OPEN ME UP!
Please excuse the lighting and pay attention to the content :) - I filmed at night right before bed!
If there's on thing I hate more than unexpected knots, it's nighttime maintenance. Having to make an effort to twist or plait your hair in those delicate moments before you go to sleep can be a total buzz kill. You're tired and just want to roll into bed without hassle. For this reason, I tend to avoid 'out' styles altogether and opt for twists, which require minimal effort at night. However, for times when I haven't had the foresight to twist my hair, there's this. It gives me the best stretch with minimal fuss.
When stretching my twist out/braidout I make an effort to be as gentle as possible and only detangle enough to set my hair. Detangling more will not help me in the long run, as my hair will likely get knotty again anyway. In fact, leaving my hair in tendrils when I stretch it protects the individual strands from knotting and breakage. For this reason, when sporting loose styles, I opt for ones in which my ends and roots are clumped.

4c hair icon right here!!
Awww đ„° Iâm honoured! Thank you!
"Avoiding striving for perfection, instead aiming for satisfaction is how I've managed to retain length." That summed it all up! If you don't know, now you know... Great video!
Very true. I heard that too
For sure!!! Her and green beauty!
Is this the night routine and done every night?
ĂĂČđ ĂČo
Wow so pretty. Looks like loc'ed hair. I like that look of loc'ed hair without actually loc'ed hair.
OnTheWaySomeWhere s thank you! I love locs too but would miss having big hair every so often. I wouldnât miss detangling though.
Me too! That's what got me to click on the video đ„°
I find it so cool that your hair looks like Marley hair
Aw thank you!
It is my opinion that these very good quality Type 4C Hair videos (made by people with Type 4C Hair like yours) highly represents what ALL people with Type 4 Hair goes through with keeping a styled look by preventing knots and tangles. This applies to myself and all of those with Type 4 Hair (yes, including with myself being one with Type 4A Hair). I used to follow some of these techniques as a child for I had very little tools, supplies, and assistance in doing my own hair so it would get extra dry and coarse. This is quintessential knowledge and a guide of reference (for us all who possesses Type 4 Hair) to having healthy hair.
I thought you had dreads at first! Sooooo thick and beautiful! â€ïž
When I delay detangling my hair too long, I get locs in training! My hair will loc for no reason at all. Be careful with delays. Plus, if you have rugged 4c hair like mine, thoroughly wet your hair, then seal with oils like avocado and then castor, not always coconut oil.
I always prolong detangling my hair đđ€ŠđŸââïž
Hahah story of my life!
Delayed detangling is the best. Literally just took out my box braids and didn't finish until I nighttime. Instead of lazily detailing and risk damaging my hair, I did a low manipulation style and will save my detangling until wash day. Also, you really helped me understand my shed hair better in this video. I had so many straggly ends when I took my 3 month old braids down but it makes so much since if the shed hair didn't have anywhere to go for months. Thanks for sharing. đ
I just came here to admire the hair đđđ
It look like I might have found my hair twin, now I have a clear sight of what I should do to achieve my goal :)
awesome video
This video!!!đđđđ Absolute great content.đ§Ąđ§Ąđ§Ąđ§Ą Talking over and live talking are both great. My hair also does that dangle-y thing at the ends.
Shaquae Jackins thank you very much for your feedback. Iâm pleased to hear that! đ
I do this and I didnât even know this was the or a thing to do!!! I am like u... I donât like doing my hair and a lot manipulation. Beautiful, u and your hair. God Bless!!
Thank you for this video. Iâve tried this on my girls and it works just as you described. Itâs has been a life saver!
Yaaaaaaaay! This is brilliant to read! Well done, parent!
As I watch more of your videos, it makes me so proud of myself bc I learned a lot of what your sharing on my own with a similar mindset even while facing texturism(even in my family lol).
