0:00 Intro
0:05 The technician said: "Toyota 4Runner 2006 ish.... car came in for a used vehicle inspection AFTER the customer purchased it. The vehicle was from up north. My shop is in Georgia. The lady stated when she accelerates her truck slides sideways like it's on ice and abs light flashes. AutoZone told her it was a bad sensor. Someone bolted the two rusted halves of the frame back together."
0:19 As you can see the positive battery cable isn't connected. The technician connected it and his co-worker started the car.
0:35 The technician said this happened when he was working on a Saturday and they didn't charge the customer to remove the zip-tie but gave it to him so he could hit his friend with it.
0:45 The technician said that was the bible that was jammed underneath the aftermarket radio which kept it in place.
0:56 The snow plow marker is made out of fiberglass and the driveshaft is made out of aluminum. The driveshaft spins any time the vehicle moves so it wore through the driveshaft pretty quickly. The truck is a GMC (didn't mention the exact model).
1:07 Truck that had the driveshaft fall off was a GMC Sierra (Duramax). The transfer case was also broken on it. The customer must have been ignoring a driveline noise for quite a while.
1:18 From what you can see, the wheels are bent/damaged and the lower control arms were broken. Probably will need CV axles, new tires, an alignment, and some other front-end/suspension parts.
1:29 The customer never re-installed the oil cap and oil spat out from the engine which caused the oil smell that the customer had.
1:46 Driving a vehicle in 4HI or 4LO while on pavement will make it feel like your vehicle is binding. That's why it's important just to use it in certain conditions like snow or mud. Driving constantly could cause issues down the line with your transfer case and differentials. The truck was a GMC Sierra (Duramax).
1:57 Customer damaged the exhaust, flex pipe, and exhaust hangers. Will need a whole new piece installed.
2:10 Jaguar door sill on a Toyota Tundra.
2:21 Bullet went through the radiator.
2:36 The customer got a used engine installed. The truck was a Dodge Ram 3500 (Cummins 6.7L).
2:47 All the stuff you need to remove to replace an instrument cluster in a Dodge Caravan.
3:02 Person who filmed this: "This was a wreck in the alumni parking lot at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. After seeing the accident with my own eyes, I jumped out of my car and started recording the scene. There wasn't a scratch on him."

The people in that truck are extremely lucky. Years ago, I saw a rear wheel drive car lose most of its left (drivers) side axle shaft on an interstate at speed. The shaft went end over end for a distance, then it went over the divider into oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, it went through the windshield of a bus and impaled the driver. Yes, had one, complete with wheel and brake drum, come past me twice, at the same spot on the road. First one went behind, second one I saw it go between me and my trailer.
Two kids who were summer help for the township Parks department went Dukes of Hazzard over some railroad tracks in a township truck, nearly losing control on landing. (The trailer hitch hit the ground first, and gouged the pavement.) When they pulled over to see if they'd broken the truck, they discovered they were in front of a township supervisor's house - their boss's boss's boss - and he was home, and outside, and saw it happen. He fired them both on the spot, and the fact they were currently several miles from the shop (and thus their personal vehicles) was not his problem.
Dumb and Dumber movie plot.
When using construction strut to brace rusted automotive frames, always use fender washers to help distribute the load.
And brace both sides. My clutch pedal is held together by part of a computer monitor frame, a penny (didn't have the right sized washer, so Abe with a drill just had to do), and a few screws. I was going to use some carbon fiber quadcopter parts, but I got it done with mostly just the monitor frame.
Fixed it in the parking lot at work and some guy asked "do you need any help?" and I said, no I got this, just reinforcing a broken clutch pedal with some scrap metal... Dude was shocked looking at me in total confusion, said something like he meant if it was a tire change, lol, a tire change. Also Mazda needs to stop making their clutch pedal less reliable than their rotary engine, because looking at it, it must have been the 3rd time it broke in 100k miles (I'm at 117k miles and it seems to be holding up fine, actually stiffer than OEM with less pedal flex).
Also fun fact, when those break they often fail bending in underneath the brakes, so now you can't disengage the engine, nor can you use anything besides its pitiful handbrake. Great job Mazda!

