The best advice Dorian gave in one of his books, I forgot which one, was to pull with your elbows not your hands..Dorian said, think of elbowing somebody when training back..The best advice ever.
Hahaha best line ever
Same thing with bench, instead of pushing with ur hands. Imagine pushing with ur elbows and bringing ur humerus' up and towards ur midline. Changed my whole perspective on benching and targeting pecs
Wow I feel dumb for not doing this until now, tomorrow I'm training back so I'll definitely do it this way
Yep ‘your hands are just hooks’
Still pretty hard to do cause the biceps are such involved. At least for me. Chest and lats are by far the weakest parts of my body
0:22 Dumbbell Pullover
2:32 Close-grip Pulldown
4:00 One-arm Row
5:33 Wide-grip Cable Row
7:29 Barbell Deadlift
Great job! Thanks 🙏🏻!
👊👍✅💪
Thankyou brother

My favourite bodybuilder ever. The man is a legend, a gentleman and a scholar.

Couldn't agree more!
Gentleman? Don't think so

Finally, someone that not only tells you how to do the exercises, but also does the exercises with you. Kudos, sir
Yeh that would be good to see in my gym.. Most PT's just count reps, makes me think the whole thing is a scam job sometimes
@@dwainwilson5080 most of all physical training it's a scam. When i realize that, i chance career
Man, It would be awesome to be trained by Dorian Yates.
He has his own gym in Spain, you can book to be trained by him.

