- In this video I get coached by the one and only 6 x Mr Olympia winner Dorian Yates. I've always been a fan of his physique & training intensity, but after listening to his podcast interviews over the years I've learnt there's a whole lot more to the man.

The full workout can be found in the description. To really get the most out of it you would need a spotter who knows what they are doing. This is the first video I've uploaded to my channel which I've not edited myself - credit to goes to Lucas Haynes. Let me know what you think :)
Really like this filming and editing style
This was great, it'd be nice if you could make more of these
Whats the name of first track...gaves me goosebumps 👍🏻
Song name at 3.06 in?
1 of your best vids.. great edit.. & more dorian yates pls 😄
It doesn't matter how much you know about bodybuilding If somebody like Dorian Yates is teaching you it's best you shut up and listen..
FoxRacer090 Exactly, I couldn't of put it better myself!!👍🏻
FoxRacer090 yup
Dominic dominic you don't have to follow everything he says. Just listen out of respect.
that's true. if you wanna build muscle naturally you shouldn't listen to guys that take drugs.
joss almeida Drugs don't make a champion.. Hard work and knowledge do
We already know you as a master of Form, but getting it confirmed by the Dorian Yates must've felt great!
drencoss athleanx is a great physiologist with great knowledge.
drencoss Athlean X and Mike ye
Clean Athlean number 1.
I see your point Morty. Getting really big not my goal. Would hamper my muay thai which is my true passion for now. Maybe when I get to old for that I will aim to become bigger. Any good channel tips for that ? Cheers. ..... *The Plough*
The music is not fitting at all. Great video otherwise.
Dorian spoke, Mike took it all in. Respecting Experience; Exactly how it should be. Kudos Mike. And to Dorian tbf.

Yates teaching back is like Einstein teaching physics, Warren buffet teaching investing
✡️ Teaching greed
Mike’s so humble, being told stuff that he definitely already knows and just listening.
Exactly how you’ve got to be around a guy like Dorian. Much respect mate.
he definately dont know otherwise he wouldnt go train with him you see that in his reactions of his latest vids with him he feels it more plus he is shocked how sore he is 3 days after training with dirian so what does that tell you?
not training as hard as he thought in the first place dorians a legend anyone who thinks they train properly myself included will get a wake up call with him
Man I wish my gym had the nautilus machine for lats
That original machine Dorian used to use is now in a gym in the north east maxx muscle gym
@John Buffalo I am 97 no Maxx muscle gym in hetton check out ther Instagram
Legends gym Texarkana,Texas has 1
@@razorbacks1983 they are unreal
Finest back machine ever made
That pull over machine looks old and classic... can you feel how hard dorian work was....
bayu mantari it's the same machine Dorian used back in his competitive period, you see him use it on the blood and guts training videos.
That’s machine is a Nautilus pull over machine! Great machine from the 70’s and 80’s 💪🏻🆒
I went to temple gym the other day and when I saw that machine I was actually star struck. It's iconic from blood and guts. Seems like it should be in a museum. Great piece of equipment!
They should have that more around the world... its like a damn rare machine that give a proper squeeze...
Same one he tore his triceps on as well lol
I love how open that you are to learn from him. Never change this aspect of your personality. You're a humble soul, Mr. Thurston 👌👏
Its amazing Dorian practices the same exercises as everyone else, but its the unreal INTENSITY he brings to each set that put him head and shoulders above the rest. Incredible man
"yeah"
Lol 😂
Thank you! This has been a very important issue I've been facing considering in effort to grow my back. That it's more than just pulling the bar down or up but pulling/bring it down and back 🙌🏼 So nice to see an Olympian icon on your channel, you are in amidst of one of the greats 💪🏼 Much respect ✊🏼
Videos like this truly fuel my passion for bodybuilding and fitness. Just went into my first month tracking macros religiously and training with more consistency than ever. I’m not a beginner lifter but I’ve never been so diligent. I can see progress already. Your videos are awesome keep them coming.
