I'm with Krysta, though Mario Strikers Battle League is not bad, but the fact that got tuned down, and Nintendo has been practicing the "free updates" exercise, got, not only Mario Strikers but all the other sports games, a bad perception, which i can understand, but if you have passed that, all the Mario Sports games have actually been great, however, the fact that all of them needed more development time and more custom play modes, is really notorious. But, i would love to see Mario Strikers going back to its roots, and maybe not just Strikers but all the other sports games, sometimes you don't need to keep innovating at all, just to make the game better, but, hold onto the basics. Just stay with the amount of characters that you have right now, maybe add a little few more, but, keep the game as basic as it was the first or second time. If we someday get the NGC Virtual Console, perhaps not on Switch but the next console, i'd love to see Super Mario Strikers again, after all, it's my favorite game ever. Finally, and within the Mario Sports games topic, again, not in the Switch anymore, but the next console, though i know it'll be very unlikely to happen, as i said, i'd love to see all Mario Sports games going back to the roots, kinda as in, reboots, and keeping it simple, simple enough to get them all titled Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Strikers, etc..., in order to giving us to understand that they're reboots

I really do miss StreetPass and “DS” Download. I understand a feature like DS Download may be less feasible considering the size of game environments now. Also, the JoyCons should each have an additional button on the rail, so the JoyCon with the Home button has a screenshot button on the center of rail and the the JoyCon with the Screenshot Button has a Home Button on the rail. That way a single JoyCon use case allows a user to go Home and take a Screenshot

I never understood the “equal weight across all three modes of play” thing as a justification for removing some of the 3DS’ social features.
If you’re leaving the Switch at home in its dock, you’re not able to interact with it anyhow. The “weight” that docked play has over handheld is general comfort, but at the drawback of portability, which isn’t really a drawback since you can just take it out of the dock, whereas you CAN’T always just dock your Switch wherever you are.
In my opinion, they should be maximizing the incentive to have your Switch on hand as much as possible. You’re thinking about it more, you’ll likely spend more money on things like accessories and games, people in public might see it and be interested in buying one, etc. It becomes a statement in a weird way.
If anything, it should be a push to give docked mode another unique feature to make it even.

As for future-proofing consoles for third-party content, I don't think there's much a console manufacturer can do. They are already selling these things for $350-500, so the hardware is pretty minimalistic as it is. Even the Series X, despite being released only three years ago, is already six years behind in graphics technology, and they are forced to limit games to 30fps (Starfield or Redfall). Even the remastered version of The Last of Us 2 can't run the "fidelity mode" in 60 fps on PS5. Why do I have to choose at all when you designed the game for this hardware, and you're running on more powerful hardware compared to the PS4 it was originally released on? That is quite telling of how underpowered these next-gen consoles are, even if they are way more powerful than the current Switch. Ideally, you'd want everything running at 60 fps honestly, even turn-based games.
Truthfully, 30 fps is not even a standard anymore, and I realize console owners might have a hard time grasping this because it's what they've known since the 360/PS3 era. 30 fps is literally the bare minimum frame rate required for people to comfortably play a video game. Any lower than 30 fps is a technical malfunction or design flaw - it's too choppy and starts to really affect how you play the game. However, it's incredibly common for consoles these days to have games drop below 30 fps too, which in my opinion, is very telling that the console hardware isn't cutting it in most cases as this should be unacceptable. So if the PS5 and Series X can't even enforce 60 fps adoption with their hardware, I don't expect Nintendo's Switch 2 to be able to future-proof itself either, especially since it's at an even cheaper price point.
The reality is, console hardware is not that powerful - you get what you pay for. You need to spend $2000 if you expect to game on the same hardware for 7-9 years and still reach 60fps caps. For example, if you bought a GTX 1080 in 2016, you can still run pretty much everything at 1080p (or sometimes in 1440p) in 2024 fairly well. A GTX 1080 is only ~20 percent weaker than a PS5 or Series X is today, but you might get better performance due to more RAM anyway. So yes, you need to spend $2000 to "future-proof" your gaming experience. If you buy an RTX 4080 today, you probably won't feel the pinch to upgrade until the 7080 or 8080, which is 9-12 years away. Consoles are lucky to get 3 years of reasonable performance by comparison. You get what you pay for.
Both Sony and Xbox have had to refresh their consoles three to four years into the generation, and they still had games performing poorly in the last few years of the generation. For example, Assassin's Creed Origins and others ran poorly on PS4 Pro. So did Final Fantasy 15. While Cyberpunk was very unoptimized at launch, it still doesn't run well on the console it was apparently "designed for" after so many patches - you may as well play it on PS5, Xbox Series, or PC. I distinctly remember buying a PS4 Pro in 2016, and 3rd party games were already running like crap on it in 2017. There is no such thing as "console future-proofing." It was a waste of money, and I went to PC this generation to avoid repeating the same mistake.
I have no idea why console generations are around 7 years. Three to four years is much more reasonable. The tail end of console generations is probably the worst period for the console when it comes to third-party content. The most impressive time is the first two years of the generation when you can see how much better your cross-gen games run. That's the golden age for consoles. Everything is downhill after that.
I think consoles can get by longer than 3-4 years for 1st party content, mostly because the developers/publisher can live within their means and develop for the console specifically rather than chase the latest graphics technology. But there is no such restriction for 3rd party content - they will continue to push graphics and performance requirements every single year, which has universally left the consoles in the dust time and again.

