I did not think it would turn out that nice. I've seen a lot of spray paint jobs that totally ruin a rifle but this one is actually my favorite camo design I've ever seen.
Really appreciate it! Been doing mine like this for years. Appreciate the comment.
I've never seen a rattle can camo job ruin a gun.. so as long all important parts are masked. It's a tool, paint it, use it hard and keep it clean. I guess if you're going to resell it one day, probably don't touch it.. but to each their own.
When you first started out I thought...Ughhhh he’s ruining it.But DAMN,The finished product looks KILLER!!!!!Really Awesome Job!!!!
Thanks, man! Really appreciate that and thanks for watching!
Have you check the prices of spray paint lately. That paint you have their has really gone up. It's 5.95 a can now .
Yep. Around $6.25 here now 🥵
@@HoosierHunter theirs no way they can justify it.
I like how the sponge produces both the micro and the macro pattern. I think I like this result over some of the other methods I've seen out there... it looks really great!
Appreciate that and thanks for watching! Subscribe to see more and let me know how yours turns out, if you try it.
That looks fantastic! And for people wanting to try it out, do your mags first! Takes less time to do, takes less time to clean off if you hate it, and much cheaper if you can't clean it!
Thanks man! Yep, start on something easy or something you can throw away. Thanks for watching.
By far the easiest, best method and best looking camo stock painting vid I’ve seen. Thank you !
Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Earned a subscriber.
Thanks buddy! Appreciate you following along!
That is ridiculous, you are so smart for figuring that out i would of never imagined that it was painted by touching it with a sponge a couple times basically
Thanks bud. Appreciate you watching! Have a good one👍
Using a sea sponge is great, man. Makes everything look cooler, shoot better, and more tactical. The most important part being “cooler” LoL have fun!
When I was a teen I camo'ed my stepfather's airboat using that sponge method. Got lots of compliments about it.
Looks great! I used the sponge method on my .22 and it works so well. You can't mess up.
Thanks!! Appreciate you watching and glad it worked out for you! 👍
Thanks for your willingness to share this technique; it worked great on my rifle. You did a great job.
Thank you! Happy to hear it helped you with some ideas!
Turned out great! Thank you for taking the time to share this camo method.
Nice results with a simple technique. I sprayed a gun recently the usual rattle can way, at the end I decided to paint the receiver side walls and used the white spongy packing foam you get in many product boxes nowadays. It worked a treat too. So much so after watching your video I think I'll repaint it all over as you did.
Nice work, keep them coming.
Awesome! Thanks for watching and good luck!
Liked and subscribed. I wish I had watched before painting my AR. I may have to go back over it with the sponge method here. It came out well but I was hoping for more of a patterned look like you have here. Awesome job man!
Thanks buddy! Appreciate you subscribing and following along. Should be pretty easy for you to go over what you already have done. Good luck and take it easy 👍
Dang this is one of the BEST gun painting video I have seen so far. WELL done man. It looks fantastic and VERY practical colors.
Appreciate ya man! Thanks for the comment 🤙🤙
The sponge technique seems much more effective than some pretty stencils. And quick and easy! Don't forget to incorporate a larger pattern in the design because you want to break up that rifle shape at longer distances.
What was the temperature when you painted it? Roughly
@@justinhorn4246 Just like any painting, ideally you want it to be above 50°F.
@Trav_Can damn it lol. Ok well I have a model 11 savage 243 I'm wanting to paint but it's 33 degrees right now and I don't have heat in my shop. I need to work on being more patient. Thanks for the info
@@justinhorn4246I realize this is a year later but get a 20lb propane tank with one of those Mickey Mouse ear looking heaters you put on top they’ll heat an area like crazy
Absolutely the best video I've seen and the best looking camo job! Simple, no mess, easy! Getting ready to try this out on an H&R 10 gauge that's been cut down.
Thank you 👍👍
Wow! Your stock looks great and your technique was simple. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks!! Appreciate the feedback and you watching 👍
I love the way that rifle turned out! That's much better than the idea I had in mind before watching! It looks like it was dipped! Great job!
Thanks! I appreciate that. It’s a fun project and pretty cheap.
Thanks man. This is by far the easiest way for me to camo out all my guns. Very creative and cool. God bless.
No problem and glad I was able to help a little. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more content.
Nice job! Simple process with a great end result. Thanks for posting!
Thanks buddy! Appreciate you watching! 👍👍
Awesome job 👏 👍! Like your color choices! Simple but effective. Outstanding!
I have watched many, MANY videos showing spray paint techniques & effects. And then I see this. Looks awesome & very DIY doable. I can relate to your sense of humor too. I will probably try this on my Mossberg Patriot stock.
Appreciate ya, man! Thanks for watching and be sure to stay tuned for more! Let me know how how the Patriot stock turns out 🤘🤘
I think your method is the best I've seen. People don't see the fine little snakeskin patterns from netting or whatever from a distance. Neither do animals. At distance they see larger discrete blobs of color or gray. Too. Much of similar color looks solid at distance. And you see the silhouette. You need larger aresas of strong contrast to break up the outline. I've done it and did the clear coat too. However I found that even a Matt finish will be somewhat shiny and reflect light. So I either take a little steel wool and scuff it or I omit the clear coat so the flat paint is flat and reflects the least amount of light. I'm gonna try the sponge method next!
Thanks! People seem to love it and have had tons of people use this method. It works really well.
Best one I've ever seen!! Seriously I will forever be subscribed. Thank you!
Means a lot buddy! Appreciate the comment and you subscribing 👍
First video of yours I ever watched. Very well done and I am going to do 3 rifles the same way. Much better than any of the others I've seen on painting guns. Sponge pattern is great.
Thanks buddy! Appreciate you watching and good luck with the paint jobs 👍

Currently researching painting a rifle stock because I just picked up a new Ruger American predator in .308 and here I stumble across your painting technique. Turns out it's on the exact same stock I'm buying for my Ruger as well. Looks great! Definitely looking forward to seeing it if you paint the rest. Already subbed so I can follow you on down the road. Good luck and happy hunting.
Perfect timing. Glad you found my video. Thanks for watching and the sub. Stay tuned for more to come. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a good one 👍
I like the look and saves me from looking all over the neighborhood for all thise woodsy components! I got a black mostly Gamo air rifle, think I will use this on it....its got a cheap scope on it and will do the scope and barrel also! Thanks, enjoyed it when you finally started painting! Yep, using that matte clear coat will save that paint and keep it looking good! My base coat will be matte black over any shiny bits. Will ask my wife about that sponge, she's the artist in the family!
Yep, has served me well civilian side and when I was in. Just works well being easy to change on what you need.
Awesome, great idea and result with the sponge.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching.
I dig it. Nice work!
Thanks man!

The best DIY camo pattern I've seen on a rifle
Nice looking result 👍🏻
I'll never forget my gunwriter Uncle Dick who, in the '60s, taped his Model 70 .222 Rem for hunting fox in Michigan snow.
He used white first aid tape. He was the coolest guy I knew!
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing 👍
