Do we just want to know so badly what this next system is going to be that we'll take the information any way we can get it? It's good to know Kit is a fan of Scott the Woz, as he is probably the most honest and genuine Nintendo CZcamsr out there.
Honestly, if the rumors of Nintendo having this console done since at least late 2022 are true; it is a miracle they were able to keep it so tightly sealed in the first place.
I highly doubt it's been done since 2022 because if it was TotK would have been a perfect launch title for it.

the way Pyoro makes his leaks a guessing game rather than straight up coming out with the info def makes me think he works at Nintendo, and lines up with the "robinhood" type you describe
he seems to get a hold of "leaks" just before videos get uploaded, like he is part of that team.
Man, Pyoro used to be that 'cute tongue bird' from WarioWare... I wonder if Nintendo will ever use the character again lol.
I think the comparison between TOTK and FF7R that Kit&Krysta mentioned resonates a lot with me. The pacing of Rebirth is slowly burning me out. In TOTK you are constantly in the exploration mindset, and dungeons/side quests are still integral parts of the world. In Rebirth it doesn't feel the same, there's a definite cut between the story and the exploration and it's making it harder to shift my mindset from one to another.
Some things about Pyoro. Someone did call them out on what was posted on that account previously. Pyoro claimed that wasn't them and they paid to have that specific account. True or not, who knows?
Another note, like most leakers, people thought they were lucky in knowing what was going to come in that June direct, but you have to prove yourself to be accurate again. Unlike most leakers, Pyoro has proven time and time again to be accurate.
The Contra conversation was fun! It's nice to hear what goes into creating a new entry in a franchise like this.
32 hours and you're at the end is craaaazy to me. I'm 54 hours and only 52% through the game. I love this world and these characters so doing the side quests and exploration isn't an obligation to me. The protorelic quests are great, learning about the summons and the history of the world, connecting with party members in small meaningful ways. FF7 OG was so cool for having such a crazy amount of minigames so them really leaning into that here makes the game feel like honestly the biggest game I've ever played for meaningful and not wasteful reasons.
I hope you guys go back one day, I do understand having to finish it for the spoilercast, but this world is so rich.
I think with all games they play they kinda speedrun it. i haven't played the new one yet, but checked my hours on the original on steam and it's 78 hours. This one seems like it'll be quite longer if you take your time to actually enjoy it
A bit of insight from someonw who was part of the NX / Switch leaks cycle back in the day (I used to publish at Let's Play Video Games, we leaked the existance of the capture button, some info on Mario and Rabbids being composed by Kirkhope, Dark Souls Switch release date etc), I think there's something you've maybe missed about why this Switch 2 leak cycle is likely to be a little different to the OG Switch.
I am a big believer that Bloomberg's report about a Switch Pro being in production ultimately not panning out really massively impacted desire for Switch 2 leaks, and very much created a "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality from a lot of people eager for info.
For context, I fully believe that the Switch OLED was at one point meant to be a New 3DS style mid cycle refresh. I believe Bloomberg's report was accurate, but that plans changed due to something like first year Covid component shortages. Things like the Switch OLED dock upgrading to a more high caapacity HDMI standard, for example, are holdovers of that forced change of direction.
But the point is, when an outlet like Bloomberg puts their stellar reputation on the line saying a more powerful Switch is coming, mentions 4K outputt, then the announcement arrives and it's just a nicer screen, a lot of folks online started to feel like no leaker, no matter how prominent, could be trusted to definately be accurate, even as a large outlet.
Then, going from that into Switch 2 speculation less than 2 years later, a lot of folks went "I feel like these two rumour cycles for more powerful hardware are essentially the same cycle", and end up feeling like they're now nearly four years deep into speculation about a more powerful Switch, and are simply burning out a little. This was compounded by the Switch Pro and Switch 2 rumours being so similar e.g. very similar form factor, upscaled resolution output".
Switch rumours were born and died within 12-18 months. Switch Pro and Switch 2 rumours combined are now on nearly four years.
And to the point of Krysta saying it feels in some ways "mean" for Nintendo to hide that new hardware so that people buy the old machine rather than wait for the new, this was honestly the reasoning I had back when I used to be in the leaking space for sharing info a lot of the time. It was how I justified reviewing the PS4 Slim before it was officially announced. My reasoning for beter or worse was very much "If I talk about tthis new hardware revision, even if PlayStation isn't ready to reveal it, I might help a few consumers avoid buying the old model right before a new one comes to replace it".
Whether that was the right call by me people can disagree on, but it's definately something I can say with confidence is often a part of the leaker rationalle.
Leaks are fun in retrospect when someone announces features that were cut but for the most part leaks are lame let things announce when they’re announced
I'm also just entering the 3rd region with 30 hours of playtime. So far I really like pretty much everything about the game, except one or two mini games. I normally would want to get the pacing a little on the faster side, but this game's world is soooo good looking with an amazing music in parts that I really wanna take my time with it. It's been a while since I've played a game that I wanted to take my time with as much as this one.
I imagine if Pyoro ever really significantly fumbles, it means they've fed him bait and the gig is up.

