Without Dana White, MMA wouldn’t exist. Nobody would care about it, nobody would have the guts to try to start an mma organization. He fought for mma and it’s fighters while facing a decade of bankruptcy. People talk about “he just cares about money”, he was literally digging out of bankruptcy for the first 10 years of UFC. Now that he’s rich, people are mad it’s ridiculous he deserves his wealth
I disagree that it wouldn't exist. It just would've taken MUCH longer to be adopted and definitely wouldn't be the globally loved sport it is today. He definitely deserves credit for his effort

Dana had the vision for what to do with it and where to take it - that's why the Fertitta's lucked out by putting their capital behind Dana and letting him drive it. It goes both ways. Venture capital fails every single day. Not many 1-2 million dollar investments out there become multi-billion dollar returns. But, I'm sure you knew that already...

Great content. I'm not such a big fan of Dana White, but it is very cool to see his change along those years. I remember when i used to watch his pre-fight, and post-fight scrums on CZcams on the old Zuffa days. It was such an original and down to earth way of promoting, that the fans felt like part of something. The president of the company seemed really close to what the fans wanted to see. Over the years the UFC turned into something more and more professional... And Dana White became something different. Not worse, just a different character. I think that is better to follow the sport now more than ever. So many content on demand and so many content on social media... It's actually better now. But Dana itself is just a more president like type of person. Just a guy running his business. Doesn't look like a fan anymore.

You couldn’t be any further from the truth because Dana is a fucking HUGE fan of fighting. You can’t do the job he does without being a huge fan. He’s spoken about it many times on podcasts and you can see how passionate he is about fighting. You did cover your hate for Dana well, though.

I love Dana. Every time I’ve ever met him he’s been nothing but kind to me and my wife. He’s built a fantastic organization with UFC but he’s far from perfect. Fighters are underpaid outside of the top three percent. Things can be done to improve but man without Dana MMA would be non existent

Great work Lionel I really liked your documentary. Really good job on digging up all these archive footages. One comment that I would make is about your editing style. There are no low points in your documentary. It always feels like that it’s hyping up something going up and up and building tension, but there are no resolution or no breathing room to process what we just watching. it sort of feels like a very long trailer for your documentary. I think you can relax a bit give some breathing room leaving longer cuts, but otherwise, the narration and the storytelling is pretty good!

This is such a good documentary. It brings me back to middle school and high school. I watched all of this go down. I remember wishing it would be as big as the likes of the nfl and nba. Everyone thinks it was a monopoly. But it was always about Dana acquiring the very best fighters. Dana is very under appreciated
I agree. He was a savage but that was by necessity. They had to learn as they went. I like his approach to media he doesn't mess around. I watched the whole first TUF as it aired was crazy to watch. I get it wasn't his money, but he was the face, but people forget that when they sold the ufc, one of the main things was they wanted Dana to be running it still.

Im so greatful for Dana white without him I wouldn't of even heard of an mma fight. Now thats what i want to do with my life, he gave me my dream and i am forever greatful. The thing about fighting is I don't care if i don't get paid the most ever, as long as i can get by and be happy; nothing is like fighting. for those who love it there is nothing that can compare. I wouldn't get paid 3 times more and sit in a office and wonder what im doing with my life. For me fighting is my porpose and nothing can replace it.

A long time ago when i was a foreman for a trade doing construction, i told an apprentice that " if people arent writing shit about you and talking crap in the porta- potties about you, you' re not doing your job ." To get a job done sometimes you have to be an asshole to your own guys, other trades, the contractor, or you'd get run the f over by them. You can't make every one happy or be friends with everyone, especially when youre trying to get a job done. Its not personal, its about perspective from where on the ladder youre at. At the bottom you see you and the further up you go the more you see the bigger picture, the people under you, and the responsibility of the group being viable rather than just yourself. I see alot of critizisms about Dana and not enough praise for the amount of people and their families he keeps fed. There's alot of hard decisions at the top, they dont always make you popular, and it takes a certain mentality to be there and make those decisions. You get no credit for the good things and always highlight the controversial. Without Dana who knows if anyone has a career in MMA, and whether yoy like his decisions or not, hes taking care of akot of families. Im not saying theres not room for improvement, but, i wouldnt want anyone else looking out for my career in mma's direction. Thank you Dana for turning MMA into the global sports icon it has become, i really dont think anyone else could have done it.

Its going to take ALOT for me to lose my appreciation for dana. He’s a trooper and has dealt with it all
I 100% agree with Dana because all other sports are paying their athletes WAY too much. The fighters aren’t complaining because Dana takes care of them behind closed doors. Think about it the NFL is paying their crème de la crème athletes $250 million plus signing bonuses and perks and that’s ridiculous because now it changes the rules of the game. Take a look at how the NFL played in the 1980’s compared to today. It sissified the game. Now you can’t hit the QB hard because you’ll get a penalty or fined and that sucks because I believe in the near future the NFL will soon be flag football so yea let Dana be Dana and watch him go. Dana brought joy and happiness to so many and created tens of thousands of jobs. I say God bless him forever. Ty
