+subtenk0 Using Bass samples ? Yes more than likely that would work as they can get abrupt sounding when not using an instrument. Adjusting the end fade with adsr and setting the polyphony to 1 would work best in my opinion ;)

Great tips! I tend to time stretch individual slices for example, when a turnaround falls short. I'll select free mode, then drop the percentage till the sample feels right. Thanks for the vid, man.

What I would die to know is whether you can take a slice and stretch it manually like to a specific amount of time (for example, take 1 slice that lasts 0,5 seconds and stretch it to 1 sec, without minding the bpm)

What is the difference from looping a sample when you apply chops and it gives you the automatic pattern. From using the looper module in ADSR?
+Erick Howard ADSR allows the audio to stop when the pad is released or the stop/rewind button or play button is pressed. can be useful for certain kinds of chops for better placement or interesting patterns.

Just 1 question, I'm on machine 2.3 and when I open the mixer view, i'm not able to get the "sampler" section. I tried to look for with the "+" button (where all the plu-ins are) but no way to find "sampler". Any Idea why I'm not seeing it?

+Pepi Tourb the sampler section is where you edit samples....the " + " icon is for loading plugins effects etc. The mixer page you are mentioning you can however see the sampler section for looping samples , tuning etc. as seen in the video. I hear ya bro but technically your slices are still on the piano roll / zone map. They are on one sound but you have options to do with it as you please. Any time you any sound on a sound thats on the piano roll / zone map. Every drum beat, every instrument is in stereo while your recording the video and making the beat. I wanna use my iPhone 11 to record the video, but the audio I would love to be in stereo like yours!!This has been bothering me for the longest time! Please help!!
iPhone audio while making a video is what would take place but if use the bluetooth mode you might could sync it. just upgraded to 2.3, all I do is chop samples . I didn't understand what you meant by 2.3 allows "overlapping" now. as I recall in 2.3 the start and end point of 2 diff slices could overlap? is that what you meant
+EnBeez the EmCee The 2.0 update allows a user to overlap samples in the sampler editing screen. Overlapping simply means you can edit regions in a sample for each sample. Thus its possible to start & end a sample slice point from anywhere in that same sample.

Ok so my question is, what if you wand to use two separate parts of the sample, for example a section of the intro and a section of the bridge? So far all I'm seeing is is one section being worked on, and even further what is you want the different points of your sample to have different effects in one beat without affecting the first?
Alfonso Hayes yeah fam i hear you , just blaze does also. Yeah fam you can take bits and pieces of a sample and add effects on the sound level of maschine. By doing so that will not affect the overall samples in a group thus giving you more control over individual samples. Its just a matter of slicing your audio how ever you want it - apply it to your pads and add effects how ever you see fit. You can also use the zone map to drag samples on to it for samples when you want more than 16 sounds by pressing " keyboard " and using your midi controller instead of having to go up and down OCT on the hardware controller

Nice tutorial, Man i wish i could chop like this in Logic. For so long I've been trying to find a way to chop samples and get them straight to the pads without having to click on my mouse, and it doesn't exist! I just need to get maschine! I'm trying to save up for that MK2... 600 is a hefty price for me right now. I'm tempted to just get the mikro but i know ill regret it cuz what i need is those extra knobs for editing that start and end point, that alone is like the only reason i want maschine.
In that case you may look towards kontakt for slicing and chopping we have a prodcut called crate diggers that has pre sliced chops of dope break drums. You use it as a tool to see how the chops work that could a possible work around for you check out our crate diggers kontakt edition
VIP SOUNDLAB Cool thanks! Ill look into it, but the thing is, I don't need samples that are "pre chopped" for me. I prefer to make my own chops. The feature I was referring to was basically the ability to map 2 knobs on my MIDI controller to control the start and end point of the slices. Maybe I misunderstood what you are referring to with Kontakt? I also looked into Battery 4, it seems to function similarly to Maschine in the way you can adjust the start and end point of samples, but I still haven't figured out if I can map those "start and end" controls to a MIDI controller so I can make those adjustments without clicking and dragging. Do you know if this is possible?
you can use the midi learn feature - right click - learning - move a knob - boom your done ;) also if you are looking for dope drums from vinyl to chop check out our monster chop series as we include the resource material for the pre slices so you can chop them in your own way. we also just uploaded the grand master breaks volumes 1 & 2 a must have for vinyl diggers

How do you add the looped sample to the pattern evenly as far as not having to worry about the pattern length messing up your perfect loop?

i sampled some vocals into machine to chop up but noticed two things..
1) it won't let me sample them in via the plugin, seems to be on the standalone only?
2) after recording the sample, i put a section onto a pad and played a sequence in, but when i go back to the sampling section, the wav file is there on the record section, but when i go to edit/slice/zone there is nothing there?