Regarding Leaks, I personally do not like them and they have often ruined some other wise fantastic presentations.
Always a pleasure to hear about both your memories and experiences in the gaming industry. Glad the podcast came just as PAX East began. Pyoro on the other hand, it's only a matter of time before Pyoro gets compromised for Nintendo leaks. I agree with Krysta with the interest of Princess Peach Showtime. The demo is alright, but not worth getting on day one.

Isn't the most likely timeline now just replicating Switch 1's roadmap? Announce in October reveal trailer, major conference in January showing off the games, and release in March.
I used to complete the og Contra on nes without dying once.. only had Contra and double dragon at that time
I LOVED contra 4 as a kid. It basically had all the best contra games as unlockable in it and it was such a hard game to beat as a 12 year old haha!
A lot of retro games can be hard to get new people into, just because of how hard they were, so I really appreciate ports and remakes that add difficulty options in. Really cool that they made a point of including this stuff in Contra.

I think the form factor of the new system will be based on the Switch however I think it will have a very significant, very innovative new aspect that has to do with flexibility of the size of the handheld device.

I just finished Rebirth at the 100 hour mark, 100%. Plenty more stuff to do on hard mode, though! The ending completely lost me, but I never got burnt out at all. Amazing game.

My issue with Pyoro is that leaks and rumors are fun because it’s a guessing game.
Once leaks are 100% right, all that’s left is a spoiler. And I HATEEEE spoilers.
Not to mention Pyoro does this for attention. Only for attention. There’s literally no other reason.

I'm guessing Nintendo knows who Pyoro is and is simply waiting to drop that C&D hammer. Or Pyoro works at Nintendo and all of this stuff is controlled, because there seems to be a copycat on Sony's side growing in stature. I'd expect Pyoro to be gone before Switch 2 is revealed, one way or another.

I think they are trying to extract as much revenue out of the switch but I also think that the release of the next system has to happen sometime this year with an announcement coming in the summer at the latest.

As for other Leakers, I like to follow NateTheHate even though he is not always correct. He probably doesn't have too close sources to Nintendo, though at least he gets Direct Dates most of the times correct a few weeks in advance (Even those who where not so easy to predict, like when we got a Mini Partner Direct in 2022 late Summer). Though otherwise he is well informed about Nintendo and it is interesting to follow his speculation.
For Pyoro, I think they either are an employee somewhere at Nintendo or are at least very close to one (as in related to an Nintendo employee as close friend or family). It could even be that they are getting information even earlier than they are talking about, because then they would know when more people are supposed to know about certain things (Like all of PR, Social Media, Web-Content Manager etc.). At this stage it would make it really hard for Nintendo to figure out who it is.
Anyway, they are very likely leaking first-hand information, while the others are mostly speculating on rumors they heard.

Nintendo really has no games coming for the Switch this year aside from a couple of ports that are coming soon. If this doesn’t scream new console I don’t know what does.