Amazing - more of these types of videos Mike. Keep the good content coming. Absolutely love it; you're nailing it!
Yates is incredible. How he explains the exercises and makes you understand things.
Love how gracious you both are in this vid- mike with his learning and Dorian with his teaching
Do legs with tom platz 😂
Sheddy Yoe Di Do chest and biceps with arnold 😀
Do deadlift with Ronnie
rip lol
Yeah go on... I dare you lol
Arms with Lee!
That is freaking epic Mike. Mr Dorian Yates is easily my favorite bodybuilder of all time. The guy is blood and guts all the way and humble so it seems to boot! Legend
not watched yet but this is a dream! fave bodybuilder - don't aspire to look like him but love his mentality and his no bullshit approach
having watched. thoroughly disliked the editing. appropriate for a workout edit but i want to be hearing dorian's tips not some rubbish song and slo mos
William Bore it is balanced between old school dorian speech and cinematic new school editing
I have to disagree I liked the editing. Never been to this channel before so I'm not used to the old style. As far as I'm concerned, as long as Dorian's advice isn't edited over, it's great
William Bore Yes, his mentality can be applied to natties because it's not about throwing huge weight around. Anyone can go to failure.
qualityguy thanks for answering a question nobody asked...
Great video Mike!!! Probably one my favourite ones. Super insightful and reminding us things we all know but sometimes don't tend to apply.
I've learned so much about form and muscle isolation/activation from this video alone, keep it up
What a dream to train with this legend and hats off for the workout in the description.
Holy smokes, i like ur yt channel. Dorian is my favourite bodybuilder. As soon as i saw tittle i was so happy. Damn u got opportunity to be with one of the greatest of all time. In my book he has best back development in history of bodybuilding. Dorian is such a nice guy. Im glad u trained with him. U deserved it. Keep up good videos m8. ✌
One of the greatest backs in the sport.. I remember reading old muscle fitness mags back in the day about Dorian Yates. Awesome vid and much respect to you and your channel!
Really good. Dorian is a legend and deserves to be more celebrated. Such an intelligent trainer too.
Awesome! Thx Mike and Dorian! Watching this is like having a training session from the superman master coach. And for free! I'll be watching this in my gym for inspiration and motivation on back day.
- one request- mike pls have ur camera person do "full" shots so we can all see the form and technique from start to finish of a rep. These close ups don't allow us to really see exactly how all the movements are done. And when DY says ur form "is good," we want to see fully what he's talking about. That would really make this a perfect training video. Thanks from LA!
brilliant bit of coaching from Mr. Yates - thanks for posting this video!
This is my fave video of all time. The more I watch this the more I learn about my own training and areas to improve. Thank you for this
By far the best Olympian. Absolutely amazing mindset and drive.
Dorian Yates i watch his video on internet everytime before my training good video Mike
Great knowledge from Yates, all people starting working out should watch this. Thanks for uploading
Great surprise to see Yates with you! I suffered through the background music just because I am so into weights and Yates.
The best coach you can have, lucky Mike!
What an absolute genius. Must have been an absolute honor to train with such a legend.
Thank you for sharing this experience in holding space in wanting to learn and grow! It's inspiring and it teaches us a humble lesson that we could always learn more 🙌🏼 Thank you Mike!
Special thanks to you guys. I really enjoyed this whole video and will try this workout. It looks intense and great. Thank you again for showing us the workouts with the right forms.
I paid to do a chest session with Dorian. One of my favourite experiences in bodybuilding. What a legend
"Now you know where the lats are right?" Yup haha
Excellent video Mike massive fan of Dorian Yates! Thanks for filming your experience with him 👍👍
I think last time we Skyped you said we were speaking the day after you did this workout. I can see what you were saying about needing only one set at 100% to utterly fry your nervous system. Looked great! Also: THE PRODUCTION VALUE IS AWESOME. Whoever your videographer is, major props to him/her, and the same to your editor/producer. Top notch. Thanks for sharing!
that awkward moment when someone teaches you a thing that you have teached to others for years lol
great video style Mike.Keep going on
Someone... or 6x Mr Olympia 🤔
@@WALTONCHIEF stills the same infos
@@djalilgsf6845 so why isnt he a 6x mr Olympia?
