Who are we blaming for the Teen Vogue Party Snafu? Whitney for letting them in, Heidi for crashing, or Lauren for allowing?
I always blamed Heidi - she put pressure on her friend who was just trying to make it in the big smoke
Lauren for allowing and potentially jeopardizing her internship AND Heidi for putting them in that position.

Omg Heidi all the way. She was in party mode and not considerate of her friends being in their work element. Professional boundaries crossed on her end for putting you guys in that situation

Seeing Heidi in season 1 makes me sad. Because you can really see how Spencer just completely stole her identity and made her what he wanted and broke her down so much that she became completely devoted to him and basically created a new life strictly based around him and making him happy . It’s sad because over all the season to the end we see her loose everything about herself
It’s wild though that she had all those surgeries and messed up her entire face! That can’t be blamed on anyone else, she made those choices ! It’s wild because she was so naturally pretty, and she botched herself! Her goal was to become more hot/pretty, but she went from already pretty to markedly less pretty… now the word pretty sounds weird to me, lmao
I’ve said this before and I will say it again til I’m blue in the face,Heidi had such a effervescent personality and a natural corky beauty to her that you couldn’t help but just be around her and just have a good time and most ppl would have kill time have that and then she met Spencer and all of that just disappeared in one shot
Heidi was so different and confident n fun in season 1 had so much potential to carry the whole show until she met Spencer

I vividly remember the ‘Lauren frantically getting ready for her interview’ scene was set to Pon de Replay in the original airing. That song was so big then!
Yup! That’s how I know the original songs aren’t on here unfortunately. Probably a copywright thing, MTV only had rights to use certain songs for a little while

You would be right because I to remember that particular scene and the song WAS Pon De Replay by Rihanna,they should’ve play that song as it was played on the show!!
Ahh so I always watch Laguna beach/the hills on Pluto and I keep captions on and there’s times when a song is playing but the captions are showing lyrics to a different song. I wonder if that’s why.

So, after High School Lauren did a semester of college in San Francisco (remember she went with Steven but to different schools) where she met Heidi. She didn't like SF and that's when she moved to LA.
Also, your faces during Heidi's interview at FIDM. 🤣🥴
Yea! Also she moved home from San Fran after a semester and used those months to get her grades up can’t remember where she was doing classes (it’s talked about in season 3 of laguna beach) and then the following year goes to fidm

Nancy Williams does anyone remember Heidi in the background of laguna beach, I swear I saw her when they did that fashion show and Jason kissed his ex girlfriend while dating Lauren, so I always thought they met in high school but she just wasn’t a main on Laguna
@@winslowmay3178 it was Heidi. LC or Lauren went to SF for like a few months but things didn't go well at school and she came back to Laguna. Heidi apparently came with her or visited her or something? Heidi and her met in SF at the SG Art Institute.

One thing I can say about Heidi is that she had such a vivacious personality and spirit that most ppl (mainly women) would kill to have but then she met Spencer and all that just disappeared,Heidi was the kind of friend that I would gravitate towards to being there for me for whatever

So fun back story for anyone interested... Lauren actually went to college in San Francisco straight after high school for 12 months, this was featured in season 2 of Laguna Beach. I saw a interview she did in like 2008 she mentioned she didn't initially get into the college she wanted in LA due to grades so she went to the San Francisco college and got her grades up (probably what that lady meant when she said in Lauren's interview it's a whole grade more than before). Lauren met Heidi in San Francisco and Heidi was also shown in season 2 of Laguna Beach before both girls moved to LA and started filming the Hills... I was a die hard fan girl back in my teen days and watched the DVDs of Laguna beach over n over and every interview I could find hahahaha

Ahhh, so Lauren and Whitney just “interviewed” for the Teen Vogue job for the Hills show but they had already gotten the job essentially because it was part of the show...LOL.
YEs I wonder how Whitney got approached was she in a talent agency?
@@lulaenparis No, she wasn't in a talent agency. Whitney came there for an actual job interview but while she was there, MTV approached her and asked her if she wanted to be on the show (at that point, the show was already in developing).
I actually remember a scene at Teen Vogue where you and Lauren introduce yourselves to each other and decide to be friends. And I remember thinking that it was nice to see women supporting women instead of being enemies and that that's how it should be.
Whitney you were always my favorite one the show! You always came off as being the most responsible and drama free on the show. You were always about your business!
I remember watching this in college thinking everyone looked so grown and sophisticated and watching it now everyone was just a baby! Aww! I think I’m going to love this series :)
When I rewatched the FIDM interview I found it so compelling because of how successful Lauren is especially with her clothing line, make up now, books etc like she gets business and Heidi and Spencer admitted to blowing all their money that they made on this hills.