Nintendo sure has gotten a lot of mileage out of the Switch joycon snapping in sound. If the rumored "Attach" name is true, I figure a dock and portable modes aren't they only things they have in mind, like VR or dual screen handheld gaming via the dock or other 'attach'-ment. A true next level Switch. :)
Nintendo may be trying to keep it under a tight lid so competitors will not 1 up a feature they have like Sony having dual analog sticks for the ps1 and the n64 had one.
This is my 4D chess take on this - this is entirely about getting the Switch past DS and PS2 in total sales. Even the delay - it's all about the prestige of the Switch! Probably not, but I'm gonna bang this drum until they announce it.

I think leaks are just annoying anymore. None of them are believable, so many people make fakes ones just for clout, or to mess with people. I could not care less about leaks. Until something has been announced BY THE COMPANY it isn’t official.
You really need to beat Crisis Core to properly understand the 7 Remake storyline.
Really, it's not a matter of if a leak will happen, but rather if a leak will catch on. People forget that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's "EVERYONE IS HERE!" was actually "leaked", but it was a simple text post the morning of E3 which wasn't compelling or interesting enough to look back on until the announcement was already officially revealed. There are so many people on the internet that the Switch 2 and its info could probably be correctly guessed by someone out of sheer luck, but the only leaks that really get talked about are the ones that "catch on"; the ones that have some intrigue or allure to them enough to get people thinking about them. They present just enough evidence to create a discussion as to whether or not they're true.
Additionally, though this is probably a minor factor, I wonder if Nintendo may be slightly anxious about the next Switch console based on the less than astronomical sales of Tears of the Kingdom. Of course, these are apples and oranges, and I'm basically comparing them based on the fact they both have stems, but the fact that ToTK was (this is not an insult) a further evolution of BoTW instead of something completely new may be making Nintendo a little paranoid, given how probable it is that the next console will be very much the same way; an "evolution" rather than a "revolution". Then again, the PS2 was a direct "evolution" of the PS1 and is the best selling system in history. You could analyze these things endlessly.

I'll never understand why a leaker who has been wrong is well respected and no, I'm not talking about the bird leaker.
Honestly, people just need to go offline and touch grass already. The system is going to come out when it's going to come out and they're going to announce it half a year in advance at most, which, btw, is standard practice and not just a Nintendo thing. No console manufacturer will publically acknowledge the existence of new hardware before the official announcement, why would they.

1:48:48 : I'm sorry but that Switch succesor talk speculation back then was never accurate. Anything not confirmed by Nintendo themselves is all fluff and Switch successor was never suppose to release this year. It just never made sense. Yes we are getting a lot of ports and remasters of games but that's the thing, we're still getting games. Nintendo had to move on to Switch from Wii U because it had no games. Sony is releasing an upgraded console this year because it has no games. Nintendo doesn't need to release a new system this year because it still has games. I guarantee you come June 30th 2023, we will know Nintendo's release calendar for the rest of the year including a big holiday title like Metroid Prime 4.

Some leaks and rumors are good for Nintendo, and any other company. They build a hype train around the company and their products, constantly keeping them in the people's minds, making the anticipation bigger. I remember how hyped I was around the Switch's reveal. Every bit of information was a huge energy boost and, even though I knew some of them where wrong, I was hyped because they allowed me to imagine all the wild possibilities. The problem occurs when they fail to meet expectations, like TOTK for example.
How did TotK fail to meet expectations
@@Krakenjackz Mainly cause of the sky islands. Nintendo was advertising them as the new big addition to the map and the footage they used was from deleted islands or, primerlely, the Great Sky Island. The only cohesive island you can actually explore, with snowy environment (except that one rock above Wisdom Spring), and caves. Sky Islands purpose is the tutorial and linear traversal puzzles. Not exploration. Also, there are so few of them cause of the ending sequence (if you know, you know) and also Nintendo deleted like half of them late in the development because they where too many and starting to get messy.
So, the lack of the promised expanded and explorable Sky Islands, the emptiness of the surprised Depths, the lack of presence of the promised Zonai people and Zonai culture and the, once again, detached-from-gameplay Story (although is super cool) are the reasons TotK failed to meet expectations. At least from what I have seen from theorists, rundom videos, the community (on comments and posts) and personal opinions backed by the "freezed" sales.
I love the game now for what it is, but I was disappointed from what I wished/dreamed it could be. And apparently a lot of people. I hope that makes sense.

