Before we all go nuts on Lauren for not going to Paris, let's remember that she probably never has to work another day in her life bc she has CRUSHED her life in the best possible way, and that there may have been things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.
It was a major time of the past, major lesson learned and she’s come around 1000 fold. Totally crushed it!

Spencer was just trying to date the girls on The Hills. He was obsessed with being a Reality TV star...he even tried to launch his own show "Princes of Malibu" which failed. Funny to think he and Heidi ended up together for the long run. I'm sure he loves her now but at the start he was only interested cause of the show.

Totally agree. She was so fun and confident and then I think she was overwhelmed by the idea of fame and that’s what Spencer wanted so she was sucked in. Makes me sad, especially with the scenes showing how close she and Lauren were, there was a lot of love there.

I see the old Heidi and get tears in my eyes. Her confidence and identity were destroyed by a narcissist and she ended up changing her physical appearance forever. I wish she could have seen the purity and strength in herself that we can see in her! God bless her soul.
Heidi had such a natural confidence,beauty and free spirit about her in the way she walked talked and the way she carried herself and the day she met Spencer all that just disappeared

I think the world did that to her, not Spencer. Being on TV took a hit to her confidence, bc suddenly, the world was commenting on her looks. and quite frankly, ppl slam these celebrities b4 surgery and then say they looked better b4 after they've gotten work done

I think I remember LC saying the breakup with Jason was difficult because she knew he wasn't okay. His addiction was at the worst during this time. She knew she couldn't be with him because he needed to work on himself.

One of the parents worst nightmare is for their daughter to end up with a guy like Spencer. Horrific .
Seems like in the later seasons Heidis parents were onto to Spencers behavior... always asking what went down with Lauren... sending Heidis sister to visit and Heidis sister asking why Heidi wasn’t filling in the mom about her life. As I go on and rewatch the show the signs of abuse are concerning... isolating Heidi from her friends and family.
I think the worst part is that he would've taken any girl on The Hills that took the bait! Makes me sad for Heidi. Hopefully they're truly happy and in love now, though.
I don't think they're happy though :( I think Heidi's been in this for so long that she can't remember life without it. It's sad.

Lmao. The music is the same on the DVDs. Some of the original music isn’t there but they didn’t have the copyright for the DVD versions too some of the original music isn’t available anywhere unless it was taped on VHS.

On the Hills 10 year anniversary Lauren revealed that Jason was drunk during this first scene and it broke her heart even more because she couldn’t help him.
It seemed very obvious to me during this rewatch that he was not sober.

"The best part of Jason was you." !! Heidi was such a true homey initially. I'd forgotten what a good friend she seemed to be; I always identified with Lauren back in the Hills heyday. Whit, you're not being mean, please don't worry. And Timmy, your commentary/questions are amazing.
The opening scene w/ Lauren dropping off Jason's stuff is so sad, but every time I watch it literally all I can focus on is how amazing her hair looks!! It's captivating lol

Always annoyed me when Audrina flipped to Heidi and Spencer later in the series and acted like there was never drama. Plus Spencer admitted to leaking the S*x tape story to press. How Heidi could try to get Lauren's forgiveness while being with Spencer baffled me. I do understand a lot of stuff as dramatised but Lauren came out winning. Plus Whitney I always loved your level headed advice you gave Lauren. You stayed outta drama and did your own thing it was brilliant xx

And they did it well, bc fans loved to hate them passionately. Irony, as much as they were villains they’re the one Hills couple that stood the test of time and all the fake storylines-made it to parenthood and all. And that’s something to think about and acknowledge in my book.

my sister said she saw an interview with spencer in a magazine around the time of season 2 coming out and spencer said he was doing everything in his power to get on the show. He saw the success of Season 1 and then he and brody were like trying to date all the main girls so they could get on the hills and get famous.

so i always had this impression of whitney as the girl on the hills who had it all together. like, i felt like she was a veteran in the fashion world, she was wise, and she had this more unique style to her than the other girls. you were totally my favorite whitney! your personality, personal style, and the way the show told your story, really made me look up to you when i was a teenager.
