  • Saw this repair and seems interesting, just thought I try it for myself. There's plates for both side, front and back. My initial thought was to remove the mani and attempt to extract the broken bolt, but the one on the far back don't have enough space to work on. This seem to be the best simple solution there is.
    Thanks for watching

The early and maybe mid 2000's chevy trucks had a problem with exhaust bolts breaking off. My '02 tahoe had a few studs broken off on the drivers side and started to leak in the rear of the manifold. I hesitantly put this bracket on about 8 years ago and it solved the leak and no issues since. I slightly tighten the bolt down each year just to keep it snug. I was shockingly impressed with this fix as it has allowed me to NOT do some extensive work with retrieving broken off studs.

That’s a great workaround! I hope it lasts the life of the truck.

No... no... no... Fix it right. Pull the manifold. Machine shop will flatten it for peanuts. While they are working on that get the right set of plug wires and route them correctly. Stop curb checking with your tires.

No.. no.. no…The leak is caused from broken stud and you want to remove the header and run the risk of breaking more studs? And to extract the stud you need to remove the head, there simply not enough room. Lastly those look like aftermarket Wires, they’re suppose to be longer, as long as they’re don’t interfere with moving part or touch any hot, they install correct.
