Joe Rogan is one of the most influential men in popular culture as a well-known comedian, beloved commentator, and famous podcaster of the Joe Rogan Experience. As a martial arts enthusiast, Joe was fascinated with martial arts and became involved with the UFC, becoming a backstage interviewer. His love for the UFC grew as he became a commentator, friend to Dana white, and interviewed some of the UFC’s greatest champions and stars, including Georges St-Pierre, Kamaru Usman, Jon Jones, Dana White Himself, Demetrious Johnson, Henry Cejudo, Alexander Volkanovski, Israel Adesanya, and Francis Ngannou. Joe Rogan has long advocated for practicing martial arts and jiu jitsu for self defense and this, alongside his commentary job and enthusiasm for UFC events has converted his millions of podcast listeners and fans into die-hard fans of mixed martial arts and the UFC. In this Joe Rogan Documentary, I explore Joe Rogan’s impact on the UFC and how he dramatically expanded the UFC’s fanbase more than we know.

I used to joke with my buddies that Rogan only made it through the D's in the dictionary, because of how often he used 'dominating,' 'devastating,' and 'dangerous,' while commentating. We even made up a drinking game (taking a shot every time he used some iteration of those words), and unsurprisingly, we all got hammered beyond belief. It was always good natured trash talk, though, because Rogan's passion for the sport was so easy to see, and we appreciated that as a group of MMA fanatics. I still miss the days when Joe teamed up with Mike Goldberg on commentary, cuz that was the era we all became fans, but it's amazing what Rogan has accomplished since then. Love him or hate him, you have to respect the fact that he's one of the most successful figures in the history of the sport. Good stuff, Mr. Rivera!
I love the Goldie Rogan duo and you know I had to do it justice here. You could probably do a drinking game for every time he says "unbelievable"🤣 glad you enjoyed the vid🤝
Id love to hee joe rogan, mike Goldberg and jon anik on commentary.
He got to D then skipped straight to M so he could say "murderers row of marauders" over and over.
I’m still mad about Mike Goldberg, I love Jon Anik but Goldberg was as much the voice of the UFC as Joe was. Those two are what built the UFC into what it is today.
@strabe30 for sure, but at least Anik still has that voice and excitement, if Joe and Anik both aren't on it has no life. Think of all the crazy finishes we've got with no "and it is all over"
We need Joe to see this. He would definitely appreciate this.
That would be sick!
I'll talk to him
@@Mr.PotatoAWESOMEFitnessTipsok professor mayor
I got joes number, he’s an buddy of mine from high school we used to ride the bus together, chill guy
He would probably love it until the very end. Rogan has not made any mistakes. Please stop watching fake news.
What i find most amazing about this is the fact he had no training in sports commentary and became one of the best to ever do it from pure passion. When you do what your passionate about it gives you such a huge advantage
He did acting for TV and always standup which is the same side of the commentary coin. He's been practicing talking for a long time in a hard way
if you're a standup comedian for many years, you don't need much training in sports commentary
Lies again? Only Fans Bald Pussy
Proving you don’t need a lot of these things going in, if you just have passion.
you don't need fuckin training you stupid retard. what kind of moron thinks these commentators have a degree in commenting.
"i didnt know i was a loser til i started winning" one of the greatest quotes ever by one of the best male role models ever
*wasn't
14:34 "Literally I don't care about other sports, if they made basketball illegal it wouldn't even bother me"
Joe is and always will be my favorite commentator. He may have his flaws but no one does it like Joe. Aside from the great commentary, the funny moments when something crazy happens will never get old.
I genuinely get upset when a good card is outside of the US because Joe won’t be on commentary. He’s vital to an entertaining card
his commentary sadly has been shit for years lol
@failnation3472 while I respect your opinion I wholeheartedly don't agree with u.
in your opinion...@@failnation3472
My stepfather showed me UFC when chuck Liddell was the main guy. As a kid, I remember being really impressed by this one guy describing everything that was happening with his passion and enthusiasm, Joe Rogan. I remember looking up Joe Rogan on the internet and he pretty much became a huge influence on me growing up, his views on cannabis, psychedelics turned me on to Terrence McKenna. His views on life switched me up. Rogan is a huge reason why I now live on an island in Thailand, fit and healthy with my own cannabis business instead of being a miserable office guy. He was my big brother as weird as it may sound. That radio show where he's describing humanity as bacteria is like a prayer to me. Completely opened up my eyes.
anything but almighty God huh
@@logosfocus anything but open mindedness huh
@@logosfocus unbeknownst to you I found God thanks to the path Joe set me on.