An Englishman and a Welshman, you mean?
You think it's hard to understand Brits right now?
A few years ago while I was in The U.S. Marines I fought alongside some Royal Marines in Afghanistan . To this day I have no idea what the hell they were shouting to me, each other or anyone else. Even the british fucking apache pilots sounding like characters from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Muscle growth is an adaptation to stress. If you give your body stress that it's not used to, it's gonna try to adapt in some way, and in this case, we are looking for more muscles. so you gotaa go beyond what you've done.
The most simple and the best explanation ever.
considering how long he's been out of the game Dorian is still in brilliant shape.
you know that the tape is from 2010?
Harry Hirsch well Dorian’s last Mr Olympia was 1997
@@SeanLives BC he didn't weight trainning
I think he could win another Mr. Olympia if he wanted to. After Jay and Ronnie, the Olympia has felt very mediocre. It’s not “legendary” anymore.
@@blackirontarkus3156 I think Heath was better than most Mr. Os. Certainly in the same conversation as Yates and Coleman. You're right about after him, imo.
Dortian Yates is such a Legend. He's a PT to one of the worlds best PT's
Dorian is the perfect trainer. Knowledge, intensity and motivation. And he has a great demeanor. Much respect for the champ.....
This man is a library of knowledge! Great stuff Mr Yates! 6 time Mr Olympia!
I agree.
Most people dissing bodybuilders, should watch this video. He is in his 50's and he's still got a great body, far above average and works out. For these people, weight training and training in general is a huge part of their life, not an egoist run throught their 20's and 30's.
lol ok
ok i'll see what i can do
wish me luck...
i know i can do it, i'm sure i can do it
but wish me luck anyway
:D
There is something about the quiet, calm, intensity Yates has!! Definitely inspiring 💪🏾🙏🏾
no one will recognize it but I give mad props to the guy he's training with for not being a douche like most people who get to work out with IFBB pros, he followed Dorians advice and most of all, he didn't wear one of those stupid ass stringers to make himself feel better around one of the greats
Kris gethin, big name nowadays. biggest supp brand Kaged muscle. check it out.
his partner here is Chris gethin,he trains peak physique cardiff
I don't wear it myself in gym becaus people shouldn't see my arm pit hair and it's too cold but why do you dislike stringers?
lennert cornette its a show off move. It's the closest thing to being shirtless in the gym without being thrown out
@@PlutoTheGod hahaha, I've always found it weird when they say 'regular t-shirt obstructs my movement' but I've been going to the gym in polyester shirt for years, never had that feeling. Guess it's like all the ladies who train with a sports bra only because 'they have it hot', while outside the gym they always complain about having it too cold.
1. dumbbell pullover
2. close grip pulldown
3. one arm row
4. wide grip cable row
5. barbbell deadlift
Just love dorian's approach to bodybuilding.
Thats a HELL of a back workout, I can't wait to try that today!!!
It's amazing to see how much he's changed over the years brilliant bloke
This man is one of few , who put some brain in game. For all people who are asking is one set is enough for muscle growth - yes it is. especially in complex exercise like deadlifts squat , military press and so on. sometimes we just overtrain our body and put big stres on CNS and we don't have enough rest before we hit the gym again. this approach is excellent size and strength builder ... regards from Belgrade.
I lived in Belgrade for half a year, awesome city!
I agree with ya there Milovan !
Milovan Puric Yeah, but he never trained like this back in the day lol he still trained even though he had a torn tricep.
this is all down to mike Mentzer, once you work the muscle hard to failure in one set there is no need to do another working set as you have already worked the muscle. any more sets after the all out one set leads to over training and ultimately no growth.
Dorian Yates is one of the few bodybuilders who can push to the limit in that one working set. The majority of people could not push to absolute failure like Dorian, that is why they need multiple sets.
Had my greatest back workout EVER last friday!
Thanks Dorian, you the best trainer out there :D
This is the ultimate pre-workout motivation.
Simple and precise... To the point.... Awesome 👍👍🙏
Lotta science behind this workout man! Dorian is the best 💪
Thank you for posting up these vids!!
Look at Ol' Dorian reppin out with 120s on the dumbbell row strict...
Did 90s for 12 today, felt like an animal
Just did this workout (apart from dead-lifts), great feeling! My back feels like it has been worked out today.
DY is a Class Act. I like his vids, they reveal so much true info. I like his info before doing an exercise to prevent injury and get the best out of the exercise being done.
I just turned 41 and i started training seven weeks ago and I've been using Dorians training formula and you can already see the differnce I'm so glad my mate introduced me to Dorian's videos
For (probably) being off gear, Dorian is still huge. All that dense grainy muscle stayed with him, unlike a lot of retired bodybuilders.
only depends if they keep training
Jay cutler kept muscle size. Not all of his original muscle size off-course.
Simon Roy he's still on gear though
Quite sure he is on TRT.
Bok Bok You have to if you’ve taken before. Your body isn’t producing it anymore since you’ve supplemented through the years.
I wish Dorian was my trainer. What a boss!
Omg, I needed this. Dorian yates, you are the best
One of my favorite athlets i like how his teaching and his philosophy
Love Doriens voice. , its calming. A cool dude.
@@therecluse1361 , he won't shout at me, I'm bigger than him. Haa. Take it easy Mustafa.
High intensity, low frequency, and low volume is the perfect formula for ME. It wouldn't have been optimal as a beginner or early intermediate though. Decided for yourself through experimentation how you want to manipulate factors intensity, volume, and frequency.
This is a phenomenal series. Great music, editing and effects. Not to mention that Dorian is great.
Dorian is my favourite I read his book all the time he’s so inspirational
I like how back in his prime he incorporated a lot of Mentzers principles to packing on beef. The compounds are the ones that matter most.
d.y. the only Guy who deserves to wear a master trainer shirt.unlike most of the clown trainers at gyms