Damn your hair is all my hair goals in the whole world!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I like both your live talking and voice over. I watch hair videos to see people handle their hair and it seems a lot of people cut a lot of that out. Awesome awesome video.
Pleased to hear that you like to see the raw messy handling that normally ends up as discarded footage. Thanks for dropping a comment! đđđ
What a pleasure to see you again and I really like you hair
Lol that Hair Whipping YASSS đ„đŻâđŸ
I love your channel content. I'm happy to see someone on you tube with similar hair to mine.
Diann Cotterell happy to provide some representation.
Thanks for sharing, your hair looks beautiful and is thriving very well. Voiceovers are nice.
I like the voiceover! I helps me stay on track/ focused
I totally agree with prolonged detangling..I only detangle a little before and after I wash my hair. Love your hair btw
Love your texture and job well done!
Ok, I LOVE THIS!!! I'm not so great at the French braid simply bcuz it's not my go-to. However, my hair is so freaking long and I'm needing to have a quick night time routine to adjust to having thick, long hair. I used to do super-micro twists for years, and now I'm actually also going to try doing thicker twists like you're doing, to be more casual with my styles (doing my own hyper-micro twists is a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng process!). Thanks so much. Love your channel and IG. :-)
This is neat! My clumps would be locs by day 3 though lol. But a twistout could last half a week without turning into this and with no maintenance or scarves..Just way too thick to try this method but it looks beautiful smh. Wonderful video!! Thanks for keeping us informed đ
Thanks for explaining. I get it much better now!
I love your hair!!! The style and texture so reminds me of the Quann Z twins.
I love this song, and technique, new sub!
I think I prefer the voice over but ur live talking is also great and it comes in handy..
I didnt know those were shed hairs...I just thought my hair was breaking.
Probably not! đ
Me too lol
Can u show us ur updated detangle session please? u mentioned in your older video (the wash and go detangle vid) how detangling is much easier for you now. thank u great vid!
Thanks great tips I canât wait to implement this into my routine itâs gonna be changing not splitting the twist out when taking them apart. how many of you can undo your twist and not separate them just wondering I like to separate them for additional volume makes the fro look slightly biggerđ©đŸâđŠ±
I really like your videos and I love that style of bonnet/turban. Do you have a link for it? Also, a combination of voice over and live is my personal favorite!
Live !! I definitely love your accent and play by play
Thank you for this video. I will try it. Can you please share a link or info on how to purchase the bonnet you are wearing. Thanks so much!
Gorgeous!
Yes, I've come to look and feel for those danglers
Dangling ends litter my blankets. If I delay detangling, I get some unexpected loc wannabes! I have to detangle my twists or I say hello to locs.
Beautiful!!!!!
Thanks!
Gorgeous hair
Great video.
Beautiful healthy hair âșïžâșïžâșïžđ
This is so smart
I love love love your accent and your hair :)
I have 4c hair and for some reason my hair doesn't stay clumped when I undo the corkscrews (2 strand twists). Apparently it loves itself too much lol. I've started plaiting my hair now and thankfully that seems to be working for me
Thumbs up before watching...
These look like locs, I must tryđ
And yes I delay detangling and rarely use combs
My hair does the same thing all my shed hair collects at the ends.
This makes detangling my ends really difficult because I have to be SO careful
Thank you Naturally High.
When you order the Irish Moss leave-in
Does it take a long time for you to receive your order? I leave in North America. Also would you share the ingredients listed in the Irish Moss Ieave-in conditioner?
Thank you so much â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
...luv ur accent and music bombđ beautiful hair hunđŻ where can I find that song?
Nykia Rodriguez the song is called Indigo Blue by Nadine. You can find it on Soundcloud.
Naturally High thank you đđŻ
I like both, but i prefer voiceover
Love the video do you do this routine every night?