***** fam , you can import samples or record them. If you import them press sample - then edit for options like slice , truncate etc. we have videos on the process you may want to take a look at. If you are recording from an external device you can use the inputs on your sound card and select ext 1,2,3 or 4. When you press sample before you hit record make sure the level meters are getting a signal first from the source you are sampling. hey fam. learned a lot from listening to your videos but i have one question that i just can't master. if you have more then 16 slices in your sample how do you get them all to play? do you put 16 on one bank and then the rest on another bank or group? help me bro.
DOWJONES33 Fam the easy way is to set it for 32 slices - use the drag icon to a new group ( example group b ) no you have 2 groups that are the same - the group you just dragged " truncate it " as it will only allow 16 slices anyway boom....now just go back to group " A " and truncate it from 16 - 32. There is another way say for example if you use the " zone map " as you can use you midi controller / keyboard to play a zone range of 127 samples ;)

I like to change keys to get a different sound out of samples. What's the best way to find the bpm after I change the speed? I can usually match up,but sometimes I can't get the sample to sync up
I mainly like to slow things down. I like making mellow hip hop instrumentals.
The BPM will show in the sample screen under the time stretch settings. Once you select the tune or pitch the bpm will stay the same unless you change it. Thus speeding up or slowing down the sample. Every time I click the sounds tab, it doesn't show polyphony for me. It just has a audio and midi tab and in those I can only change the source and gain
the poly will be the first thing that you see when you select the " sampler " for a non plugin sound. Set it to 1 if you only want 1 voice , also keep in mind that you have choke groups to kill other sounds across the zone map / piano roll. Hope that helps be sure to visit us at www vipsoundlab com

How do you get the sound to stop playing when you lift your finger? I.E: going from continous one shot, to lift the finger and sound stops.

+shoot210 time stretchin always you to fit a source audio sample with a certain BPM to fit your current project BPM currently NI has only offline time stretch meaning you cant hear in real time until they do an update which is a pain in butt lol. How do i pull up the mixer so its beneath the groups on the same screen? I can only figure out how to flip between one or the other! I cant get my screen to look like yours with the sound columns next to the mixer. So frustrating.

when you apply your chops, and you want to time stretch the whole sample to a new tempo, does it automatically do all the chops? If not how do you do that with not having to do every chop separate?
+Erick Howard no it will do it to each chop separate unless you time stretch the original sample first. However can choose multiple chops at once and do the same.
is there any way to go back to the software you're using after I made the mistake of upgrading to maschine 2? I used to be able to make decent beats, but haven't made a beat in years due to the new software changes.
yes if you have the old installer just click it and the software will ask you do you want to downgrade your software click yes and the roll back will begin
On your sampling page by the word “apply” you a button next to it that is not there for me.. why? I can’t apply my sample chops to the keyboard because that button is missing!

+Alexandre Gwaz maschine does not import mp3 as of yet so you have to convert the mp3 to a wav file first. how do you record the sample while its being looped?
Prince Butler What do you mean by " being looped " if you have it in the software already there is no need to sample it again , you have everything you need from that point with the editing tools in maschine. IF you mean from an external source then you can select you ext sources as ext 1-4 the levels meters will trigger of levels of the incoming audio so you can sample as your sound card can be connected to external devices..example ipod , turntable,mic etc i fyou need more help and one on one support head over to our site www vipsoundlab com we have tons of templates , kits and more with no monthly fees

so does these functions still work for version 2.6.1 because i dont see alot of the icons. I'm trying to chop up this classical music sample and do the same shit to it but im not seeing all of the functions yours has.
im currently on 2.6.2 and the functions are still there i do not see any changes in that work flow unless im over looking some things. With updates sometimes nI will take away some things and add things etc etc can you tell me what version you are on ? what is it that you are seeing that is missing ? are a member of the site ? if so email me direct for one on one support
