    VMP I have a question, got 18 manifold on 16gt, with your harness cables, working perfect. However, we have installed roush 15-17 cai with venturi insert tube, magnaflow full exhaust, we got 70hp wheel HP gains at the dyno and also a lot of torque in th middle ranges. Our mapper suggested to keep the venturi tube. The car is very well behaved at idle and quite quick.However, my question is there any point to remove the tube to gain any powe to 105mmr? Is it there real possibility for any power gain from 85mm to 105mm?For several horses more I am not willing to install new map and make new dyno runs, this is why I am asking for your professional opinion.

    • @VMPPerformanceTV

      The porting assists with smoothing out the power curve and extending it. Our social media guy's 16 GT picked up 30rwhp from a ported 18 intake, JTL and tune on 93 octane. You'd see a little less out of a stock intake. Here's the video and dyno results of that car. czcams.com/video/V7qLgFEdMb8/video.html

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 3 lety

      Yes, we kept the IMRCs active on this installation and would recommend doing so. The fuel mileage benefits and drivability, while not huge differences, are worthwhile when there's really no major difference in performance between having them locked out and active.

      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 3 lety

      Hi Reubin! IMRCs function in a way that assist with increasing fuel economy/drivability by varying runner size/volume. We typically keep them because under WOT conditions they're fully open and we offer harnesses to adapt a '15-'17 Mustang's IMRC plugs to them. In the end, it's between you and your tuner as to how you wish to set up the function of the vehicle. It's not going to harm/hurt the vehicle either way and the tuner will set up your file according to whether or not they are locked out.

  • @kritikopedo
    @kritikopedo Před 5 měsíci

    @VMPPerformanceTV I have been putting this off for a while; two questions if you could kindly answer it would be much appreciated! I have a 17GT that needs the 18 manifold. At the same time, I plan on replacing the head temperature sensor. I didn't see it in the video; I was hoping to see where it was. I need to replace it because my radiator fans are starting (full speed) from even a cold start (car sitting the entire night). I am not overheating, my digital gauge inside shows about 200F head temperature when driving. I checked the three relays in the engine fuse box, bench tested them, they all click over - measured them (compared measurements to new relays) everything looks about the same. I plan on replacing the thermostat, and maybe even the water pump (for good measure) because i read the water pump can randomly fail. I'm just at 45k miles. So the first question was about the head temperature sensors location. Given this video has been out for 5 years time, has anything changed with the kit? I will go ahead and buy the plug and play harness and keep the IMRC as you seem to recommend it. I understand we need a tune. The second question is about the tune itself. I am presently running 87 octane because it's the cheapest! If I get the tune, will I be forced to run 91 and up fuel? Can we get a tune that allows for 87 and up fuel instead of a dedicated 91 + octane? Thank you so much!!!

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It is located on the back of the engine, just above the transmission on the rear of the passenger side cylinder head. As for the temperature it's reading, these cars run 200-205 on average for the cylinder head temperature. That's normal to see. As for the thermostat replacement and all of that, if you elect to do so, the tune needs to be adjusted for it so that they come on at the correct time if you change temp on the thermostat.
      The kit itself is still the same and as for the tune, we highly recommend 91+ octane fuel just because these cars are high compression and are sensitive to fuel quality. 87 seriously limits the potential of the car and as you add modifications to increase horsepower, they become even more sensitive to fuel quality. All that being said, we do offer tunes specific to octane, so just shoot us an email to sales@vmpperformance.com and our support staff can get things rolling for you.
