Here a are a couple of my thoughts from my own attempts at painting scopes .
-Dont put any tape on your lenses it has glue on it. Instead put cotton balls over the lenses and then cut out a piece of thin cardboard over that.
-When it come to painting a plastic stock. Sometimes the plastic stock has a top layer of paint on it. What I have done is treated it like an unfinished wood stock; wipe down the plastic stock with acetone to find the true color. Then lightly sand to make a ruff surface, clean and paint as usual.
Thank you for your insight!
The tape didn't go on the lenses, it went over the rim, completely covering the lenses but about a half centimeter away.
Good point about the plastic stick! This rifle has a synthetic stick but not like a hard plastic, it's a little softer kinda rubber like, a little. So I wouldn't want to pain this, but a lot of other stocks are hard and those should be the done the way you described it.
Thank you!
@@Huntress308 If it is anything like a "soft touch" stock coating I got once fro Bell & Carlson. I'll say this.
The soft clear coat was good for about 2 years . Then it yellowed for about 2-3 years. Then one year it became sticky .
So I took that clear coat off with acetone. Repainted the stock like you say and then some automotive 2k clear coat with 1000 grit sanding to dull the shine down.
It's been a long time since I have done this. This was a great refresher video! Simple, easy to follow and well thought out video. Nicely done!
Thank you so much!
Great video,..I learned something different today thanks. They do make a "Flat Clear" paint at Home Depot in case anyone wanted to know. I've used the Matte Clear paint one one of my rifles, but it still has some "Sheen" to it. Going to try the "Flat Clear" paint to see how it works out.
Awesome video! I love painting my guns. I've been wanting to do a snow camo lately on my 243 even though it hardly snows any more here in the ozarks. Guess the deer will see it and think cool gun!
I really enjoyed your vidio. I learned alot, and have now painted some of my guns, and scopes, as well as some friends guns. Thank you, and i love the message on your shirt
Thank you so much!
I've added your video to my save and watch later list for quite some time and I'm finally just now getting around to trying this out. Awesome job on your work and I hope I can do it at least halfway decent to your work.
Thank you so much!!
You are amazing! I am impressed with the detail and quality of your diy camo patterns. I'm inspired to do it now. Very cool stuff. Thank you!

Great video! amazing tips and what a awesome job!the scope looks great and thanks for pointing out on how it takes much longer to dry on plastics and the proper techniques! 10/10 looks like I might have a weekend project 😊
Catch Fish Not Feelings thank you 😊 I’m about to paint the tailgate of my truck. You can buy automotive quality top clear coat, that’s what you wanna use for cars. I already painted my mirrors 3 months ago and it held up perfect. I’ll be making a video about it of course

@@Huntress308 would you be good with me giving you a shout out in my next video. Should be in about a week. Many of us paint our tactical rifles on the team and yours is the best I've seen yet. If you are cool with it I will give you a heads up when I post.
Sheepdog Overwatch that would be fantastic !! Thank you so much!
nice job on the scope...
Thank you so much!!
My suggestion for others is if you really want a nice looking paint job and you really care how it's going to look is to practice on other items. Preferably something with curves, etc. I used a cheap airsoft gun and pellet gun to practice and it helped a TON.
Awesome job on those scopes and keep up the good work. I love seeing others paint jobs and would love to see more. My friendly opinion and only trying to help but the background music is a little too loud for me while you are talking. Not sure how others feel about it but it might help to turn it down a little bit in the future. Maybe 20% lower?
Thank you so much! And yes you have some good advice. Definitely practice on something before. And most importantly, the pain should be bought brand new.
And about the loud music: I apologize. This was one of my first videos 2 years ago, I was still trying to figure out how to edit and here were so many little things. At that point I don't think I got the volume part down yet lol.
You did a great job with the scope and you explanations. However, from my experience with a nylon and a plastic stock shot gun and rifle, I had no trouble with painting them and the paint drying. Perhaps you had a high humidity day. Always best to spray paint on a low humidity date for faster drying...also, lighter spray coats help too!
Mike Howard thank you so much! The only time I ever tried to paint plastic was one of my lanterns and it turned out different. It was ok, I still have it, and looks pretty good (for a lantern anyways lol) bit the paint took a long time to dry and it almost bled together (the different layers) not something I would want on a small scope. Maybe it was a different type of plastic, or like you said, more humidity but since then I tried to stay away from plastics lol
great video.. still have 0 braveness to camo my (airsoft) scope worried about I mess it up really haha
Thank you! You can't really mess it up 😊 you just have to be brave.
I actually I just did a couple of videos where I used a sponge (actually 3 videos) and with that it's even easier, really very little chances of messing it up, and easy to fix things.
In one video I was painting a high point handgun, which is a cheaper, low quality gun and so many people gave me a hard time about it. They completely missed the point, that it's not about the gun but about the technique I used.
So maybe check that out (it's my latest upload), but inly focus on the painting, not the gun itself lol
alright, all im really worried about is getting wrong camo patterns and that it just would really bad then the basic black, I was using camo tape for my scope but it doesn't look as good really, thank you for tips!@@Huntress308
just purchased crossbow(camod) and want to camo the scope. It has clear lens protectors. Should I cover them up with camo to stop reflections?
GREGTAR2 anything that is shiny would benefit from being concealed. I would just make sure I tape over the lens, even if the protector is closed, the paint can still get through.
Let me know how it turns out!
You are a great artist ! How much do you charge to paint others scopes ?
Thank you so much! No charge! I like doing it for fun and it doesn't even take a lot of paint

Nice Job ! But why didn't you paint the whole rifle camo ?
What you have on your back its beautiful camo?
the one that's behind me? That's just a sheet I bought, I put it up because this was done in my garage :)
Painting plastic is not a problem as long as you use the right paint. They make lots of different paints now for painting plastic, you just have to do a little research to know which ones to use.
Freakazoid 927 yes, fortunately there are always more and more products are out there
were did you learn all your skills ? hunting fishing ect?
David Nave sort of taught myself. But I learned the most from other hunters. They always love to tell their stories and how they got their kill or how they didn’t and I’m always there to listen. Fishing I kinda figured out in my own from online lol but I know very little. Lots to learn.
So thank you for the information I flexed a couple of your videos now. You are quite efficient. Much appreciate it. Plus you need to be cloned. We need more women like you.
Thank you so much! Your words mean a lot!

Good info. The music was too much and not needed. Way distracting.
Thank you so much for watching! Sorry about the music. I made this video 4 years ago, it was one of my first and was then just figuring out how to make CZcams videos lol.
Then the video kinda took off so I didn't want to delete it and redo it
Why not do the whole riffle????? I was dissapointed you couldn't see the meshing you 1st put on it!!!
Sorry to disappoint you 😊
I didn't want to do the whole rifle because the material is sort of a rubbery substance. The paint would not sit well, it would bleed in together and it would be a mess.
It didn't make sense
Can you camo my rifle❤
Yes 😊let's do it this weekend
Wow...great job on the video instruction. Plus a beautiful woman who loves high powered rifles and isn't worried about breaking her nails. Outstanding! Are you single?
Thank you. And yes I'm single but don't let that stop you from watching my other videos 😆
