Sweet install video for the 11-14 mustangs!! Detail is key, hope this helps a lot of people out there. Happy modifying😎
Great video, thanks for the step by step instructions. Best 18 manifold video on CZcams.
This vid helped me a lot! Thanks for the break down on everything, did my ported 18 manifold and lu47 injectors all by myself thanks to this video💪🏽
Great video! Only took me an hour and a half, following the video step by step. Very happy!
How much power u put on?
The video I’ve been waiting for 👍🏻
Going to install one of these on my F150 5.0 soon.
still the best 18 manifold swap video
Hey I have that same set of matco silver eagle Torx bits! Use them every day.
Solid video peeps...
does reusing the stock throttle body from a 14 gt make any different hp numbers than a 2018 throttle body?
What are the bolts used for the new water neck install?
Nice!!
Seems you could just route brake vacuum to cmcv port for a cleaner install.
Do you need an adapter for a charge pipe or cold intake, because 18's mani TB sits higher.
@ vmpperformance will this fit my 2013 coyote f150?
Awesome
I wonder if any g1 guys have put the 18 intake cover on after this install? I know I don't really like the under hood of my 18. Valve covers look like crap without the coil covers as well.
You guys are the best! Thank you VMP!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Hey Tom, you are welcome!
@@VMPPerformanceTV do you think we could get some Dyno #'s someday please? Curious to see it with lockouts.
For anyone wondering where to get the rubber cap for the back you need 1 5/16 rubber cap you can find at any parts store
Installing this on a buddies car, he didn’t buy those little plates, do I need those or another method?
@@austin96beal I’m pretty sure you need them not sure tho
@@dddddd5481 watching another video now🥴
@@austin96beal you can just use zip ties if you want to keep them open.
What size cap is the IMRC one you have to cap?
Torn between this and the boss 302 intake packages y'all sell. Unsure as to what the best option is.
Awesome video!! I appreciate the time you guys took to make it! Only thing is that you guys forgot to add to plug the fpdm back in as well as connecting the fuel line to the fuel rail. I was following this video step by step and I was stupid and didn’t connect the fuel line, I only bolted the fuel rail in place so when I went to start my car, it primed the fuel and covered my engine in gas 😂 not your guys’ fault obviously but I wish it had that specific small step in the video so idiots like me wouldn’t forget lmao!
Did you modify the knock sensor harness
Did you had to modifiy the knock sensor harness?
What size of emissions hose, thanks guys great video
Ever figure this out?
Great video I think I can do it now
Does those red lockouts serve the same purpose as the ones that you used in the video
Same process on 11-14 f150 5.0?
Can it be compatible with a auto transmission?
I just installed this and a pmas on my 2014 gt haven't had my tune revised but I'm getting a P0316 and P0270 could that be tune related?
Previous tune was for stock manifold and steeda pro flow cold air intake
Torque specs and sequence?
I didn't have to modify the water neck or bolt on my 2014 F150 5.0. It dropped right on and bolted down fine.
Thanks for this info. I'm getting ready to install the 2018 F150 manifold on my 2014 F150. Glad I don't need to buy the new water neck. Did you notice any improvement with the 2018 manifold?
Why model the brake booster?
Is this the same process to do this to a 2014 f150 coz I see 2015 f150 upwards saying u need to drill at the back to add a map sensor plz give some some info about it coz I want to do mine
I just installed a 2018 truck manifold on my 2012 F150 which is the same as your 2014. No drilling required. My 2018 truck manifold had a hole for the map sensor, which I just left in and unplugged. The 2011-2014 trucks don’t have that sensor.
Does a 15-17 intake work on a 18? Like a holly sniper sheet metal intake??
Yes with custom tuning, however, I don't think its any better.
Is there a knock senor mod needed to or knock sensors need moved a little
For installation of the 18+ intake manifold you do not have to modify the knock sensors or change their position.
Exactly what I needed!! I've had this manifold for 2 months sitting in my dining room cause there was absolutely no information out there on this. I only have 2 questions: 1) If any, what sort of modifications have to be done to the wiring harness on the underside of the manifold?
2) What's the purpose of changing out the water neck and is it absolutely necessary to repressurize the radiator system before adding coolant?
Hey, there are no wiring changes on 11-14, just remove the vacuum canisters on the back and install the VMP CMCV limiters available on www.vmpperformance.com/
The 18 manifold sits lower and interferes with the water neck. You can grind it down, or replace it.
The method shown for refilling the coolant system is know as vacuum filling and is the quickest and least likely to result in air in the system. However, the old fashioned method of just adding coolant may be used, you just have to let it reach operating temp to let the t-stat open and make sure all the air is out.
Do the automatics really need that second hose from the brake booster into the CAI? I really wanted to delete that hose and just have the brake booster hose go into the manifold like how you did with the manuals
If I decide to not unhook the water neck do I still have to re pressurize the coolant system? I would assume it’s fine if I don’t take any coolant out
Correct
For a cleaner install, could you use the 2018 evap solenoid and hoses along with re-routing the solenoid wire and connector?
how ?