@@WALTONCHIEF because simply he didn't choose to enter to compition world and do steriods
Djalile GF LOL you think mike is natty???
DY is an incredible teacher. so wise.
Dude
Great video, you are a inspiration and have really good content & information.
👍🏼👍🏼
You make me just want to try harder.
Thanks
Awesome video bro! I loved it. Intense training session with that approach in the concentric and eccentric phases of the movements in every exercise, so muscles can benefit from that overload, it’s a must in my opinion. And finally, training under the eyes of a legend like Dorian Yates, that’s beyond words to be described. Keep up the great job u r doing 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is the video that got me training again and I can see why. I’m in the best shape of my life at 39 and no question you two men are big motivational forces. Cheers
this was awesome! learnt a lot
Training with Dorian himself must have been unreal to begin with (one of my dreams) NICE WORK💪💪💪
Top Video Mike 👌😀👍
Always covering everything in detail! 💪😃
Such an honor to be trained by this man
The old Nautilus Pullover is still the best upper back machine around: 3:25 I did my first way back in 1979 with Mike Mentzer.
Don R. Mueller, Ph.D. Doubt any commercial gym has that, my gym doesn't even have a fucking rack for rack pulls
I wish someone would recreate it, it's impossible to find!
The vuy I train with has nautilus machines including the pull over. He ought them from a by closing down cant replicate that pullover any other way
Shoot if the kettlebell made a comeback then why not the Nautilus Pullover!
Damn! The Shadow himself! Yates is one of the favorites for motivation. True inspiration!
Mike, You have a BRILLIANT idea of keeping your videos FRESH and MOTIVATIONAL. Legends like Dorian and newer bodybuilders like Terry will keep the interest of your followers and also keep you fresh as well. I think the next step is practicing your interview techniques and include conversations with some of the pros. In the meantime it becomes a win win experience for you to grow professionally as well as perfecting your own body building goals! Brilliant progress in You Tube life! Keep it up and thanks, Hal
"Now you know where the lats are, right?" (~3:48)
Priceless!
The shadow Dorian Yates...
What a legend!
Lucky man, amazing camera editing, and that key ingredient; HARD WORK
Just crushed this workout with my bro! Makes a huge difference having someone train with you to push that intensity!
Mike , you have inspired me again!!!! I am going to try a Dorian Yates back workout today!
Is Your name really Yates, like Dorian Yates?
@@officialambition its more like Ron Yates
Awsome workout Mike! your so damn humble, but i guess most people would be in the presence of Dorian.
Synokz He is..like they say, no matter your knowledge, there's someone who always knows more. Dorian, 6 X Mr O... what an experience for Mike!
this is the best video i have seen ,damn my two heroes in one video, grind hard man
You showed great maturity by listening. Showing respect to a legend. High class Mike
Can we have more videos like these please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first time of hearing of this bodybuilder and I'm already a fan he just has that vibe! Like if you want more of this!!
Great session, Thanks Mike I really enjoyed that.. Thank you. Your vids are great keep them coming..
Quality Video again Mike! Proper graft in this session brother!
Love how he says yes/yeah after every sentence haha
dang man, if I could choose one guy to see you train with, I think it would be Dorian Yates
go watch Joe Rogan podcast with Dorian 3 hour interview with him excellent content
Same here
Thanks for posting, I get so much out of this video every time I watch it.
amazing video! great to see how you train with this legend
Wow....I didn't know there was a better coach than you Mike. Great choice to make a video with......two pros.