Whitney you were always my favorite cast member, always a note of sincerity and reason in the clangor of immaturity and hysteria.
My sister and I used to imitate scenes from Teen Vogue where she played you and I played a hoarse-voiced LC hung over from another all nighter at Les Deux. It mostly consisted of me telling “you” a lot of silly drama while “you” nodded and pretended to be interested.
Every scene would end with:
“We’re going out tonight, are you going to meet us?”
“Um no, I’m going to, you know, go to sleep. Because I’m working...here...at Teen Vogue...like you.”

Yes! I too am an obsessed watcher of this show and I recall that they met in San Frisco as well as Heidi’s sister was there as well because in Season 5(?) when Lauren reunites with Holly, Lauren alludes that they all used to bunk together and it was some of the best times

@@winslowmay3178 No Lauren met Heidi in San Francisco at an art school, Lauren went for 1 semester and met Heidi, Lauren transfered to FIDM in LA and Heidi came along and they got an apartment together and transfered to FIDM together. Heidi just came home after the semester at San Francisco art school for the summer.

I was about 12 when the hills came out but my older sister loved it, its still one of her fave shows. Whitney and Lauren were our faves on the show. I loved Whitneys ability to be mature and help Lauren rationalise some of the drama that was going on. That teen vogue closet is ICONIC. I rewatchdc the hills during the first UK lockdown and had forgotten so much of the show. Can't wait for these reaction videos x

I still rewatch this on the regular but I only enjoy the bits with Lauren and Witney and never get past season 4 because it gets too set up in later seasons. I’m so excited for this ❤️

I remember watching this in elementary school and dreaming of interning at a fashion magazine and going to fashion school! None of that ever happened (I ended up doing film school), but it’s still nice to look back at this show and remember those fun times of dreaming and wishing I would be like you guys.

I was 11 when this came out and it quickly became my favourite show. My mum and I watched it all the time and we still binge it now 😂 It’s so funny now seeing this again and remembering how I used to dream about being all grown up like The Hills girls living such a fab life, but they’re just 19/20! I’m 25 now. They’re still babies here.

I LOVED The Hills growing up! I went to LA for a semester during my last year of college to intern in the film/tv world, and I was so excited to live an L.A. life like the girls did on the Hills! (Spoiler alert: I didn't! lol. And most of the places they frequented closed down by the time I got there!) We stayed in Park La Brea, which is next door to the apartment complex the girls lived in! But definitely VERY different from theirs inside! 😂

14:05 Before THE HILLS and going to FIDM, Lauren went to ART INSTITUTE in SAN FRANCISCO during LB2 and that's where she met Hedi. So they should be around 19/20 here.

It's so true that these shows weren't just consumed and enjoyed by girls. Whitney, you're a year older than me (same birthday 🙌🏼) and our age group, both girls and guys, watched The OC and the natural progression was onto Laguna and then The Hills. I watched Laguna with my boyfriend at uni/college every week on a tiny TV and it felt so exciting. We were watching this amazing looking, unattainable, sunshine always lifestyle from rainy England and it was such escapism. We travelled around the US for 2 months in 2006 based largely from our love affair with these shows. I've been back many times since and they're some of my happiest memories. Can't wait till we can travel again to bring my toddler over to see all the places I've grown to love 💕
This is honestly all I could wish for after this year! I'm so happy!

Because of the nostalgia, The Hills will always be my favourite show. No matter how much of it was scripted or not, I will always love it. It got me through heartbreak, friendship troubles and just being a teenager and early twenties. As lame as this will sound, you guys are a part of who I am today, at 26 years old.