@@harryhirsch8527 Exactly. Zzzzzz
Great workout, Thanks Dorian.
Thats a good look bro!!.. This series is bang on.. Clear and understandable.. Got a stone and a half myself thru this..
I like to alternate this with a Serge Nubret type program. It doesn't let the muscles adapt and my joints need to recover from going heavier.
dorian's form is spot on - he's the man
My Hat is Off to You, Mr. Yates!! I actually went to failure on my quads extension according to your instructions on weight training and in 2 or 3 days I can feel the power come back in great definition and isolation of each quad. I later tried this with hammer curls on the preacher bench, alternating to Brazilian grip on same at the extremity of resistance. The difference is beginning to reach the threshold of sensation for me. I'm 8 months into year 4 and the metamorphosis is slowly beginning to show, even though my work out numbers logs have showed somewhat linear increases through the period. Yet I also employ some mind over matter methods.
This entire workout is fantastic; especially his chest and biceps day. You get such a great pump. Training to failure is definitely the best way to go.
when dorian does a back workout everyone listens
I enjoy the seated wide grip cable row sets with a small variation. It is an excellent exercise to develop a strong upper and lower back and (imho) also the abdomen, while working the anterior deltoids and the biceps. Good all around upper body work. When I lower the weights I also extend my shoulders all the way forward before beginning the rearward motion from the skapular muscles (rhomboids, trapezius, teres muscles, etc.) This involves everything from the thoracic dorsal spines all the way around to the arms down the knuckles. The mind body connection traces the lines of pull and action that make this exercise one of the (I think) most important and useful development methods around. I highly recommend Mr. Yates' school.
I really enjoy videos like these. I learn while the guy being instructed learns too.
What a fabulous workout, hitting all angels of the lats and hitting the upper back with strong movements Ima use this for the next 6 weeks
I train in the exact same way Dorian does. He helped perfect that style of training and I wouldn't be anywhere without it. Obviously I don't look like he does know why would I ever want to be that big. But this man knows his stuff and the only pro bodybuilder I truly respect. He was the last of an era that valued training over the latest drug stack.
You can train with all the intensity and desire to get big like him ,but it won't happen, but you need to still do it with that mentality, because even just as a natural that's how it's done and what it takes
Been a fan since 93'. No nonsense BS with a working man's attitude...his temple gym from back in the day speaks for itself. 'Yates Dominates'...enough said
Muito obrigado. Eu aprendo muito com os vídeos, e sou muito fã do Dorian
Awesome workout!!
he looks much healthier than Ronnie Coleman now, After his competitions
Dorian had the best Back Ever!!
That 1min rest instead of 90secs Or 2-3 mins makes all the difference. Quick and smart work out.
Thanks a lot for inviting the legend Dorian Yates
Dorian is my favourite MR.O ! BLOOD AND GUTS !!!
Dorian just couldn't resist himself @ 1:08. No wonder why he had the best back in bodybuilding.
almost after 13 yrs if workout i find this back workout plam more relevant then any one else thnx dorian for this🙏👍👏💪
Dorain Yates the Legend!!! Love his content
There's 4 episodes, so do each workout once a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Do legs on Tuesday, so you can rest Wednesday, and back Friday.
Dorian is the master of the pros. He's one of the few that concentrates on the importance of recovery and especially after the back workout.(You notice the dead-lift here removes the legs in order not to compromise the leg recovery)You see a lot of modern trainers advising (push, pull, leg, off) This is probably okay if you are in your 20s and on the bits and bobs but way to much for a big proportion of lifters. In addition doing chest, shoulders and tris together is insane as fatigue will compromise at least one of those muscle groups. Dorian was the last beacon of sanity in the professional body building champions before it gots ridiculous as we see today.
one of the hardest workouts i ever did it in my life. felt great!
Excelente vídeo! Gracias!
Dorian knows his shit ! He's a fucking machine
when that guy starts running towards me, I'll be screaming "TANK!!!"
great video sir💪👍
When Kai Greene starts running towards you, you must scream "BOOMER" because of the bubble gut
+Scumby Haha, nice one.
The man mixed with mind, muscle, methodes of workout.
absolute gold Dorian Yates
Yates is the man
the song is Nadine stern- you rule me
I no find
Love how he pulls him up on the lat pull downs at the start because he’s leaning back on every rep, see so many guys doing this trying to show off with heavy weight. Actually making slower progress than if they just lower the weight and do better form.
my favorite body part to work on haha... i can definitely use doing some of these workouts
i found his technique more effective cause i used more weight with more intense with no other sets to come and to fatique faster for fibers that i exclude in the previous set
HIT
Not exactly Dorian's classic back regimen. Anyone who's seen the original Blood & Guts knows he used prodominantly unilateral, plate loaded seated rowing machines for isolation (Hammer Strength but almost all gyms have variations) which could have replaced the wide cable row and dumbbell row. He normally included rear delts on his back days but didn't here and shrugs were done on shoulder days but it's not included in this series. Also he practically made the bent over barbell row famous but didn't use it in this video....wonder why he skipped these.
awesome thanks Dorian Yates
Did this yasterday. Best back workout i've had.
pullovers work great on a steep decline bench!
I know this old but, what a great idea. Thank you.
HEAVY DUTY
much respect to mr yates.......still in gr8 shape after all these years!!!!
Love the old school dumbbell workouts.
The guy working out with Dorian Yates, is he Kris Gethin?
Amit Aswal yes
Then again the video is from 2010
Yeah man. He was Hrithik’s Trainer for Krishh 3
Yes, and mind you Chris gethin is his student here lol
Chris gethin is a huge name now days in the bodybuilding world.. Love kaged muscle products!!! His 8 week hardcore trainer is awesome