John Nyu if you don’t know Dorian Yates, well I don’t know what to tel ya :(
Lol I love the faces you make when you're doing the cable rows. Doesn't matter wtf you do when you work out as long as it gets you in the right mindset. I make a lot of noise and probably make stupid faces too when I train but I know I'm working harder than anyone else in the gym.
I smile and hums to the music i'm listening to when i'm training
Graham Van Dyke If you ain't making girly noises, you ain't working hard enough.
What a stunning humble attitude Mike , your videos are really great!!
this is your best upload. I would love to be trained by Dorian. great content. great edit.
I wish we had that old school pullover machine at our gym
horrible music, but intense knowledge
Stephan Reichelt The music does not fit the workout or Yates at all.
Stephan remember You Tube has all these crappy ass Copy Right Laws you have to follow. It sucks.
Not bad any way
This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh yea. The rhythm of the night!!!
@@Somchai007 fuck suck of
looks amazing to be able to train with the champ!! exciting video thanks you for this
One of the best videos...mainly becos there is the order in doing which exercises first and which ones later. Millions of vids on youtube and nobody mentions that sequence- which is bloody important.
3:23...whenever I see this machine, I remember that "let's get nasty" phrase!!
“Let’s get nasty Yates!” His trainer was super intense.
anyone else think the faces he makes on the row machine is hilarious?
AWESOME! Dorian Yates DA MAN!
It was Dorian Yates who taught me to change my routine to what it is today. "Great video".
Thanks for the upload.
I see this was two years ago but still relevant. What a treat to get this and love DY! Shadow
dorian yates is king, he is t he most modest no bullshit mr olympia king that remains humble and continues to work and earn a living by running a no thrills gym and is open to give classes and training the common person
Christmas came early this year
Yeeeeeeaauuuhh
Really enjoy everything dorian does. Top of his game👍
Nothing compares with a trainer standing next to you shouting and yelling at you. It boost up your motivation.
Well done Mike
1. Mike, your my physique role model. I printed a picture of you and put it on my wall. It's not only your work ethic that I appreciate, but your character!
2. The music and editing here was sick AF!!
3. Imma start saying yah after everything thanks to Mr. YATES!!!!😆😆
Misery?
id of prefer to listen to that uk garage music the gym was playing :D
Amogelang More you are gay
Stephen peter cool story bro
Stephen peter you sound like a fat fuck
I feel like I can hear dorians brain saying "who the fooks the pretty boy?"
Great video! There's always things to learn, that's not a bad thing 🤓 And Dorian was an excellent teacher! Interesting to do the deadlifts at the end 🤔 Will keep that in mind. Also loved the music, sayang! 🎶 You should bring more collabs! That's very nice content!
Amazing camera man, love the edits and the camera work
Excellent video and training but very poor choice in background music.
in my opinion doryan is the best trainer in the history
Shows how little you know
agree
Watch some Tom platz training people
dorian yates' training partner was the best. /watch?v=Tny2ioAEiW8
* Dorian
Spot on video Mr Thurston, the point is, always good to have a mentor to accomplish more than you'll ever imagine without.
Great insight, enjoyed the simple breakdown of the moves , def going to take this to the gym. One minor issue, would've been great if there were more distant camera shots than close ups, eg the deadlift and raises to see how the full body should be positioned for technique
3:17 I love the way Dorian smiles :)
He helped him to make some mo gainzzzzz
Can I get a amen?!
With Immense knowledge Mike has, he still remains so humble like a student so eager to learn .
A lots of guys need to learn this humility from Mike ( ur inspiration in manners apart from workout )
And yet another great video from Mike 🙏🏽
Everytime I watch someone work out with Dorian Yates it appears as though he's trying to make them puke 😂🤣. Legend
Oh he is defiantly trying to make them puke. The Chris Cormier one was Halarious.
6:22 those zombie eyes xD
Cameraman be like, oh shit I need to film from the side (for people not to see his eyes)
@@awakeening863 Thanks for the clarification mate...