Buddy talks about Joe Rogan like a religion
@@billythedreamer good for you, but many do not, as unfortunate as it is. He has derailed many people over the years by his messed up ideas of humanity, he is a textbook definition of a classical libertarian. Although on a personal level libertarians tend to turn to conservatism later in their lives, a great many of them fall prey to radicalism of whatever kind that might be, and they all end up with one thing in common, aversion from God. Joe has turned out better than what he was, there's no doubt about that, but taking talk show hosts as idols is never a good idea.
Joe Rogan once said "Martial arts is a vessel for human growth" and it changed my life ever since. Been training since 2017 thanks to Rogan, no matter what controversy pops up I still owe so much to mr. Joseph Rogan.
Such a good documentary. Dana White needs to be on JRE again man.
Thank you my friend!
I always get those two mixed up 😅
Beautiful and fair tribute to the Great Joe Rogan. He made me fall in love with MMA and the UFC and gave me endless insights into a lot of interesting things with his Podcast. He's a credit to the community. Man earned every cent he made and I love him to bits. ♥
And he never stopped being curious, stayed humble, still relates to the normal man. Legit my hero
This has to be one of the greatest breakdowns I've seen from this community. I never liked watching sports until I got into the UFC. I'm so glad to be apart of a community that produces high quality things such as this.
Thanks for this video. I've been saying it for years. Joe literally taught the og fan how to watch MMA. He was the best at doing that. He knew the names of the moves and the set ups, etc. He set the standard for MMA commentary.
Joe was perfect for this. He loves fighting, he trains it himself, he’s got personality and charisma for days, the fighters (most of them) like & respect him, and he works to be better every year (unlike Mike G).
Well, the OG's had been watching since UFC 1 and Rogan didn't get involved until UFC 12. Not hating on your comment but the O in OG literally is for "original", meaning from the start, so he didn't teach the OG's anything, but he did set the standard for those fans that came along later. 👍
@@vanhattfield8292it was a different sport before Rogan came in. Not much to teach. It was smash or be smashed. Rogan definitely taught the masses. Even fighters back then were referring to his commentary. You're being petty for the sake of being petty.
@@vanhattfield8292 I was watching from UFC 1. The commentary back then was terrible, the announcers didn't know what was going on, no one at that time had the overview of MMA because it was too new.
I absolutely LOVE News Radio, been watching the UFC since the very beginning, too. Always liked Rogan so i naturally gravitated towards his podcasts. Not keen on how stand up but i appreciate his passion for it. He's an essential part of the UFC machine, at least he was for a long while.
✊🏻
The thing that makes a great commentator is relatability. You can relate to Joes reactions to stuff, even if you don’t know what’s going on. He doesn’t just say what’s going on, he screams it, makes funny faces, is always smiling, says what he wants. It’s like talking to a buddy whose well educated in MMA
Beautiful video. The end of the video made me cry. Growing up, I never knew what I wanted to do for a living. All I loved was video games and sports. Throughout my life, I've never made a choice that brought my passions closer to a possible career. I'm 27, I work in manufacturing, I survive like most men, waiting every day for the end of the day, without any pleasure in my work and the feeling that my life got wasted and that it's too late.
Knowing that at least one man has succeeded in turning his passion into a livelihood at least cheers me up and made my day brighter.
You're not alone my friend. It's never too late.
23:21 everytime I hear say joe say congratulations I get a little happy because I remember so well how Charles directly went up to him on his mission to hug everybody in the building
Such an awesome moment
Extremely well done video again. Can't imagine how much time was required to edit all the quick cuts. Loved the 3D effect on photo stills and the rolling number effect to display the years as you went back and forth in time with Joe's story.
Bro I don’t know if you do it all by yourself.
But your production from the thumbnail design to the editing is TOP NOTCH.
Great work!
Man I’ve been watching videos on yo tube and editing for years and this edit and video production was amazing! I mean streaming platform, tv and movie level amazing! Kept me hooked and laughing out loud several times! You’ve truly earned a huge fan and subscriber!
The JRE was definitely one of the reasons why I fell in love with UFC and MMA. Thank you for putting this video together it was very engaging throughout. S tier content! 💪🏼
This was gold man, your patreon ad was so great, your editing skills just keep getting better
This video was really, really well done. Subbed, you killed it man. Great editing, I love sitting with my roommates and watching these types of ufc mini docs.
what a great video!!!! the editing and pacing is so awesome it didnt seem like 40 mins
The recap of the commentary was so legendary, loved the stills & the way you edited it 🔥
The doc I didnt know I needed. Got into UFC and JRE in the early 2000 during the Randy years. Didn't know Joe before the UFC but having his podcast almost as a companion piece during those years and his early comedy specials certainly took up a big chunk of my spare time
That was awesome. The content and quality were top notch mate. Be proud 👏
Man, this channel is simply awesome. The topics, story arcs, editing... Everything is top notch. And you seem to be a really cool guy. I think you and Weasle are the top dogs right now when it comes to content quality. So, keep up the good work!
