I've trained like this too. I'm curious. What was your set up? Meaning sets/reps but I see Dorian and others do their first exercise and I understand the warm-ups several and a heavy set but then I see his second exercise is a warmup but it's still real difficult and them his heavy set. I'm just curious on how you pick a weight that's a warmup but it looks and is taken as a hard set? Why not just warmup enough, not tire yourself AT ALL and go in on the heavy set?

I've been lifting intensely for many years. I know some say it's the "wrong" way to lift and can lead to injuries or taxing to the CNS, but I just love the euphoric rush I get after an intense workout. I've tried sub-maximal training leaving 2-3 reps in the tank in compound lifts with lighter weights at higher reps and more sets, but I just got bored and didn't get the same type of rush..

He really puts the difference between volume and intensity into perspective. Yes, higher volumes is what most people do go drive hypertrophy and time under tension. However, a couple warm up sets and then a couple all out heavy, intense working sets will drive the same stress to also build muscle.

    • @rednirabkriv5376
      @rednirabkriv5376 Před rokem +10

Correct. But I wouldn't say same stress. Hit will just tear the muscle up right there and then destroy it fast. And volume will pump it slowly over time in the end its the same result over time. Hit Is more strength focused volume is more pump focused imo

Wow, you can see/hear the Mike Mentzer influence, even the sun analogy. 2 greats changing the world of bodybuilding forever!
My first introduction came 20ish years ago from the max ot method. Competed 100% natural as a junior against guys that were on gear and ranked in top 3 regularly. That was the first proof for me the hit was very efficient for muscle growth. (although I had to diet down about 3 times longer than the guys on gear to be same low bf level).
    Become obese in 30s(35% bf).
When I turned 41,decided I needed to do something... 7 months later I was down at, dexa and calipers, verified 13% bf.
I still do hit as that's what I know, and funnily enough, there are quite a few guys (including personal trainers) coming up to me and saying I'm training too hard, I don't need to go to failure etc etc, yet I've shredded down and added 3kg muscle in this time, but the ones that are talking, I've seen little to nothing changes in their Physiques. Second time proof that hit works.
The hard part is learning what failure actually is, and it's not the ache, or burn, or red face etc... It's when the muscle can't do another rep, regardless of what you want or wish.
It's something that needs to be practiced and trained to get to that point.
To those doing it, keep at it and be proud of your achievements, to those are not, give it a try and really commit to doing it for a few months before fleeting to another program. It will change so much for you ;)

I am concerned with higher risk of injury doing the last 100% set squatting, dead lifting which do contain above average risk already. Next question is can I do it without a partner helping the last 100% sets? Thank you for all the info Dorian you are putting out. Your content has been the most helpful for me of all the hall of fame bodybuilders...

@@suryanshkalia6546 Unfortunately training with a partner died out in the 90's. And asking for a spot these days is alien also. Spotting properly is an art form in itself. Also the guy who's moving the weight has to be able to lift it to so the spot doesn't turn into some savior movement. A person shouldn't have to use anymore than a couple fingers to help the guy get past the sticking point. Anymore than that and the fucking guy is using too much weight. Anyways I can answer a thousand questions if you have. Been doing the Yates Way for 30 years.

Dorian's Blood and Guts tape pretty much changed my life, not just my training style. Because along with faster muscle growth came higher self confidence. After only 6 weeks or so, of applying Dorian's style, guys in the gym who were on juice (I wasn't) kept asking me what new juice was I on.

One thing I noticed about Dorian in 93 Mr O video. His muscles were massive and rock hard at the same time, with muscle maturity and paper think skin allowing the striations. Mr O Jay Cutler did this same kind of look in 2009 and all remember his most famous quad stomp pose..Mr O Big Ramy did in 2020. Since bodybuilding is an individual sport.. I dont think the formula can be chalked out for future!

I’ve been slowly transitioning to HIT training. Hardest part for me has been cutting down the volume. So used to the old bro split, with a couple of warmup sets followed by 8+ sets to failure twice a week per body part. Definitely overtraining. I noticed more gains on weeks where life gets in the way, and only make it to the gym 2-3 times. Rest is so important.

I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around HIT training, but I am going to start doing it today.
I have been doing killer training sessions for the last 5 years. Got some really good gains, but lately, It's teetering off.
I do so many sets for legs (like 12 sets on quads, 10 on hamstrings and 15 on leg press) Just to grow. My legs won't grow unless I torture them.
I need to try HIT to see if I gain.

I have been training for 31 years. About ten years ago, I fell in love with HIT. I never had better results since I started it! The efficiency is perfect, and the pump is fantastic. I still love it. I now have much more time for other beautiful aspects of life. I am spending more time with family and friends and preaching the good news of God's Kingdom. As a Jehovah's Witness, I look forward to training young and in the best health again! Maybe someday with Dorian. That would be nice! We will see.