I wish Nintendo could have the Switch 2 have the capability of downloading the patches/updates of games onto the physical cart itself

I've been saying for years that I want a Nin-to-do list to counter Trophies/Achievements. I sometimes find myself lacking motivation to continue playing a Nintendo game whereas with Playstation I keep going to get the Trophies.

The Super Nintendo Switch would look so nice on a console box but it would not scream new console so it will be interesting to see if we finally move to a number indicator for a console or not. This will be an iteration so switch most likely will be in the name as the form factor is not drastically changing.

I'm massively physical over digital but if the choice is pure digital or physical with a download, then I'd go all digital, there's no point going physical if you require a download anyway.

Love the shout out to the amazing John Riggs. Switch 2: 4k in tv mode is nonnegotiable. I'm also completely over physical games. My switch might as well be glued to it's dock, so quite whatever on joycons as long as I get a great pro controller options

I am happy not to have trophies on Switch. It’s a relief sometimes that I can get a game on Switch and just play it for fun without feeling like I have to aim for trophies, which I absolutely do when I play on my PS4.

Considering that Nintendo has been sticking with their blue ocean strategy ever since the Wii, we might get something entirely different from a Switch. ESPECIALLY since there is now heavy competition moving in on the handheld console market with the Steam Deck, ROG Ally etc. I really can't see them targeting exactly the same market that the Switch did, it's not like them to do.

It'll be a new dock console that's compatible with the Switch. So there's still a market for both, they won't phase out the current Switch.

Okay. After watching the challenge, some of the game audio sounded off. Not de synced, but just wrong (particularly Megaman 2). Hearing it was a Retron 5, that sort of explains it. Still, it was a great video either way.

Out of curiosity, why does everyone keep calling it the “Switch 2”. Is it confirmed to just be a continuation of the switch system? I don’t recall people ever calling the Nintendo Switch the “Wii U 2” leading up to its release.

    • @QBnoYouko
      @QBnoYouko Před 4 měsíci

The codename for the Switch was NX, so everyone called it the NX up until the official announcement of the Switch. There is currently no known codename for the Switch's successor, so no one knows what to call it and default to "Switch 2" as a shorthand name. Why Switch 2? Probably because the Switch has been incredibly successful, so sticking with the Switch name in some way makes sense.

UI customisation and organisation is far more in demand and "needed" than you both think.
In many ways it IS just about tickling an OCD... but why is that bad and why should you not satisfy it?
I guess my gripe is... why be apposed?