Thanks brother that means a ton. Check out Patrick Gavia and Mixed Martial Academic as well!

Another certified classic. 🎉❤
You already know what it is brotha
Good video. I thought I knew the entire Rogan/UFC story, but there was a few things I learned and my timeline was a bit off. Very well done!
These visuals are insane, really good editing🔥🔥
Bro your channel is so good, the amount of time taken into these videos must be crazy. You’re gonna have millions of subs soon if you keep this type of stuff up man!
This was a very good and well done video. You should be proud of yourself. Great job!
I love your video man. Finally someone Made a docu on rogan. You are right. I remember missing his commentating when he left for a while. And it was the best thing when you could hear his voice again coming thru your tv
Joe is my teacher, my big brother, my dad, my friend, my mentor and my hero and I don’t care what anyone thinks. He's put me on to so many things that I love and never knew I would love and made them easily accessible, interesting and simple to understand. He's never claimed to be anything more than a man trying to navigate life, become a better person every day and share his experienceswith the world. How can you not respect that? If you cannot relate then you probably aren't doing so well internally and i hopd you find your way. This was an amazing video and i really appreciate the amount of detail and respect you've given it.
Thank you Lionel Rivera and Joe Rogan for sharing a part of your world with me!
Yoooooo lino just Wana say props on the editing killed it! 👍
love videos like this giving him the credit he deserves. great video dude
Great work Leo. Your best work yet. Nice one on one with you on JRE 🤣
Love this. Been gettin some taps with it. Thanks 🙏🏻
Dude, that was the best Patreon plug I’ve ever seen. It has me rolling laughing. There’s very few channels that I’d become a Patreon to, but yours is one of them, and it’s in part because of that plug. If I wasn’t struggling to feed and keep a roof over my family’s heads at the moment, I’d totally join your Patreon.
I actually only first found you now, your analysis is great but I'm not going to lie I liked and subscribed as soon as your edit with you and Joe talking was done 😂😂, that was awesome man 👌
Tremendous video! Very happy I found this channel that was one of the most engaging UFC/Rogan videos I’ve ever seen.
Brilliantly put together video man. Love short docs of MMA history. I know he seems super burnt out and repetitive these days, but he's a forever legend. Especially from 2015-2017 those JRE's you COULD NOT miss.
What a fantastic documentary! By far the best on CZcams! Learned many things didn’t this about Rogan I hadn’t known. Great archive of footage
I absolutely love the creative way you do your Patrion and commercials in the videos. You make them very entertaining and different.
The editing of this video is very high quality. I'm surprised it only has 35k views, deserves millions.
Thanks for the video , was very nice view so many iconic moments of the sport and learn more of the máster joe, nice edit make laugh . I see so much CZcams and i can tell u r gonna be big
Great tribute to one of the greatest commentators and podcasters of all time. Congratulations and well done. Thank you very much.
Man I just had to stop the video for a sec because damn that whole series of Rogans most significant commentary moments genuinely made me emotional. You just made me relive so many happy memories because I was there for the latter 60% of them staying up at 6am (I’m from the UK) and struggling not to wake the whole street up while I was silently screaming and my mind was blowing at the most unimaginable moments in the sports history. Thanks for that man I really needed it today.
Unreal how much effort you put into making these videos! Just wanted to leave some appreciation here…❤
Thank you bud
I enjoyed this a lot, great job man!
Awesome video, great quality!
Great job! Joe definitely turned me onto the UFC, love it!

Beautiful editing video. Joe if he see this would thank you sincerely. I really enjoyed it. Got a néw subscriber. Keep up the good work😊

Fantastic video 👌.

This documentary was fantastic what an amazing life Joe Rogan has lived so far and hopefully many many more years. The ending made me cry.
Such a good video thank you!
The way Joe narrates others life is so refreshing n exciting to hear , he is a very good hype man n story teller
This deserves a standing ovation. Subscribing.
This is such a beautiful production ❤
This is really good mate. Really impressed. Gripping documentary.
Keep the videos coming! Great channel
Great documentary man. Definitely earned my subscription!!