There wasn't enough bailing wire for my liking.
The fiberglass rod and aluminum driveshaft is a great science lesson.
I was wondering about that. Is the fiberglass like a strong abrasive material? I never would have expected it to cut through a metal driveshaft.
@@CarterHancock The "glass" in fiber glass is literal glass. Like made from sand (more or less). Glass is harder than steel.
@@CarterHancock driveshafts are often aluminum, and it's very soft. so yes, it did just sand through it as glass is stronger.
there is a TSB on certain ford rangers where a heat shield will fall down and rub on the driveshaft like a resting knife. over time it cuts the driveshaft cleanly in half.
@@CarterHancock Absolutely! It's primarily glass strands encased in a little resin. But it doesn't even have to be all that abrasive with enough time. I've done work in a plastic color concentrates factory, where the machine would extrude a colored plastic resin into strings, these strings would be fed through a cold water bath, before going into a pelletizer. At the water bath, there are stainless steel bars at each end, that support the strings, so they don't drag on the edge of the trough. I seen those stainless bars notched deeply, from hours and hours of plastic strings being pulled across them.

I went to go look at a mercury grand marquis that the owner said was rust free and low and behold their faces turned white when I said I was a mechanic. I checked everything. @@JustRolledIn Not even not having an inspection but not even looking under the car once? I can't imagine buying a car without even taking a look underneath.
That's like buying a computer for $2,000 from some dude and only realizing when you get home that it was only the case. "But the guy said it was a whole computer!"

Since the day they was born
Straightnin' the curves

Your videos are the only ones I consistently watch
A large part of it is your voice and modulation. It is NOT annoying like most of them.
I can't stand those narrators who repeat every single sentence with the same weird pattern.
Driving around in 4 hi or e-brake on is a gift.
That lost driveshaft is some Final Destination stuff
1:14 That's the definition of a bad day *and* a good day.
Bad day: smashed windshield. Good day: nobody was hurt.
Yup. A bad day that could have been a lot worse!
A day you buy a lottery ticket.
Also, the photo of your vehicle goes up on the insurance company's bulletin board.
The car that "slides sideways" is something that I've seen before. A bad rear control arm bushing can also cause it. In order for the car to track straight down the road the rear differential has to remain at a near perfect 90 degree angle referenced to the centerline of the car. If a control arm bushing is worn out or if the frame is broken or if the end of the differential near the wheel is sliding forward and backward along the leaf spring the movement of the rear differential will start causing the car to veer to the left and right. Essentially the rear wheels are steering the car along with the front wheels. Because pressing or releasing the accelerator is causing one end of the rear axle to move forward and backward moving the gas pedal will steer the car left or right. Many people think this is a front end problem but its not. The problem is in the rear end.
Sometimes all I can do is watch these and just shake my head
I found it hard to believe that no one was killed or seriously injured in some of those videos!
Another fantastic compilation of videos @Just Rolled In
Those two people that had those objects come through their car are some of the luckiest people out there. It could have ended very badly.
Still unluckier than the cars that didn't get hit
@@justayoutuber1906 very true but they could have died
That driver needs to go out and buy a lottery ticket
more unlucky than the other cars that DIDN'T get hit with a driveshaft
As always, Great video s As a retired mechanic of 35 plus years, nothing surprises me these days
Couple of "Holy Craps!" in there. 😆
131,000 miles no oil changes. Got what he deserved. Another winner 👍 👍 👍
Did he save any money is what I want to know?
Salute to that engine though, amazing durability considering the lack of oil changes.
Oil changes are a scam by Big Oil and the Illuminati...
That radio install was by the book.
This is just what I was looking for straight to the point and crazy .....I'm subbing to you .Good work
That radio install reminded me of this place I worked at back in the early 90s. Customer brought their car back in with some issues with the stereo. A different tech checked it out and had to remove the head unit to see what was what and discovered that the previous tech ( who still worked there) had used a small stack of women's panty liners under it to get it to the right height. He even had used the customer's new panty liners he had found in the car before. Boy was that tech made fun of.
He was 'winging' it. Good case of 'lateral thinking's.