@jasonzervos I mean I guess I can see that, a lot of the sky islands weren't anything worth while. I wouldn't say the game overall didn't meet expectations though just because of that, the game had so much more added to it that blew a ton of people's minds. I wish they did more with the sky islands and did the depths differently though.

I don't get the "ruin" part about Switch 2... if you want the hype surrounding of Nintendo revealing it for the first time, I get it... but it's just a piece of plastic and silicon and metal... we wanna know how powerful it is, what features, what potential it has... it's been long enough where I am like... just give me the dang thing already... don't care who gives it first... I would ideally prefer Nintendo do it themselves but they just keep dragging their feet.

There's already been plenty of leaks. I don't see why it matters who reveals it.
This is easily my favorite podcast but the white brick wall on the left kills the cozy vibe and makes the podcast feel like a prison. You are both phenomenal podcast hosts at least. The red brick wall works for the reviews/streams but the white brick wall on the left here really kills the vibe
The Metaquest is already widely adopted and has solved many issues. Sony and MS should focus on licensing games to Meta. Nintendo will probably be left behind in the VR world.
I'm getting a PS5 Pro because I never bought a PS5, so for me, it's going to be a bigger leap from using the PS4 Pro since March 2017. I'm also a musician, like Beyoncé, in my spare time. So I suppose musicians can also play video games. I would also recommend Tomb Raider I-III Remastered if you are looking for some new games to play on Nintendo Switch.

Another side note; Nintendo needs to announce this thing soon; because I am tired of debating whether or not I should spend ANY MONEY on Switch peripherals that MAY OR MAY NOT BE compatible with the next gen Switch. Things like the Nitro Deck, Switch Cases, ect, which keep getting released every week. Also; Nintendo 100% NEEDS to release a slim case for this next gen Switch; which is like the Switch Lite Case they made. I hate having to sift through hundreds of cases and settle on one I really don't like (but is better than nothing) only to have a case that I really want; come out at the end of the model's life cycle. A third party company only recently made a similar case for the Switch OLED (like the Lite case) that is what I wanted, but I'm only getting it now at the end of the life cycle. So Nintendo HAVE Slim cases available at launch, so I can take this thing with me on the go and play comfortably without worry.
I'm glad we live in the era we do-Nintendo's "love it in the way we want you to love it" is paternalistic and anti-consumer, and them not being able to stop leaks is a good thing in my opinion.

I think Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa is terrified of messing with the Switch's success. If you think about it changing consoles is ridiculous, especially when the previous version is so successful. There's an install base of tens of millions of users and companies ask us to buy the new thing and it can go either way. Maybe it'll be accepted and maybe it won't, but either way there's no going back.
It seems like Kit is a government official. Thankfully, he is wearing a Mario hoodie, so I know this is not the case.
I definitely disagree about FF7 Rebirth. My jaw dropped when you guys said you’re only about 30 hours in, based off how far you are into the game. The only people I’ve heard complain about the pacing, are the ones who are mainlining the game. That’s where things like minigames and other gameplay segments feel more forced, when you’re trying to play this like Remake. This isn’t a straight-up action game. This RPG incentivizes you to explore the world, and when you’re mostly ignoring exploration, the further you get into the game, the pacing is definitely going to feel off.

@@dion03suls Yeah, I was at about 130 hours when I finished it, not counting post-game content or hard mode. Most people I’ve seen play it, put over 100 hours into it. Even the ones I’ve seen mostly mainline it, have like 60-70 hours at least. They’re going to be in the 40s when they beat it, at the rate they’re going, which is crazy lol. They’re definitely the lowest hour count I’ve seen by far.