I was born with spina bifida and high functioning autism and albeit with limitations I can run and walk. I was obese and always made excuses that I couldnt be fit because of my condition. It was through my love of mma found in my late teens and listening to Joe that I got a little fire started in me. His matter of fact way of speaking resonated with me and there's a clip of him somewhere where he says if you can move you can work out. Im 30 now and I weight train everyday as well as train boxing. I begin Jiu jitsu next month. Joe has been one of many motivating factors that changed my life for the better.
Great mini documentary. Well put together 👏🏻👍🏻
Amazing content. You are the joe Rogan of videos. Keep it up my man. Subscribing now.
The amount of time that must go into one of these. Awesome, thanks!
🥺🙏🏽
Fantastic video, as usual. Joe is why MMA is in as high a profile as it is in. The Underground and the hardcores have always been there, but as he grew in stature, so did the visibility and prestige of the UFC. Thank you, Joe. Been a fan since News Radio and Fear Factor!
Great video. Well done. I’ve been watching UFC since 95 on VHS video in Japan. Joe’s a champ 😎
The you and JR edit was funnnnny i’ll give it to you 😂
Bro, you make amazing videos, docu like quality. Keep it up
really great ending, loved the vid
LMFAOOO that was the greatest patreon ad EVER 😂😂😂😂👏🏾👏🏾 you got me for life
Brilliant video, if you don’t mind me asking, what was the music played for the “Joe’s Iconic Commentary” part
3:00 Lol His character essentially seems like alternate universe’s version of Joey from _Friends._
An excellent film!
There's videos...and then there are films.
Kudos, sir.
The edit of you and Joe amped up had me ☠️ 😂😂
The patreon plug is the highlight of the video good work bro
This video was absolutely fantastic! From the very beginning and all the way to the end, I absolutely LOVED it! Brilliant 👏👊☝️
Mate you truly don't miss with these videos. Can i ask how you create that 3D depth effect on images? i love how much live that breathes into them!
Thanks brother. It's parallax. Can't do it myself. I have someone with skills give them life😅
Moving on up hahaha, appreciate it and keep smashing it!@@lionelrivera_MMA
Ive never seen this style of video its cool joe tells the entire story through several different podcasts very well done great job!
great job bro 👍
A true hommage to Joe Rogan, great editing, love it. Thank you for this video
Everything about this video is beautiful! thanks for sharing. I have to say though it's a bit over-edited, the shots are changing too often, and the snapshot sound effect is a bit too loud, it distracts the viewer from the amazing content. Apologies for the unsolicited feedback, you got a great thing going & I'm rooting for you!
That was a great presentation of Joe Rogan's case!
Congratulations for your work!
(I am watching Joe 20+ years)
Great video bro
This is a great video. Thanks
Best Patreon plug I've EVER SEEN!
That video would have taken an enormous effort. Well bloody done!.
Way to go buddy. This was great.
Great video man, just subbed
Nice! Thank you!
The "Patreon" skit with Joe and you made me a subscriber. :D Good work.
✊🏻🤣
I watched maybe the first UFC, I had no idea what I was watching. Then I started watching again in the early 2000’s. I watched a little baseball in the 90’s when the Braves were winning, I really don’t watch sports, but the UFC is something I could actually sit and enjoy, unless I was jumping up with excitement. I remember hearing the crowd boo when the fight went to the ground. Without Joe explaining a lot of people may have tuned out. I do miss the days of the sport literally evolving right in front of your eyes. For example arm bars, seeing someone roll out and escape, when just last week it was a done deal.
Lionel thought i would just let you know i absolutely enjoyed
These serious you have put together they are put together extremely well and make excellent viewing well done and you have got my attention top drawer 👌
I appreciate that brother!
2005... The very first Ultimate Fighter was HUGE for me!!!! Joe Rogan Fear Factor Personality, but mainly explaining what was going on on the ground got me hooked aswel, Rogan's the MAN!!!
I am brazilian, I didnt know about the whole Joe Roagan career. I just knew him from his Podcast. THEN I discovered he was the guy from UFC. THEN I discovered he also knows a lot of martial arts. THEN I discovered he was/is a very sucessful comedian. THEN I discovered he was famous by Fear Factor. The guy can do anything and be sucessful
what a video, good job man.
Rogan got me in shape and lit a passion in me for martial arts. He also introduced me to shrooms and DMT and Bill Burr and the national treasure that is Joey Diaz. He helped me perfect my English! He filled my endless boring shifts with levity and energy. He may not have been perfect but he was what worked at the time. I'm grateful.
I always love the fights more when Joe is commentating because his excitement is infectious.