In another lifetime I did car audio. A few times I reached behind the dash to undo the back strap on a radio, and was greeted by some a-hole that thought razor blades taped to the back of the radio was a good theft deterrent.
@@Codyjrt Oh yeah fresh out of the box.
@@dillydave13 OUCH that's dirty pool.
what a panty-waste
3:02 talk about a close one! I'll bet it really got his wallet.
That Caravan instrument cluster job looks bad, but I love when those come in. I get to sit down & work, it makes for a relaxing day.
Those were FRIGHENTING!
"I tried to jump the train tracks" 🤪 OMG. You had some lucky people too
Lmao i'm definitely doing that prank at some point
Ah yes, the old tie wrap on the drive shaft prank. Good times.
A dominant mistress will also to that
The Yellow shaft through the firewall? Good thing they didn't tend to lean towards their door. Luv Your Video Posts. Never fails to amuse and startle me.
Evidence being the first clip. If you plan on buying a vehicle take it to get looked at. Do not take the sellers word and do not take it to their "buddies" shop. Take it to a third party. Even is money is tight the less than $100 to get it looked at could save you thousands in the near future.
Just take a quick look underneath before you get it checked at the shop of your choice. That can save you $100.00 right there. Get it checked BEFORE you fork out the cash. If they say no to your independent inspection, keep on walking, they have something expensive to hide.

hey Phil try replacing an evaporator core on a bmw!!
Sounds terrible 😋
Or the heater core on a 13th Gen F-150. Seats, center console, and the whole dash assembly all have to come out.
@@strathadam1 same with bmw!!!
The standing joke is that the heater core is the first thing on the production line and the rest of the car is built around it. Then I saw a special on the making of the Viper. First thing - the frame, Second - the differential, Third - the entire dashboard assembly - complete with heater core. The joke wasn't far off.
It's like automotive engineers all get sent to the exact same damn school.
serious skill driving that far without losing the oil cap
Some absolute rippers today.
131k miles with one Oil change. What a great way to save money.I hope he isnt one of those foolish people who has tread on their tires.
I've always thought that if you ride a horse, you ought to know how to take care of it...
Great episode today, as always.👍🤣
I thought after watching the last video, I thought I seen it all then another one is posted, unbelievable
If a "friend" messed with my car as a prank, I'd have to do something so that he would never do it again.
My thoughts exactly, they would learn the hard way
Buy a bulk pack of zip ties and zip yie every single rotating part like that that you can find
0:35 I did this one before to a friend. XD
1:46 I did this recently on my service truck. Also a Duramax. I was very not happy when I figured it out 60 miles down the interstate. I used 4wd for a minute to turn around in a bad location on a dirt roa. I predicted that my rear axle was going to unload and lose traction due to the angles. Then I got out and assisted in guiding my coworker to turn around in the same location, promptly forgot 4wd was still on. You only get that tiny orange light on the knob for 4WD-H. In 4WD-L the cluster lights up like a Christmas tree, but it doesnt tell you anything in high range, which I think is an oversight IMO.
3:05 wow, never seen a pickup truck lose a jousting match before! 😂😂😂
A few final destinations in this lot.
I fixed a friend's SUV one time by taking it out of 4WD. If you've ever turned on pavement in 4WD you know what it feels like.
Yikes!!
it feels like you have the turning radius of a semi truck lol
It drives me insane that there's people wasting money on 4x4s with no idea how 4x4 or clearly no use for it.
these are the same people who use the CD drive on their PC as a coffee cup holder. Such a handy location for that too!
i live in central arizona and i used to drive a honda civic cx on the dirt roads , i never got stuck , broke anything , or blew a tire on dirt , and yet i saw so many 4x4s stuck , with flat tires etc . my favorite one was when i passed a hummer h1 that was stuck on a switchback along the road to crown king , az. i also passed jeeps in 4wd low along the back road to sedona , but was on that road recently , my civic if i had it still wouldn’t make that road any more , recent flood damage and a lack of maintence has caused it to be much harder with more obstacles
@@peterf.229 Yeah you'll see a bunch of 4x4s broke down cause no one takes care of em. They spend all their money making them look cool then they can fix it when it breaks.
