I'll fill you in since I grew up that way....kids are cruel......slightly overweight equals fat enough to make fun of.....morbidly obese no one makes fun of them they feel bad... Kids are twisted af and the world's overpopulated.....quit having kids Jesus.....
Douglas Gilmore The world itself is twisted and cruel if you ask me
@@yomybutthurtzzz8051 I agree very much, this world would be better if people stop trying to have so many kids, families with a dozen kids running around are stupid, this world is not big enough anymore, there won't be enough resources or money for the rest of us that aren't trying to selfishly overpopulate the earth.
"We'll give you $500k to teach these kids to control their powers"
Man, if that isn't the best way to sum up how they probably pitched this script to Tim Allen, idk what is.
When my dad brought me this movie I was so excited cuz I loved superhero movies but their powers were so lame it was just boring to watch. I remember asking him to see if he could ask the vendor to swap for something else and I got a movie called underdog where a dog was a superhero, I don't regret it, it was 20x better lmao
Underdog is a masterpiece
Sounds you got a good deal out of that trade. Underdog is a way better movie.
Yo underdog was my shit as a kid
underdog was good
lol
Let's get something straight: As a kid, this entire movie made sense.
The story sounds like a rejected script for "The Flash"
@@adu1991 Yep. Just sounds like a bad rejected Flash movie, or a bad superhero movie starring The Flash's rejected, disowned cousin or something. Because we all know Barry Allen is too good for this movie. But we did get Kate Mara, who played Ms. Fantastic from Fant4stic, in 2015. Man, she really likes being in terrible superhero movies, doesn't she? She doesn't seem talentless. Just not too good at choosing to be in good superhero movies.
My 10 years old me enjoy this movie
@@hellboy3652 And you know what? That's fine. I enjoyed this movie when it came out on tv, back in 2005-06. I was like, 11 or 12, maybe 13. I hadn't seen many good superhero movies yet. But I did grow up on superhero cartoons like the Batman cartoons, the original one, and the one with Batman's successor, Terry McGuinness, and stuff like the Spider-Man cartoon, and the Justice League cartoon too. And the X-Men cartoon and its sequel, X-Men: Evolution. So I just enjoyed any superhero movie or cartoon at the time. Including Zoom. Years later, I realized while it was harmless fun at the time, it's not a very good superhero movie to look back on or one that ages well. But just because it has a star studded cast, doesn't mean it's automatically good. If you enjoyed it back then, cool. So did I. I was obsessed with it. I was obsessed with anime/manga, video games, and superhero cartoons/movies. Still am to some point, but I forgot this movie existed for the longest time. Like it was there one minute, and then, like a flash, gone the next. Like someone neuralized it out of my head. But as soon as I saw this thumbnail, for this review, I almost immediately recognized it, and sort of wished I hadn't. Because it just doesn't hold up as a teenager or adult. Maybe as a little boy it's alright, but as a teenager or adult, there's not really much too it. It's ok as a movie if you haven't seen any superhero movies or shows before, but if you have, then this movie just doesn't really have anything memorable or meaningful in it. It's just forgettable. Even the 2 Fantastic Four movies that came out around the time of this movie hold up slightly better. And they were boring too. But if you enjoyed this when you were 10, that's cool. Good to know. Sorry if this went on too long though.

Shouldn't the real villain be the military organization who's repeatedly removing children from their families and irradiating them?

The thing is he spun in a circle super fast he screwed a guy up to another dimension...
This bitch is tusk act 4.
I honestly never realized that the kids they picked were all white, while they rejected the ones of race until you said something. Also I think it would've been cool, if they actually made the backstories of the kids. Like how did they get their powers? Were they born with it or did they somehow get them from an alien or did someone in their family have the powers and it got passed down to the kids. Do they like having their powers? Do they want to be normal? Or stay the way they are? and what did everyone's parents say about their kids going to go live in a secret place? Or did they just burst into the kids house and kidnap them?
I actually raised an eyebrow because the way it's portrayed doesn't make it look accidental and doesn't seem subtle at all. Like I wouldn't of cared so much if the way it was shown with the rejected kids being of color while also being paired with utterly useless and gross powers didn't feel deliberate.
I'd almost call it subliminal racism to a point but I don't want to rewatch this movie to find out if other rejected kids were white or not.
@@GenericProtagonist118 There were white kids that were rejected.