Here we go. Big Dorian Yates!! 💪❤
Dorian is the only guy I watch ... high intensity 100
Chris Gethin?
Many thanks!
A lot of people confuse the stiff-legged deadlift (back) for the romanian deadlift (hams and glutes). The SLDL has a longer range of motion (don't drop below shins, however) and the RDL has a short range of motion to keep tension on the hamstrings (go down low but do not raise the bar pass upper knee). Both are great exercises but are fundamentally different.
You certainly need a spotter on this type of training. If you work alone it's difficult to follow it.
maybe you can try an extended set/intensity techniques like rest/pause or drop sets
mindset, you dont.need a spotter, if you really want it that should give you the fire to work hard even when youre alone. Dont be so weak minded making excuses, yeah a spotter would be great but at the end of the day youre your own enemy, if you choose to be weak minded youll give up on everything presented in front of you in life you bitch. man up and stop making excuses
Billy The_Kid If you think you can go past failure without a spotter you're a fucking idiot. There's a reason it's called failure you can't physically do anymore without assistance
incorporate some rest-pause and dropsets instead.
You can go past failure without a spotter. Stop spreading misinformation please.

Awesome training. Credit to the trainee.
👍, Dorian#1 trainer. Good stuff 🤘
What a fuckin God, holy shit, a lot of knowledge and barely says anything
Different bodybuilders have different styles dorian yates was high intensity low volume he does two or three sets to warm up and 1 all out failor recorded the weights and beat them the next week or longer with perfect form to say this is the best type of training and high volume is not as affective means u know nothing of bodybuilding u have to do what works for u bad form heavy weight works for branch warren but not most anyone else perfect form low volume worked for dorian but extremely high volume low intensity works for jay cutler to bring a larger pump there is no one size fits all program and to think there is is pointless u can get affectiveness from almost any style but the perfect routine for u is maybe not the same for me dorian yates a monster and a legend in bodybuilding I have absolute respect for him and in his era every bodybuilder like lee haney trained less scientifically an relied less on rest dorians styles have changed modern bodybuilding
Use freaking punctuation marks, no one can understand where you start and stop. -_-
I agree to an extent. I think no bodybuilder or average joe that hits the gym should ever have a standard program because your body will adapt to it. This would be cool to try to change it up for a while. I seriously doubt Dorian did this plan his entire career. This is just something he figured out his body responded well to and used as a staple until his training would stagnate then he would use something else for a little while and come back to it.
