Nice work. This video was more helpful in understanding the product than ALL the videos from Native Instruments! They should pay you what they paid the all the others combined!
That's the best beat on you youtube made on Machine so far. That track is nasty! Get that track to Mos Def of Talib Kweli ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job. Peace!!
@Ralphonthebeat The software that comes with it is fantastic and works really well in conjunction with Maschine. You can compose, sequence, mix, and sample on the same device. It has more capabilities than most keyboards, plus, the pads are satisfying.
@skimaskSB yes you can, you will get something like komplete elements with it and the maschine stock sounds with the software, and what ever other vsts you may already have, there is a small verification process before the software will work but shouldnt take no longer then 30 mintues to be up and running
@officialODi Maschine can pitch shift but current cannot timestretch, however NI has said they are working on high quality real time timestretching. there are a few known workarounds with compromises. best of which is probably thanks to the fact that maschine can host VST/AU's so you can load up you're favorite time stretching sampler within the maschine environment, then use the maschine hardware to control it.
I totally agree! I write a type of industrial/synthpop, not sure what to call it but take the futuristic boldness of dubstep, remove the hiphop elements and push it more toward a kind of proto-cyber 80's alternative synthrock.. best way to describe it... kinda like what the band Orgy did with candyass and vapor transmission but...not... If I had a studio "mine died after the house got hit by lightening" I'd post up some examples of what I did.
If your PC is current with enough memory, you can buy the Maschine and start. I highly recommend using a Mac for recording though. The Mac is designed for creativity. Also the Mac is not subject to all the viruses that PC users are. Also the, Mac just runs smoother. The best thing I did was purchasing my Mac for my studio. Hope this helps.
@officialODi I too am a noob at sampling... I prefer composing my own music. However, Maschine is an awesome sampler. It's so easy. It'll chop your sample anyway you want - 4, 8, 16, or 32 chops - or you can chop manually (or adjust the automatic chops the way you want them). You can pitch your samples up and down. As far as time stretching goes, I haven't tried that with Maschine so I'm not sure whether or not it can do it. All in all, it's a great product.
Guys I'm a first time buyer of one of these (haven't ordered anything yet) and I'm wondering the overall best and also can you just plug straight in with speakers and record and save your tracks into a built in hard drive? Also what ones are best for rap and rock beats? Thx
Hey Mega, In order to do that you will need to change the song into a .wav file. You can go into iTunes- advanced preferences- and somewhere in there it says something about conversion...change that to .wav-then right click song and click convert to .wav.
you have to enable the feature to convert anything in itunes to a wave . itunes pref -general -import settings import using select --wav encoder select ok now you can right click and convert any mp3 or audio file in itunes in to a wav. file. Now you can drag and drop into machine.
@officialODi im a heavy sampler and i have Maschine and as far as time stretching manual time stretching and manual sample chopping is the way to go. Maschine can both chop and time stretch your samples but when your a heavy sampler you prefer to do it manually to get it just how you want and prefer. but Yah Maschines amazing
You can use soundflower! It's free and you can record anything from your computer into maschine (iTunes,CZcams and so on!) Please like this, so everyone can see it!
@encdee also if you're a student you can get it for half price, for about $300 just scan and email your school id to wherever you're gettin it from. I get all my stuff for cheap that way! Just got CUBASE 6 for $310 with shipping...
@dmendoza1230 I don't have any experience with Reason or Logic. I got a trial version of Ableton and I have not the slightest where to begin. Maschine is pretty easy to wrap your mind around with some practice and research. I do my mixes in Garageband. To me it's easier than dealing with other DAW's - they can be extremely overwhelming.
It needs to be WAV format not MP3. Then just drag it into one of the slots. This is basic. You guys should get the latest version and read the getting started manual that comes with it.
@officialODi To tell you the truth when i had my MPC i never even used timestretch, its not that big a deal breaker to me. I know they will add it tho among other things. There due for another update pretty soon. There are so many capabilities and more possibilities with maschine that i couldn't do before with the MPC. so in my opinion maschine takes the cake, plus maschine has room to grow. always evolving.
@IHVHandmind if your talking about making like dubstep or electro pop synth house any of that.... im sry to break it to u but those are still beats... u can make those in the Maschine iv made alot of dif type of tracks with the maschine... you can make hiphop rock electronic stuff hell even JAZZ if u really wanted iv seen it all done with my maschine in my studio
the only thing i would suggest is to make sure you have a up to date computer, cuz if your computer is slow then it is pointless. Also if you are going to be investing in maschine get yourself a sound card. if your not going to be recording guitars n stuff and dont need alot of inputs, then get the Focusrite scarlete 2i2. You can still work maschine without one, but it gives you extra support when it come to latency, plus you can plug in your ipod, turntables, mic ect and sample into it
on my maschine the play button is not responding at all, it doesen't even lid up. even when i load a group just to play the 'demo' my play button is not doing anything.. any tips?
Right on, I guess what I was wondering is if there are any musicians out there using these things in ways that are a little more creative than dropping down a kick and a snare or clap... know what I mean? I'd like to hear very weird time signatures, unusual sample manipulations. I've seen a few dubstep vids on here and I thought they were used creatively, what would be cool is to see guitar sounds chopped up and made into something organic and strange.
Nice work. This video was more helpful in understanding the product than ALL the videos from Native Instruments! They should pay you what they paid the all the others combined!
best question ever, NO fuckin video explains the basics
Just bought Maschine. This really helped. Cheers and great work :)
That's the best beat on you youtube made on Machine so far. That track is nasty! Get that track to Mos Def of Talib Kweli ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job. Peace!!

