    Hair-lo lovelies,
    Follow me on Insta @Naturally_HIgh_Hair. After having loved the longevity I got from rope twists but not being so fond of the flatter look they gave me, I decided to try loose rope twists. In this video, I give you an update on my life in Switzerland, and show you my new twisting technique. I hope you find this video entertaining!

    I think they all have their pros and cons, but aesthetically, the loose twists are still my fave. I just love volume and I love 4c texture. It’s the most attractive thing in the world to me. But your hair is gorg no matter what you do! Thanks for posting!

    You should definitely do an updated wash and twist maintenance video especially for this set of twists. For the summer I've started wearing mini braids. I love them but it's just the takedown is horrible lol.

    This is a great video showing the differences between the twists. I did a few hybrid twists back when you started rope twisting, so that my hair would try to be as full as yours...then you up'ed your game with the REAL hybrid twists. I see what you did there... They look wonderful! Keep these videos coming!

      Fine Natural Hair and Faith thank you for your kind words! If you’re looking for a longer lasting style, loose twists aren’t the best option as they age really fast. I’d go for hybrid twists if I were you.

    I'm a non-braider natural so I really liked this video. Fave new video 😍. I think I will try the hybrid twists this weekend. I have been struggling lately to retain length, especially in my crown area. I used to do twists every single week and had lots of length retention, I'm gonna get back to it. Btw, your hair is goals 😍. I have 3c/4a hair but love how beautiful the texture of 4c hair is, its like a work of art especially in beautiful updos that really emphasize the texture.

    I like the thicker ones! I di another version that I guess developed out of laziness lol. I braid the root 2-4 times then rope twist loosely, but only with my right hand. So, I twist the piece of hair then put it over the other one with my right hand, then do it again for the other piece that's now in my right hand. At the end, I do normal twists loosely to prevent tangling. So, it lasts long, but I still get the looser twist look. :)

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  Před 6 lety +1

      Chin926 ah so effectively, you get a very similar result and develop decent motor movement in your right hand. :)

    Loose rope twists (hybrid) or loose senegalese twists are my winner. That's what feels natural and effortless to my hands when I twist. My finger naturally twirl and twist at the same time and I don't have to think about it. Depending on how long I want to keep the twists, I either start with a braid or a twist. I have tried all the other twists and all types of hybrid versions of those twists combined together or with braids (plaits) but I always come back to loose rope twists. My hair is full, big with thick strands but it tangles very easily. When I do loose or normal twists, they start locking up within a week if I don't oil them every night. So twirling the hair before twisting made perfect sense to me. Plus I like the neatness of the rope technique and the fullness of the loose one. For my hair, the install and take down are fast and easy and I don't end up with knotted and tangled hair. To prevent frizz and keep my twists longer, I clean my scalp with either baby wipes, witch hazel wipes or micellar wipes as needed. Even in twists I seldom wear my hair down. A satin scarf will prevent frizz while sleeping. The tight rope twisting technique is called Senegalese twist though most people believe the name comes from the extension, it actually comes from the technique. It doesn't matter the type of extension used( Marley, kinky twist, kanekalon...) If the goal is to achieve a neat tight smooth looking double strand twist then it is a Senegalese twist. Kanekalon hair is used the most simply because it's already smooth, very light and easier to work with. I like your explanation. Great job!

      Right! The correct name for what she's calling a 'rope twist' is truly the Senegalese Twist. We should always give credit to the country, the people and their culture when we appropriate their works/styles and call it always by its rightful name ...tightly or loosely twisted!

  • @sunshineandinkamedia252

    I currently do the anchor and then a 2 strand twist. They look great for a couple of days, 3 max and then they need twisting again. I tried this rope twist,.... slowly. but I like the look, flatter, longer and much more shiny. I shall be practising this, from now on. Thank you so much, for your excellent insight.

I would pin it up or make other styles with my twist or i wear a wig until my alopecia grows out. I love your 4c hair. I am starting to love my 3c. I didn't like it before. I never understand, why people never love there 4c hair. I guess we all love other people hair, but our own.Thanks x

    Quick question. At the ends of hybrid twist are you doing a tighter rope twist or a regular twist so it doesn't unravel? Hope you can answer soon as I'm thinking if trying it. Just removed my hair from mini braids, loved it and just taking a break before putting them back in. Would like to try this for a couple weeks

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  Před 4 lety

      Hey! I trust twist normally without twirling when I get nearer to the ends. They always stay in. I twirl them with a bit of water and castor oil to give them a solid curl so they don't knot up.

    Thanks for the informative video! I have been natural for about 3 years and am considering to keep my hair in twists for improved length retention and maintenance. How long does it take for you to install these? How many twists do you create in total?

    That's so cool! May I ask why you moved to Switzerland and how it compares to the Netherlands?

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  Před 6 lety +2

      Louise W I moved here for personal and professional reasons: having studied molecular biology/biotechnology, Switzerland is an exceedingly attractive place to live. So far, I’m finding all the mountains, cliffs and lakes breathtakingly beautiful. The people are also polite and open-minded. It’s different from the Netherlands but since I’m already moderately comfortable with the language, I feel more comfortable here. Moral of the story: always learn the language of the country you live in!
