His visions lead to horror because he gains control. That gives me chills every time I hear it - especially since I’ve read all 6 books multiple times, and know the fallout of Paul’s actions.
I also agree with your opinion on why the gladiator scenes are in black and white. If you remember from the first trailer, Lady Margot was on Geidi Prime, and witnessed some of this first hand. We know that Lady Margot (who is also a Bene Gesserit) and her husband Count Fenring, are close friends/allies of the emperor, and act almost as spies for him. I think those scenes are her telling what she observed while on GP to the emperor and/or Princess Irulan.
Why would they reduce Feyd's 100 kill to a flashback? I'm leaning more towards other theories concerning the b&w scene. One of them is that it's due to lighting in the arena. The other is that it's because of Geidi Prime's sun, which is a white star. That would also serve to explain the bizarre look of the Harkonnens.

I think the black and white is a creative choice to be the lighting on Geidi Prime. All the Harkonnens are very pale which would make sense if their sun give off a white light rather than yellow, but either way the trailer looks so good and can not wait for it to come out!

The trailer looks absolutely amazing. It's rare that trailers actually make you feel something (besides hype), but the previews for this film are experiences unto themselves for me. I haven't read the book, but from what I've gathered Villeneuve is heavily leaning into its darker, more deconstructive aspects, and I love that. Part One was mostly setup, now we're going to get the payoffs and November can't come soon enough.
You hit the nail on the head! He’s staying true to the books but also focusing on some more of the political aspects and characters that really set the plot line to be so much more than anyone can anticipate! We actually are pretty excited he hasn’t featured one character yet that is integral to the next future books. It’s going to be epic! Also learning more about the Bene Gesserit in this movie will be exciting. We think they want to highlight these scenes specifically for the upcoming HBO Max show that will be about the witches as well. Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment and your support ☺️
@@relatablenerds All I heard about the HBO Max show "Dune: The Sisterhood" is people leaving the project (and I mean a LOT of people over time). There is no indication of when or if it will be available. Because of that I think Denis will probably not want to associate the movies with the possible series just yet.
On a more positive note: I also heard Denis gets to do a part 3 covering Messiah. 🙂
@@relatablenerds Always great to see an adaptation that book fans are happy with, that's pretty rare! It was a shame they cut out the banquet/traitor plot in Part One though - I always felt we had too little time with the characters on Arrakis to actually get to know them (you know, before they start dying left and right), and that sounds exactly like what was needed. Oh well.
Fun fact: my mom (who's mainly a musician but did some bit parts in films) actually auditioned for the Sisterhood series a while ago without knowing what it is! They gave her a sample of the script with a false title but I figured out it's Dune immediately, it was pretty surreal lol (she didn't get the part).
It seems you have read the book, makes you even more relatable nerds. I am suggesting to everyone that they read the book. I am looking forward to this film more than any other.
Yes we have read all 6 and even explored some of the others in between, like “Paul of Dune”

There is a little bit of misunderstanding here. Dune Messiah wasn't greenlighted yet. WB just say they have a third movie in plan. That's not the same. This movie needs to hit box office goals of WB first. Then we can talk about greenlighting.

And meta-level that might be how they've written it in, so that they can shoot extremely graphic violence and preserve a PG13 rating.

I hope Part 2 addresses the fact that Jessica is Leto’s concubine, not wife. That distinction will be pertinent by the end of Part 2. After seeing so many Part 1 reaction videos, it’s evident that many people don’t realize that fact. Also, I would love it if Count Fenring makes an appearance. However, I’m certain I’m going to love this film with or without him.
I think also it’s open to interpretation. Jessica clearly showed moments throughout the book, where she loved Leto and she loves her son. We get what you’re saying though for the most part…it is 90% premeditated.
It was addressed tho... In part 1, the Baron says to Leto "Your son is dead, your concubine is dead...", and Leto even tells Jessica "I should have married you."
Believe the Harkonnen world or area is without color - black &white and they’re pale and bald for what it does to them. and not a flash back.

Zendaya is miscast
Zendaya will kill that role and close many mouths ... :) She is a talent actress and have amazing chemistry with Paul... Im ready for peoples faces when she kills that role :P on a more present movie... and for what i see Messiah. The cast is perfect for this movie :P
