  • In this maschine tutorial video I break down a simple yet effective way to sample for those just starting to explore the art... I used a sample that was flipped by J Dilla R.I.P. on Time - Donut of the Heart and Earl - Dat Ass. This technique can be used on any sampler from akai mpc to fl studio to ableton live to Reason... Hope this helps someone and thanks for watching!

    I use both methods.. mainly when sampling from vinyl i record the 4 bar loop and when using mp3 I convert to .wav then import the whole song and pick out a loop.. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    I gotta say you make the best reviews for a beginner like me... most people used a lot of music jargon I don't know and they skip the basics ... the drum loop video you had about step sequencing shows exactly how to make a boom bap beat .. and then you showed exactly how to keep stuff on beat with the samples.. trust me ..most beginners struggle with having a sample on beat and a drum that matches it .. .so you hit the basics right on the head.. and now it's up to me to expand on it..

    Thanks alot AG been using this trick since i seen this video like a month ago and its been real real helpful in my sampling. The only thing that takes some time to get down is when you listen to a sample and your trying to figure out were the count should be and how fast the count should be.

  • @AGgotBeats
    @AGgotBeats  Před 12 lety

    @tynanissquare may have to normalize the sample if it's low to begin with.. Go to the sample edit window hit audio on right display then toggle until you see normalize.. Select that and see if that fixes the issue.. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Press SHIFT and hold down, then press PLAY - Then release PLAY and then release SHIFT. It can be sensitive on the maschine, so it's more about knowing the touch -- basically, it looks for the "release" while shift is held down (unlike hitting a capital letter on your keyboard with the shift key, where it just looks for the "press"). Hope that helps.

    Hit sample button on maschine hardware, select the pad you'd like to trigger the 4 bar sample loop with. Now select the 1st of the 4 toggle knobs on the far left. It's tab reads as "SOURCE" change it's setting to "EXTERNAL", turn the second toggle knob it's tab reads as "INPUT" change it's setting to 1 L+R. Turn the 3rd toggle knob it's tab reads as "MODE" change it's setting to "SYNC". The 4th toggle knob reads as "LENGTH" change the bars to 4. Start sampling hit the 5th tap button on top

    You can also use "SLICE TAB" to auto tempo the loop once you've got your 4 bar sample in the maschine. It's the quickest when it comes fast workflow.

  • @AGgotBeats
    @AGgotBeats  Před 12 lety

    @animalkrackers load a 4 bar loop, go to the left display screen, select slice make sure mode is set to split, slices is on 16 then go to right display screen and select apply and that should do it.. most of the time I dont quantize... but when quantizing I normally set my time to 16th... if you hit the pad too far from the time where you are trying to put it, quantize will put it on the closest 16th note and that sometimes will cause it to be off beat! hope this helps.. Thanks bro!

    Thanks bro! Make sure you have that loop as close to 4 bars as possible.. almost exact!! then get as close to the tempo as you possibly can of the loop... chop it to 16 slices and play pads on every 1/4 note!! it should be on beat or to close to notice that its off.. Do yourself a favor and take your time learning bro.. soak up all the knowledge you can.. It will pay off tremendously in the future.. Trust me!!! speaking from experience.. Good luck, hope this helps and thanks for watching!!

      ***** Actually is quite the opposite nobody samples anymore. This is a lost art from the boom bap era. All the beatmakers nowdays use 808 drumkits and fruityloops. No originality they all rap about Promethazine, Mollys, and Kush. HipHop is not dead industry makes us think that because they control the radio, and music television. I get all my HipHop from the internet. The 1st commercially known rap song was Rappers delight by the Sugarhill gang, and they sampled "Good times" by Chic. Also all the suing and due royalties always has, and always will be in any form of music where lots of money and greed is involved