What would have been cool is if each kid correlated to one of the original group members forcing him to face his past while also giving him a starter point to connect with each kid.
I have a theory about the making of this film and why it feels so choppy and lacking in backstory or any kind of understanding of why we should care about the story/characters. I believe that this story was initially going to be a tv show of some kind, with a full season of episodes spreading out the events and plot to help develop each person and give better pacing and direction for the characters and overall story. However, either because they literally couldn't think of enough material for a full-fledged tv show, or because they couldn't get a licensing deal with Smash Mouth for long enough to have them for the full show, they shrunk it down to a feature film length story.
I feel like the movie makes sense more when you’re a kid Bc their imagination fills in a lot of the gaps for them
Absolutely
this logic can be applied to literally everything, thus is not justification for poor writing.
As someone who watched this as a kid. I remember enjoying it, thinking it was a good film, and now I realize I was probably half asleep and delusional because W H A T

I mean, I wouldn't mind a dark and gritty prequel to this movie. The concept of a bunch of teenagers being taken by the military, being trained as an special ops team and then radiated so much that one of them went full psycho and killed the rest of the team but his brother is actually quite cool. Besides, as we saw, Zoom had a mental blockage on his powers, not a physical one, just imagine this dude running so fricking fast that he tears every single muscle in his body to attempt and open a portal to banish his brother and his body being so broken after the ordeal that he genuinely thinks he is unable to run again.

RDJ wasn't even RDJ in in 2006 when Zoom came out. Iron Man was still a couple years away and he was still rebuilding his credibility and trying to convince folks it was safe to cast him in stuff again.
Also I feel like the low point of his career was when his drug problems got him fired from Ally McBeel

Conspiracy theory: they shot two different movies and accidentally added them together having every other scene from the opposite script.
To me it seemed the scenes were out of order, especially with the UFO and robot
I have a theory of my own: the film was supposed to be longer and actually explain everything, but half the footage (which happened to be all the scenes explaining everything) got corrupted/lost, and they basically said "Screw it" and put all the useable footage out of order.
It was originally more of an adult superhero movie that was changed to be more of a Disney channel style film, hence the sudden shifts in tone.

"Wait we're superheroes?"
Looking back at this old video, I’m glad you’ve mellowed out a bit since then 😂
Boi, I clicked on this video expecting to see some kind of superhero movie on zoom video conferencing, had extremely low expectations, but then. I realized. You just awakened a treasure chest full of oppressed memories. I vividly remember the part where Tim Allen calls the fat boy a "chubba bubba" and the skunk scene giving me nightmares.
"She always wears a different outfit because she wants to be a princess"
Soooooo..... everyone..?
*I thought that the Wendy's scene was a repressed fever dream.*
Brother
Were you at that Wendy's when that happened?
The Wendy's scene was filmed in my home town
Dundarius Redripulin what’s the location
Kingman AZ the only reason I know that is because of the truck stop in the background
I had this movie on dvd when i was a child, i used to watch it on repeat constantly alongside classics like HoodWinked GhostRider and NachoLibre.
I like how out of all the movies you have reviewed, this one is the one that gets on your nerves
Y’all why’d I feel like he was gonna have a whole aneurism during the filming of this
Why is it cool for people to say "whole" now...? Its so lame. It's like saying "low key" or "no cap" or "lit" so so so lame
@@johnnyallenshaneprater4870 you're a whole hipster
Beatum Lowkey, no cap, a whole hipster 😂
I'll give you a whole "aneurism" during something too 😏😏 Also it is aneurysm * 😘
Could go for a kismet right now
"Running around makes your powers disappear."
Yeah i was never a big fan of Track and Field in school, because of that.
It's confirmed that people who do track and field don't have superpowers
The Flash has entered the chat
I love this channel, it gets me through my work days, and gives me a good chuckle. Seeing this movie is a fever dream, but I definitely remember the trailer being on one of my vhs movies. The big butt pool scene is the only thing I ever remember seeing from the trailer too. I remember at 5/6 years old I hated every. time. that trailer played. Now all these years later I have context
The pool scene is my favorite scene in zoom academy for superheroes cause I love that scene
dude, I'm glad I've found your platform. thank you for what you do.