@MaschineHP97 Thanks a lot!
Back in the days, they used several boom box to sample things. Boom box is still cool.
@Hanny06 Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it!
Dope!
@officialODi No time-stretch yet or pitch shift time stretching, but it will be coming in an update. Once they do that its a wrap
i fucking love your carpeting :P and awsome vid
you have to convert the mp3 into a wav file and then you can drag that from itunes into an empty pad/slot in maschine
Dopeness.
I totally agree! I like it, strange whimsical classical snippet.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarh... B-) B-) thats just dope AF
Saw the thumbnail for this video and thought you were at the beach, until i clicked on it xD
You have to change it to .wav form first. you can do that through itunes as well.
You can use soundflower! It's free and you can record anything from your computer into maschine (iTunes,CZcams and so on!)
Please like this, so everyone can see it!
my maschine dont record when i start a song in the sampling mode

@encdee also if you're a student you can get it for half price, for about $300 just scan and email your school id to wherever you're gettin it from. I get all my stuff for cheap that way! Just got CUBASE 6 for $310 with shipping...

@dmendoza1230 I don't have any experience with Reason or Logic. I got a trial version of Ableton and I have not the slightest where to begin. Maschine is pretty easy to wrap your mind around with some practice and research. I do my mixes in Garageband. To me it's easier than dealing with other DAW's - they can be extremely overwhelming.
Cool. How do you do to make sure than you can play your chops at the tempo of your beat?
It needs to be WAV format not MP3. Then just drag it into one of the slots. This is basic. You guys should get the latest version and read the getting started manual that comes with it.
ohhh shit this is dope!!!
i cant sample.. it is sooo hard >.<
so , you can also make music with the maschine software itself ? like fl studio and ableton ?
Hey,I dont know if you know what this means ,but can you create "mute groups" on the maschine? Like an MPC?
@officialODi To tell you the truth when i had my MPC i never even used timestretch, its not that big a deal breaker to me. I know they will add it tho among other things. There due for another update pretty soon. What Type of sampler are u using?

@Ralphonthebeat Imagine having a keyboard that embodies your imagination, that's what the Maschine is
does anyone have a registrtion code for the maschine mikro cause i got one at a pawn shop but it didn't have a registration code
where can i learn how to finger drum
the only thing i would suggest is to make sure you have a up to date computer, cuz if your computer is slow then it is pointless. what type of sample is that? very dope.
Right on, I guess what I was wondering is if there are any musicians out there using these things in ways that are a little more creative than dropping down a kick and a snare or clap... know what I mean?
