Hi Sassy 👋🏻 - yes I got mine in 2015 here in the UK for my first visit to Ghana. Yes they check it each time I enter Kotoka. Im told its a lifetime inoculation (cant remember how much it cost) - I keep it permanently inside my passport with a rubber band lol

‘African countries that requires Yellow Fever vaccination certificate
Countries that require vaccination for all travellers older that 9 months or 1 year:
Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameron, Central African Republic, Congo, Côte d’lvoire, DRC, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Niger, Togo.
Countries that requires vaccination for travellers from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission or transit for 12 hours in those countries:
Algeria, Botswana, Cabo Verde, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Lesotho, Libya, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tunisia, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.’

You did better than a medical facility and a medical doctor in Nigeria from whom I was trying to obtain this information. It's not unusual in Nigeria for professionals not to have general basic knowledge, including knowledge about their own profession.
I guess it has something to do with the substandard education system in Nigeria that's responsible for yearly cranking out poorly educated graduates. In addition, businesses are so unprofessional, they'll hire a staff and dump them to manage or be a part of a team without prior job training.

Wonderful clear advice thank you . Many countries have this minimum 10 day wait (the card isn't valid until 10 days have passed since the shot as this is the time for immunuty to build up.) I almost got caught out on that going to Ghana but fortunately I had just enough time. I can imagine so many people getting plane tickets or going to land border and not even knowing the Yellow fever certificate is needed.

Hi, thanks for the information. Do you still have to pay for the yellow fever vaccine at the Port Service office after making the payment online, or does the payment cover both the vaccine and the e-yellow card?

Thanks for the video. Is the vaccination for yellow fever and card acquisition not done in every State in Nigeria? You could have mentioned that since Nigeria is big, moving from another State to Lagos for yellow fever vaccine would probably not be cost-effective. I did mine many years ago (maybe 8yrs ago) but it was entirely manual. Can't tell if people who walk straight to hospitals/epidemiology centres and get the vaccine are duly recorded like those who register online before the vaccine @SassyFunke

It’s crazy… they say here in the US when I go to the travel vaccine clinic that it’s not required for those who do not come from a place where yellow fever is. So they say it’s not required for US travelers. However, it helps protect against yellow fever ofcourse so you can get it. But I hate the way the Nigerian airport will make you pay for something or bribe us like it’s required when it’s not. But happy I got mine and my baby, but they should make a way of not making it hard for those if they didn’t know…

While checking in to fly back to u.s. l was given the card at the counter to fill b4 going through the immigration. Not sure if it's same card ur talking about. Never paid anything for it.
Oh no thats just a departure card for immigration (its also yellow in color). This is proof of a vaccinated that you get when injected with the vaccine.

At the airport. Murtala Mohammed international airport, once you get there and ask the security official, they will direct you to the exact location.

That’s very odd. As there is no age bracket
Pick 2012 and for some reason, earlier dates will show up. Pick the earliest and more will appear.

They are just taking a piss. Nija route is extremely profitable, and they are milking on it. Nigeria has a driving force that we don't even realise ourselves, and I think that if we could unite and boycott travelling for a year or two, maybe they would have a rethink. It's very annoying.
But they selling this same card at the airport at 3500 naira
Its FAKE and it will be rejected. Don't buy it.
True, they sell the fake one at the airport terminal and don’t give you the vaccine.
So one has to go to the right center, pay , get the vaccine, and get the original.
Imagine being asked to pay as much as 7k naira.
