Not only is he dedicated to teaching, but when Jetstream turns into a baby the guy fucking LEAPS to save her, and no one else does, in a room full of heroes and heroes to be. What a hero. You missed the detail about royal Paine wearing glasses when she was younger (which can be seen in the yearbook), another call back to the superhero trope of being unrecognizable with the simple glass wear. Which is why Wills parents didn’t recognize her. Honestly was a small detail, but it just adds to the genius of this movie.

Warren's story arc is actually great! He def has a complex where he avoids appearing vulnerable at all costs so being rescued by someone he deemed his enemy would take time to process. Also the fact that he has to buss tables after school would also be a vulnerable spot. He doesn't want to come off as caring about status but Leila and Will treat him like a human and that's probably something he doesn't normally get from others.

Also I've always thought that studying for a test to get into university made WAY more sense than having your chances based on school credits. As someone who struggled horribly with a learning disability and depression at school, if my professional life depended fully on how well I did back then I'd be SO fucked now. At least by having the option to study for an university test I can keep my goals within reach.
Lily Anders fr, my SAT test keeps getting cancelled bc of covid and ik a lot of colleges are going test optional but that means they’ll have to look at our gpa and other stuff. I had undiagnosed adhd up until the middle of my junior year and my grades suffered bc of it, only a few SAT testing dates accommodate extended time so if they keep getting cancelled I have even more limited options than ppl who take the regular test time. My PSAT wasn’t amazing or anything but I feel like it makes me look better than my gpa does so it scares me knowing that I might not be able to take the test this year and colleges will only look at gpa.

I think it makes sense that Wareen acts the way that he is. In school they only ever see him as the son of a villain, so instead trying being mocked for it, he puts on the persona of being just that. Yet when he’s outside of school he’s just a regular dude trying to make a living. I think it also helps that Will fought him, as it knocked some sense to him.
Also remember his dad was a villain BUT his mom was a hero right? Like dude is probably mixed up and everyone at school treats him like crap so he acts like it.

In 2010, he also understands any programming language down to binary, and he took the requisite university courses to make full use of the ability.
As a weird side note, magic is also a language, and he can kind of use magic, but there aren't university courses for that.

I think the whole point of Warren’s character is duality his name War and Peace his parents and him asshole and a kind man at times. Which all and all I find very cute.

I think the point of the Warren Red Lantern parts that result in the whiplash is that he's just maintaining an image at school and flower girl already caught him with his guard down so he didn't try to bullshit and just went with it and got to the point of the scene, which is nice because it skips a lot of clunky stuff that always pollutes scenes like that in other movies, he could also have just accepted that Will bested him and moved on too, also being a genuine good guy under all the angst he can clearly see Will is down and chooses not to kick him, that's just my take on it. It's something that has actually happened to me with someone at school where we were out for blood just stopped and eventually became good friends after getting to talk a bit and hanging out, the rivalry was pointless and we moved on. The movie version is a little clunky in execution but it still makes sense and works as intended I think.

Actually, the reason college is hell for me is because of the test that I took to get in. I didn't get a high enough grade in math to have any actual freedom, so now I have to take 4 maths for my two years there 🤣🤣
honestly I don’t even understand why math is a requirement for college, unless the degree you want involves math in some way I don’t understand why students are forced to pay for a class they don’t want to take. It’s understandable that math is a required course in high school because #1 most of the math taught there is somewhat useful in everyday life and #2 it’s public so it’s not like you’re being forced to pay money in order to get your diploma but in college you’re being forced to pay a lot of money for a course you not only don’t want to take but also don’t need to take as it isn’t relevant to your degree

I’ve just summed it up to college being a business and not actually about learning. If it was about learning you wouldn’t be spending thousands of dollars on classes that don’t actually help in furthering your education towards your desired degree