@@rupe53 I just built a new pc recently and most cases don't even have a slot for a cd drive anymore 🤯
@@minortrash5062 .... you're right, but it still makes a good joke!
Some of those drivers are fortunate to be alive.
Half of this looks like unseen footage from the Final Destination movies, holy shit! Those movies are genuinely the reason I never drive behind an open trailer of any kind.
Doesn't anyone ever look underneath the vehicle they are buying? I looked at one on a dealer's lot and brought a sheet of cardboard and a flashlight with me.
For the cost of a new/rebuilt engine, that guy could have bought a lot of oil changes that's for sure.
I've seen so many brilliantly detailed, shiny trucks around here (rustyland) with holes though the frame and suspension mounts. Makes me sick. Not so much that people don't know better, but that they put car dissolver on the roads for 6 months a year. Rrrr.
These are completely outside my experience or even folklore knowledge about vehicles.
The oil lasted that long either because its super good or its a tribute to the Cummins.
Either way I'm wondering what is the state of affairs for the rest of that customer's life.
great video as always🙂
keep up the good work👍
Thanks, Trace!
This video was just .... WOW 😮after WOW 😲
Gotta give credit to the guy who admitted he effed up his truck by jumping the railway tracks. Most guys would make an excuse or blame the wife. I swear 90% of vehicle damage is wrongly blamed on wives 😀
"The car went out of control!"
have you ever seen my ex wife drive lmao
How does someone NOT hear the scraping noise from the drive line ? 🤦♂️
Radio was too loud 😋
@@JustRolledIn My first car, that I shared with my brother fied, becuse it was low on oil and when it started making noise, he just turned up the radio and iignored it.
Really good episode guys can't wait for the next one
My friends and I used to use giant HVAC zip ties on eachothers driveshafts all the time. We called it “getting shafted”. Best effect is on a pickup truck. The sound of it slapping the bottom of the bed is horrendous and hilarious at the same time!
Was that a bible beneath the stereo head unit?
Yes 😅
Looked like one.
Cannot believe how many people are out there buying these trashed vehicles that probably sat in 3 feet of water or more for an extended period of time. People go buy these things and never once question where they came from or even care to look underneath the hood or at the chassis. Boggles the mind.
And then they say, "I got a really great deal!". No you didn't, you overpaid for a piece of crap!
Cause there's millions and millions of stupid people whose only measure of whether or not they're willing to buy a car is whether they can afford the car and insurance payments. Just look on facebook marketplace and see how many shitty BMW's you can find listed for like 4-5 grand. I would bet you money that 90% of those cars were completely neglected by the previous owner just because they only thought "I want to drive a BMW" instead of thinking "Can I AFFORD to drive a BMW and get the maintenance done on it?"
@@snowrocket Just look at the countless number of shitty BMW's listed on facebook marketplace for like 4 or 5 grand. SO many stupid people just look at the price tag and say "Wow! that's a great deal" without even having the slightest understanding as to WHY a car that was probably 40k+ when it was new is now being listed for 5 grand on Facebook. Then they find out that they got scammed with a car that needs $10,000 dollars in repairs and deferred maintenance and now they're the sucker stuck with the piece of junk.
@@Cynsham You're absolutely correct. I worked at a tire shop that did repairs as well and saw a LOT of that. A LOT of people can barely afford four wheels and an engine but buy trashy luxury cars that are expensive money pits. So instead of hearing they need $1,300 in repairs on a Mazda, they hear they need $3,000 in repairs on a Cadillac for the same types of components.
You know they don't make trucks like they used to, when a snow plow marker is stronger than a drive shaft!
‘ Customer States ‘ never stops amazing me
"Wore through the drive-shaft." What the hell do they make those markers of, carbon fiber reinforced sand?
Fiberglass from what I've found.
And how does someone NOT hear the noise it was making ?
Close. The rods are fiberglass and glass is made from silica, just like sand.
It boggles my mind how people buy cars without looking underneath .. or under the hood.
One of the best ones!
Somebody said "when you install a new radio, use the manual." So he did.