You are the truth. Thanks for sharing â€
đ„° youâre most welcome! đđđđ
Love your channel! What should you do when you pull those long hanging shed hairs and they are already tied onto other strands of hair?
yahs1989 you might want to trim them.
your accent gives me goosebumps
Thanks for sharing! This is what I wish I'd known when I first tried WaterOnlyHairWashing - hope to again later by Gods grace. The twists won't unfurl. You re LP I think? but am HP, so if I try doing as you with my shorter hair, I will have to still braid near the tips, Iand otherwise, Id do loose braids if not loose-twists. We'll see.
I prefer the live version to the voice over. However, both are good
Gorgeous hair at 9:39! đ»I'm 50 shades of green, lolđ»
I cant wait
I just like watching 4c hair videos even though I don't have 4c hair đ
Question: how often do you trim your hair?
OMG you have about 10 ppl hair right there đŻđŁđŁđŁđŁđ„ đ„ đ„ đ„ đ„ đ„ đ
Yes I definitely have delayed shedding !!!
Hola tengo el cabello con producto pero se me cabello que podrĂa hacer para que me crezca nuevamente
This was definitely not lazy, lol. đ
No daily detangling. Iâll try for weekly detangling but I need stretch more for less loss.
These tendrils look like loose locs and I like but some ppl like to look so neat a d straightish.
Finally I got my hair type with the same texture as mine
My question where did you get your gorgeous turban?
Always gorgeous
You give me hope. Just started following you on Instagram. Do you 1st braid your hair from the roots than twist most of your hair to achieve each individual lock look?
I'm so pleased to hear this. Yes, exactly. This is a twistout resulting from twists with plaited roots.
Is this a night routine for every night?
your hair is beautiful. I prefer voice over
Is your hair not still wet the next day? With even light misting on Fridays after school, my hair is still damp when I take down my 8 or so braids on Monday morning. đŁ
C Jones no it isnât but my heating has been on so the air in my room is quite dry. If you find your hair stays damp, just use leave-in without any water.
What is your hair porosity?
Your hair is so gorgeous and shiny. I think mine lacks shine.
KeepingItReal Naturalist thank you! My hair is not naturally shiny. The shine comes from the leave-in and castor oil.
@@NaturallyHigh what leave-in do you use?
KeepingItReal Naturalist Irish Moss Leave-In by Mixtress J. You can find her on Instagram/Facebook.
ACV is an astringent. Meaning it removes moisture from whatever it comes into contact. Have you ever considered trying a water / 100% aloe vera juice combination for your nightly routine instead?
Lisa Walker, Psy.D. Hey! My use of ACV in this video was a total accident. I had wanted to just use water so I poured liquid from my drinking bottle into my spray bottle. It turns out I had been drinking ACV water. Since ACV doesnât affect my hair badly, I used this mixture but feel free to use aloe juice.
The acidity of ACV promotes closure of the cuticle, which could help the hair stay moisturised. It was at a very low concentration as well, around 5%, so it didnât have a noticeable drying effect.
I have used Aloe juice in the past. Iâm also a fan of that.
@@NaturallyHigh If you drink water with ACV added , you will definitely taste it.
Where do you buy your leave in conditioner from?
I get it in Trinidad from Mixtress J.
Would you ever heat train your hair to avoid the tangling and coiling?
No
I have this texture but I donât think it will ever get this thick or long :/ Iâm 2 years 5 months natural.
So are your roots plaited the whole time?
Lashandaaa yes - until my full wash day.
Does this routine prevent your hair from locing?
It doesnât make my hair lock if thatâs what you mean.
What is the name of your leave in creme conditioner?
Thank you
Valerie Price Irish moss leave in from mixtress j
Lets see your detangling day and how much hair you really loose/ shed on that day
Which leave in conditioner do you use?
Nickiesha Robinson Irish Moss Leave-In from Mixtress J.
Wait how did you get your 4c hair to look like locs?
It just does that lol
What was your leave-in?
