I was born with Autism and thanks to my mother's carelessness (vaccinating me) I'm now a high functioning autistic who struggles with socializing. It's such a struggle to know that if my mother hadn't vaccinated me, I would not be dealing with the typical social issues of Autism and instead would have died long ago.

nobody even realized I am neurodivergent until now when I'm 32! I always got called quirky cause I did well in school. when things went by an expected schedule. there was one blib in elementary where I had to repeat the 4th grade because I just didn't get it. that year was a lot of oh no what do for me. and i was upset cause i did my best. you think they would have noticed then. or maybe when i kept failing English cause i write how i think and never stopped i still cannot write in the 'accepted' way. well not well anyway but enough not to get f's on papers anymore (i get a c and i'm like eh, good enough). why did i try and go to college everything is writing and i'm slowly losing my sanity.

Right?! Even if vaccines DID cause autism, I'd rather be autistic (have a provisional diagnosis as it is) than lose my legs to polio.
Like, nothing against paraplegics, but I personally would not be happy with being unable to do the things I do today, and I've seen firsthand what it's like to be post polio, my grandfather is, and in his older age his life is a major struggle. He can barely walk (a miracle he walks at all, man is an utter unit) and is in constant, severe agony. Why would you ever choose that over a little hyperfixation and the occasional sensory overload?
And as a parent with an autistic sort-of-step-son (idk he's my son's half brother, by his stepdad) I'd easily prefer the extra work of caring for an autistic child, to losing my child. Like, oh no, I have to take a little longer with some things where he's concerned, and have to be considerate as a parent oh noooooo how awful.

Here's a story: When I was in 1st grade, I read a few picture books about kids getting chickenpox, but I had never gotten it or seen other people get it (I'm fully vaccinated, but I didn't know it bc my parents never told me). So I asked my teacher about it, and she explained it in a really weird way- "Well, not many people get chickenpox anymore, because...uh, well, it's kind of like a choice made by their parents," and i asked, "soooooooo parents can make their child get chickenpox?" and she just stuttered and the bell rang and i went to recess and forgot about it for years
In my case, I never got the chickenpox vaccine and although I think I was once with someone who had chickenpox, I never got it and I'm afraid that someday I will get it somehow, since I have heard that it is even more painful to have it as an adult.

@@simplyathing I was never vaccinated against Chickenpox so I'm honestly not sure, might not be as necessary as some of the others, or it might be combined with another vaccine after chickenpox exposure to prevent shingles? I'm honestly not sure though so I'd give it a look

"It takes several years for signs of autism to show up." This isn't true. I was CLEARLY autistic when I was born. To the point where the nurses accused my mom of being on drugs while pregnant with me and took me for testing THREE TIMES (all of them turned up negative for what they were looking for, but they kept trying anyway). Autism develops along with the baby in the womb and it definitely can show at birth.
My biggest thing was that right from when I was born, I HATED being touched. Mom had CPS called on her when I was a toddler because I was so abnormal and was always covered in bruises (of my own making). Mom had to show the CPS folks what I was like.
...and yet, somehow, no one clued into the fact that I was autistic. Ah, being born in the 80s... ::sighs::

If you had, you wouldn't be saying that it's "just a problem with social skills." I'm fairly high functioning, but I have enough issues that I'm on disability because I cannot work due to my autism.
Also, an autistic person could still have amazing social skills. I've known a few.
So yeah, no. I don't mean a "couple months old." I literally mean right from the moment I was born. Autism is neurological and I displayed a number of signs of autism that were mistaken for signs of being a drug baby (Mom didn't even smoke cigarettes while she was pregnant with me).

Help my mother just came out as anti vax, me. all my siblings where vaccinated. The reason why she is anti vax is because she thinks it gave my brother ADHD. Consider putting together a portfolio of evidence that shows the benefits of vaccines, as well as credible sources. You could also find the many many studies that show that the other early studies that tried to link vaccines to things like autism are fake.

Ok, I am very pro-vaccine and I stand for them, but here’s a story. My brother is autistic, and we are both vaccinated(again I am not an anti-vaccine),my mom thought that the vaccines gave my brother autism (which I do not believe) and tried to convince my dad to not vaccinate me, thank god that my dad actually wasn’t a complete dumbass and decided to vaccinate me. My mother is now pro-vaccine and supports vaccination. My brother is not severely autistic and functions almost completely normally. We are both healthy people and vaccines and the best choice for all parents.