@@XxxanthonyeXxx I did it to my 2014 F150. For the electrical I tore apart the original evap valve to use its connector and made an extension cable to the new evap valve that is mounted closer to the firewall. For the plumbing, I bought a compatible hose connection and connected it to the original evap hose.
Should’ve did this for a cobra jet
How much power will this add over the stock and boss 302 intake? Does it also help with low down torque?
Around 45hp
Torque not so much
The hoses that I need are they specific or can I go to auto parts store and just vacuum and emission hoses?
You can use the appropriately rated bulk hose.
Thank you for the video. When I try to install the purge solenoid, the evap line connection does not extend past the two manifold connection ports. These ports are in the way of connecting the solenoid. On your video it appears that your evap line extends past the manifold connection ports by two or three inches, allowing room for the connection. My car is a 2012, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference. Any idea why my evap line does not reach as far as yours?
What do you mean clearance waterneck bolt like completely take off or just loosen?
Im worried it’s going to leak if i just leave that bolt unscrewed
is this the same process for a 17 intake manifold going in a 14 mustang gt
Same thing no point
Your pulling a vacuum on cooling system not pressurizing it correct?
Thats right, the tool pulls a vacuum on the system to check for leaks, and then to re-fill it with coolant. It works really well, and is kind of cool to watch.
Hey I just recently bought a 18 mani and I looked into getting the CMCV limiters and it said it wasn’t compatible with my car. I have a 2011 mustang GT
You can ignore that message
So if we swap on a 15-17 waterneck, do we reuse the the piece that screws in up top from the old water neck or do you need to buy a new piece for the 15-17 waterneck?
Ford sells the water neck both ways.. I would just get the more expensive one with the tube.
@@VMPPerformanceTV Thank you for the response. I actually just got home from tuning the car about an hour ago. Install was a breeze thanks to this video. My mechanic was able to reuse the valve and seal it properly so it all worked out.
do you have to have a custom tune to run this intake manifold on 11-14 car?
Absolutely we do, a VMP level 2 with datalogging and revision support
What’s the diameter of the “emissions hose”? Half inch?
You ever find out? That’s all I need is the hoses but don’t know the sizes.
What kind of hose should I use for the brake booster vacuum hose? None of the parts stores seem to carry vacuum hose in 3/8. Did you use fuel hose?
There is vaccum specific hose made by gates but any firm hose would work in a pinch, I would get the right house for a critical system like brakes.
VMPPerformance is there a link to that particular hose?
Has anyone done the stock water neck and just removed the bolt and had any leaking issues?
Haven’t heard of any leaks but probably would be best to swap it with a 15-17 water neck.
What's the wheel and tq gains on just the intake swap, and does anyone know if it's worth the swap on 11-14 F150's.
Man O War check out VMP intake shootout for power numbers. You can put it on a 11-14 f150 coyote but they don’t rev as good due to the intake cams. Stock manifold with the torque is best in my opinion 🤔
@@NITROUSnBIASPLYS Thanks.
Um so I decided to not buy the aftermarket waterneck and had the bolt loosened perfectly and at any point that it was loosened the manifold would hit and not even be lined up with it at all… I had to completely remove that one waterneck bolt to even make it work at all, will this cause a problem?
You're at high risk for a leak at the water neck, as with heat cycling, materials shrink and grow etc. This will eventually cause it to move due to it not having enough clamping force to hold it in place as it was designed to have.
Does 15-18 throttle body work on 2011-2014?
No, you will need the 11-14 throttle body for an 11-14 car
Do I need a certain kind of CAI to go along with this?
Other than the manifold what else do I need to purchase for install on a 2012 gt with manual transmission.
We have a kit on our website that includes the CMCV lock-outs and the other parts necessary to install on your 2012 GT

What is the point of the VMP Plug & Play CMCV Harness if you take them off to put on the lockouts?
You wouldn't use the harnesses if you locked out the CMCVs. We recommend retaining them as it doesn't hurt power and gives a bit better drivability.
The bolt is Removed from the water neck will it not leak coolant being only 2 bolts hold it on
Still no reply?? Lol I wanna know the same thing
No. Been running it for over 6 months now.
Can I run this intake with an 87 octane tune. Would like to purchase both 87 and 93 octane tunes.
Hi Stevie, we typically recommend 93 octane or as close as you can get with a modified Coyote, as they're a high compression engine. Shoot us an email to sales@vmpperformance.com and our support team can look into setting you up with tunes to suit your goals/needs. Thanks!
How am i supposed pressurize it if I’m doing this at home
What did you do?
What intake should I put on 2015 Ford F-150 xlt v8!
Good question, what are your goals? more HP, towing, etc. Do you plan to tune it as well?
Yes tune it soon! But who should I tune with??
more torque and hp for sure
And maybe a supercharger from u guys but for now I want all the power I can get before putting supercharger or maybe I can be guided in a better way thanks ✌️ o and it 2wd and not planning to do any towing maybe if one day I need to tow my friends chevy or my Chevy but not much towing for her want her more for pure powa!
Where do I get the lockers ?