Irish Moss Leave in by Mixtress J! đ
I donât want to sound rude but what do you do besides CZcams? Just interested love u đ
PlushieBlushie right now? Iâm learning German and teaching English in Zurich but a few months ago I was studying towards my masterâs. Iâm also looking for work related to biotechnology/pharma. :) If you follow me on Instagram youâll see more of my daily like in my stories. Thanks for your interest!
Naturally High how did you get the job teaching English e.g. any special qualifications, experience, certs necessary or native speaker? Do you teach Adults/children etc interested in doing the same
Naturally High wow thatâs amazing đ
I'm a native speaker and got CELTA certified one summer during my bachelor's. I was lucky enough to have my employer, the Maastricht University Language Centre, sponsor it. I started teaching children in Spain but I've since taught adults on courses ranging from Business English to English for Academic Purposes and others on exam preparation (IELTS, CAE, BEC etc.). You'll need a formal certificate (CELTA/TEFL) and a university degree for most positions.
Naturally High thanks a lot for reply this is very helpful and much appreciated.
Do both voiceovers and lives the effect is better. I love your videos >>>>>>
Yummy!
Live please!
I think delaying detangling is logical. No need to detangling until you are ready to wash your hair. That would be entirely too much manipulation.
QUEEEEEEEEEEEEN!
Is this style loose twists?
christine1962ful hey love! These are clumps. Iâve just seen your other comment and I intend to do just that. Thank you for sharing your recommendation with me! đđđ
@@NaturallyHigh thank you for reading my comments and taking time to give them thought. It means a lot to see when you tubers listen to their subscribers and try to accomodate the needs for all different lengths etc. Looking FWD to all your upcoming offerings. I've ended up just cornrowing my hair straight back in basic cornrows for now and plan to keep them in as long as possible and take what I can from your videos to help retain any length and low manipulation. So for now, it will be keeping the ends extra moisturised, and I will dapply a spray leavein mixed with oils every other day at night to keep my hair hydrated and moisturised. The odd water rinse in the shower (no rubbing), and/or just applying a watered down mixture of shampoo to my hair and just patting it on a light scalp massage to clean scalp, same for deep conditioner just patting it into wet cornrows, rinse and moisturise, then cover with silk scarf to dry and reduce any frizz. I'm keep my hair covered with a satin cap and wearing a hat or wrap most of the time. I believe the plaited clumps will be coming next once I get the full grasp. Thank you for acknowledging me.
christine1962ful low manipulation is always good! Thanks for sharing that with me. More content on this topic to come.
Have a lovely week! đ
Voiceover
Yeah. I always get those dangling shed hairs too but I can usually tell the difference since my ends are blonde lol (yes I'm still a bad natural)
You do too! Thatâs helpful though! At least you know for sure that theyâre shed. I sometimes leave them dangling as a âbufferâ since I know my ends will knot up anyway and I may as well let the shed hair do it. đWas going to mention that too but thought it might be too extreme for some people. With your blond hairs, this âbufferingâ method could work really well. Your ends would kind of be like telomeres on the end of DNA 𧏠which prevent the main part of the strand from being damaged.
I could not. I have to give it to her. Iâd grab the scissors quick. As beautiful as our hair is, why does it take the most work to keep healthy and is the most fragile đ
teahgurl I hear you!
Live
Is the lack of clothes an artistic choice? That aside, your hair looks lovely!
J Mcginn thanks! Yes, it is. Thoughts?
@@NaturallyHigh perhaps the lack of clothes is adding to the zen feel of your videos đ€...certainly to the earthy, relaxed vibe which is great. If you have specific reasons or benefits perhaps you could share in an upcoming video? Thx and love your content and aesthetic. đđŸđ
J Mcginn aww thanks! I like it because Iâm a minimalist and donât have loads of different clothes to wear in each video. It also simplifies my decision-making when it comes to what Iâm going to wear.
Still confused!
Live is much better than voice over. Thanks for asking!
Agreed!
