I feel kinda bad about this but when he gets his ass beat and he calls Tony crying I always lmao, the way he says "I'm sorry I let you dowwwwwn!" just destroys me.
@@MollyFC Same. He's just so pathetic. And I think we know he's not going to go through with suicide since we saw how he didn't go through shooting Tony after finding out about Vesuvio's arson.
The fact that he thought Jean Phillipe was going to just start crying once he confronted him was the funniest part of the mirror self pep talk scene.
I find it both sad and comical. I immediately THINK of Robert Dinero in HIS infamous Taxi Driver "You Talking To Me?" monologue. Poor Artie! Just like MANY other characters, he is influenced by and uses Hollywood illusions as templates for creating/faking social interactions. The writing is so layered, witty, and wise. On the Sopranos, in PRETEND "real life", humanity usually fails at succeeding in their madcap schemes and normally, people are MESSY SCREW-UPS.

...and doing H and THEN becoming de-facto #2 of the "glorified crew." Good to write yourself some job security AND fun scenes. It was a fine episode.
People look down on AJ but I just feel so bad for him, especially in this ep. for his whole life he’s been shown that love is measured by how much you can provide financially for someone, and now that he sees that Devin would never need anything from him he feels worthless and envious. Even though it obviously doesn’t bother her, he can’t reconcile that and chooses to wallow in his insecurity just like his father.
And with Blanca when he proposed and all he said he could do for the relationship was work and provide financial support, nothing about being f a good lover or being emotional supportive
That's life though, you're not gonna find a lot of guys comfortable with a woman making more money then them.

The "mansion" in this episode was filmed at Pleasantdale Chateau. My brother had his wedding there YESTERDAY. It's an incredible wedding venue. Absolutely gorgeous.

This seemed like one of the few times where AJ's role didn't revolve around him getting in trouble or his parents saying "Why aren't you doing what you're supposed to be doing AJ?" so that was somewhat refreshing at least. Although I've never understood what the hell that Devin girl saw in him.
Charmaine was too strong a woman for Artie. She had it all, looks, work ethics, intelligence and loyalty!! I think her husband was so envious of Tony and his lifestyle that he couldn't see what was right in front of him.
For real, Charmain is tough, works hard, knows that working with the mob is both risky and immoral, and is there for him through failure and success.
Women with these traits often date or commit to beta males

That annoying kid is Paul Dano who amongst his rolls played opposite Daniel Day Lewis in there Will Be Blood. My favorite is The Girl next door.

Paul Dano has been an annoying, ugly worm of a character in everything I've seen him in. It's like he's typecast as the most punchable person in the film. Even here, his mushroom hairdo makes you want to give him a Daniel Plainview smack. But I'm sure he's a cool person irl

Good Artie centric episode, I love how he's always trying to be something he clearly is not because he's bored with his kind of normal life. But considering the fate of most of the other characters in the series Artie made out pretty well! Also I love how Artie keeps hiring these very pretty hostesses who keep coming up with ways to scam him, like him wanting to be a loan shark it's like he wants to have an affair like Tony BUT never actually pulls the trigger, but he gives these women jobs anyway. What a great character.
"What do you think? All of a sudden, she wants to go play hide the Boudin Blanc with you?" I had to look that up. I thought it was wine but it's actually french sausage. That's a great line.
One of my favorite episodes of the show, the Artie scenes with him trying to be hard is so funny
"I called you five times, qu’est-ce que c’est? Message machine broken?"
The dream sequence with Gloria always gives me the creeps… also the Virgin Mary/Paulie scene and the dream where Tony is at the house for the masonry job and Livia is on the steps cloaked in darkness 😱

I always liked Artie. He seemed like a guy with a good heart who kept getting in over his head by the people surrounding him.
I liked it when furio pays that guy a visit. It's give me one thousand dollar and more.
The scene where Artie rehearses his tough talk in the mirror is probably the most relatable and painful part of the whole series for me.
Couple of three things: (1) Matt's haircut is wearing him. "Dweeb" is the perfect descriptor (2) Armagnac is awesome; it's the only liquor my grandfather would drink (3) AJ had a sweet piece of candy, and dropped it in the dirt. Oh, and Billy Joel in concert is awesome.
Not to mention she was a Hoowa.
That friend Matt is indeed underrated for how fucking annoying he was. That haircut was outdated even for 2002.
That hair makes me want to grab some clippers
I think he's so odd looking. No matter what haircut he had, he was still going to look like an ugly dork. The haircut really did him no favors though.
Artie trying to play gangster was really funny, showing how jealous he was about Tony's power.