Would I need different throttle body if intake manifold is ported ik this might be a dumb question but I honestly have no idea HELP
It is not required and actually these vehicles run best with their original throttle bodies naturally aspirated with mild modifications. If any thing, you could consider a ported version of your stock throttle body from our friend Bret Barber at Air Flow Solutions. Not a dumb question at all!
Thank you I just emailed them
Is it necessary to have the cmcv lockout plates?
you can just use zip ties.
@@tommydoepel6580 how so
Is there a dyno sheet out for this specific setup? I have seen the video for the 15-17 but am curious about the differences for the 11-14 cars
We have dyno results for 11-14 coyote with 18 IM swap, with LTs, on 93, in the chucky video series.
I am doing this swap onto my 13. I currently have the stock throttle body does that one work or would I need to buy a bigger one.
Stock is perfect, do not spend your money on aftermarket ones.
Will I be able to shave a section underneath the manifold for it to clear the bolt instead of having to remove it or replace the water neck?
Works but risky… I did go with the different water neck tho
Regarding the water jack bolt, are you saying you can remove the bolt completely so only the driver's side bolt is holding it on and then the intake just goes on over?
Yes, but we could recommend grinding it down so the bolt can be re-installed. The 15up water neck is lower on that side so it does not need grinding.
I just swapped the 2018 intake onto my 2013 , I Did Not have to make Any modifications like swapping out the water neck or removing or grinding the bolt, also did not have to make any modifications to the knock sensor harness below manifold. The intake dropped right in, and bolted right up, not sure why there are all these different mods when they are not necessary.
@@johnjerrigo567 interesting, thanks for that.
@@johnjerrigo567 yep I installed it on my 14 too without removing bolt and just popped in
I had to mess with the harness and take the 1 bolt out mine wouldn't fit at all like u guys im gen 1
You don't happen to recall the cap sizes you used to cap the ports in the video.
Yeah that would be helpful
@@patrickortiz4799 Yep...would keep me from going back and fourth to the parts store. Could get everything I need all at once and get the job done.
Is there a reason behind connecting the red port to the passenger side and the blue to the driver? Every other guide I have seen or tutorial has them backwards which makes it look cleaner. Before I make any install or connections I wanted to see if it matters in what port they connect. Thanks.
You can hook it up either way, we decided for our install to keep all the connections in the factory locations.
@@VMPPerformanceTV so no harmful effects either way? The link you provided with all the kit to install doesn't work anymore. Could you provide a new one thank you.
The link is fixed to the product! Here it is for the 18 manifold! bit.ly/19-October-YT-10819-YT-18Manifold
Are you guys selling this as a kit with the tune? $?

Not to bad compared to the boss intake. Time to save. Ughh I hate saving lol.
Are you going to do this(or did it to) project chucky?
VMPPerformance I don’t see this
The '11-14 engine cover doesnt fit the '18 intake manifold?
It does not, but you may be able to modify it to fit
Here you go: czcams.com/video/CGVhrNqQQVE/video.html
@@VMPPerformanceTV, or does a 2018 engine cover fit the 2011 after manifold modification?
Missing the step were you remove the injectors and fuel rail from the old manifold!
So just hypothetical questions VMPPerformance can u put roush supercharger on v6 .. idc what any one think it's just question
No
Procharger makes a kit for the V6. There are also turbo kits for those cars.
Considering in won't fit in any way, shape or form, I'd say no.
Hold up what’s the purpose of drilling above the pcv connection ?
That’s for automatics who have that extra line
@@Rg3ofakind what’s the reason? Is it needed?
@@kamrenrickey6290 on your cold air intake, yes if you are installing on a automatic. The manuals don’t have to
Anyone else get a weird evap leak code?
Dude are you checking those torque specs for the install?
You weren't pressurizing the coolant system, you were pulling a vacuum on it
Damn, that explains it!!!!
Iv seen the chuck vid i think you gain like 5 or 10 hp not worth it i find
Curve gains are gonna be the biggest change
$500 for 5-10 hp above 6500 rpm. You'll pay for it dearly by sacrificing hp and torque below that. Save your money and get a blower, or don’t waste your time. If you add all the power under the dyno curve, this manifold is a “net loss”. Multiple dyno runs prove this, look them up.
Yeah, no they don’t. Everything all together for this swap (assuming you have an SCT X4) is around $350 and the net gains with a CAI and a 93 VMP tune you’re easily looking at 40 horsepower, and that’s not even just peak horsepower thats all throughout the curve. These intake also don’t drop power at 6500 rpm like the stock intake, so revving until 7k actually has a use
lol you don't have a clue what you're talking about. I have an 18 manifold on my 2016, and 1/4 mile time dropped over 1 second between the mani and E85 tune. Not everyone can afford 10 grand for a blower.
Blower blower blower. Get a credit card and buy one.
Andddd first 😎
For the stock water neck option.....just remove the bolt?.....am I missing something?
Nope but they still haven’t replied to it leaking long term or not
What size hoses do you need for the evap and brake booster? The video says length but not size
3/8 id works well
