Rust-Oleum Camo Pack: amzn.to/1mamQUS Talking through and showing how I did my rattle can spray paint job on a Savage Mark II FV-SR in 22lr. www.squirrelhuntingjournal.com/
I have found that you can find several good plastic plants that make better stencils than the natural plants do. Being made of plastic, they are stiffer than natural plants and don't move while spraying. Plus, you can save them in your cammo kit for later touch ups or other projects.
Lol , thats Fred , i was in the check out line , like a week after thanksgiving at the dollar general store. I looked over next to me , there was 3 boxes of said stuff , dirt cheap . What was 2-5 dollars i got for less than a dollar . Like 50 or 75 cents . I loaded up on different leaf patterns and such , great deal ! Lol the lady looked at me kinda funny ' like would you a man be buying all this stuff . Then she couldn't help her self and did ask . My reply , im gonna paint Freedom . My rifle . I gotta say ive seen some great paint jobs , but Nate killed it here , especially with off the shelf walmart paint
Excellent work. I relied heavily on this video when I originally painted my FV-SR over a year ago. Watched it again today as a brush-up because I'm about to swap out the factory stock. Thanks for sharing your work!
Must've watched 20 camo paint videos and this is one of the best if not the best. It's more than a camo job it's like a landscape portrait by a famous painter.
Wow! That's a pretty humbling statement. Makes me glad I actually filmed the whole ordeal. It's been watched way more than I ever expected it to be. Appreciate you dropping by and leaving a comment.
Its really nice that you don't take out hardly any of the footage from the video. When you can see everything that is done specifically, it really helps.
Well done! I can't wait to paint my Savage .17wsm like that. Absolutely a wonderful paint job. It just looks great with the depth and how the dusting of paint gives little details while blending it all together
The best DIY camo job I've seen. This rifle turned out perfect. Great contrast in the colors and I really like the soft edges left from using natural foliage instead of stencils. Great job!
Considering the rattle can nature of the paint, it looks awesome. You really have a good eye for the composition of the natural objects and shadowing. Thank you for the video.
Hey Nate, I used your method on my air rifle, and it came out great. Did it about 8 months ago, now decided to redo it. I have busted about 12 squirrels trying to get my peaches and pecans!, they can't see that camo job!!! Thanks again Bro...
Looks good to me. My experience with Cerakote hasn’t been very good as far as durability goes. The great thing about a rattle can job, other than cost, is the ease of touching it up if needed. Thanks for the video from Central N.C.
Před 7 lety+1
That turned out as good if not better than some of the commercial camouflage paint jobs I've seen that cost same as your rifle.
I've probably watched at least 30 videos this afternoon, and this one definitely looks the best. Great job brother!👍 All I want to do is the slide on my pistol, so this gave me assurance that I can do it. Thanks for sharing! ☮️
I was thinking your base color was too light as well but I was wrong, that paint job turned out great. Much better than most I've seen and right up there with the best. Thanks for sharing.
NICE... The whole trick to doing camo is to use what is around you. Leaves, ferns, grasses, whatever the background is, you need to mimic it. Very nice job Nate the bone buster
Another tip, I see you're having trouble seeing the paint with the bushy pine leaf branch. Try snipping off some of it's branches to make it less bulky and more flat. The paint is having trouble spraying past the bushy stuff. And to those new to spray cans, and want to reuse the remaining paint in the can later, turn the can upside down and spray until paint stops flowing out of the nozzle. The nozzle and tube inside shouldn't clog up the next time you use it then. I'm spraying my RC tank in camo, great video thanks!
Nice job, looks great. Also, this was the best demo I've seen of actual show & tell of the process...of how you did it anyway. Gives me the confidence to do some camo projects myself. Thanks brother.
I just found this, and I agree, this is one of the best camo videos hands down. I am painting myself and I like the idea you used. Thanks for the information.
that's one of the best camo jobs i've seen on YT...great job,has lots of depth, looks very 3d...a little on the dark side for my area but that's easily cured..great job
Brother you did an amazing job with the Camo I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like it but when you were done I just think it turned out phenomenal! I'm going to try it on my RRA Ar 10 thx for sharing!
I've looked a dozens and dozens of camo videos and I think this is the one I'll use as may guide for doing my AR. I also have the FVSR in .22 long and will do it also.
you can get awesome fake leaf and branch patterns at stores like michaels, hobby lobby even walmart. they dont blow off when spraying and you get crisper edges and better looking patterns. they are dirt cheap too like $3.00 each. if you use the camo colors from rustoleum or krylon, definitely use spray clear as they tend to dry chalky and scrape off easily. the clear makes a big difference
so I'm sitting here surfing CSC while I'm watching camo vids on CZcams, and out of nowhere comes the tactical Wilson racquet!! I've been browsing Dorton's thread daily for about a week now. just making sure this is what I really want to do to my AR. great job bud, and I'll see you on the board. zukimon out...
This is hands down one of the best camo jobs I have seen! Good job dude!

That's a great idea.
natebonebusta also using an airbrush gives you a lot more control.

I've been looking at rifle camo videos, as others have mentioned, and this is by far the best. Good Job, Man...looks real.
Excellent work. I relied heavily on this video when I originally painted my FV-SR over a year ago. Watched it again today as a brush-up because I'm about to swap out the factory stock. Thanks for sharing your work!

Best gun camo job I have seen, thus far. Excellent work, brother. I like that you added the clear coat.
Its really nice that you don't take out hardly any of the footage from the video. When you can see everything that is done specifically, it really helps.

that is by far the best camo job I have ever seen
Probably the best paint job I've seen in CZcams, nice work dude!
The best DIY camo job I've seen. This rifle turned out perfect. Great contrast in the colors and I really like the soft edges left from using natural foliage instead of stencils. Great job!
Thanks! I've been stunned by how it turned out, and how the video has been so well received.

+Samuel Cruz That's great news! We just worked a property that had pear and pecan snatchers, as of today there are 11 less. Keep up the good work.

I was thinking your base color was too light as well but I was wrong, that paint job turned out great. Much better than most I've seen and right up there with the best. Thanks for sharing.
I think u found your calling, great job!

That turned out extremely bad ass
NICE... The whole trick to doing camo is to use what is around you. Leaves, ferns, grasses, whatever the background is, you need to mimic it. Very nice job Nate the bone buster
Thanks for watching. What you are saying is exactly right.
From all the videos I have watched, this to me is my favourite. 👊

I’m glad it worked out cause it was my first go at something like this. Glad it was helpful. Thanks for taking time out to watch.
The blurriness gives it a great 3D effect. I'll be doing this myself. Looks great.
Looks like a really good paint job.
Really awesome and unique camo job man!
Man nice tutorial finally a good video! Your giving me the courage to paint my maverick 88
The flat matt clear was a light-bulb moment for sure. Thanks.
You're right, my thumb was also painted over, blended in right with the stock. Good observation, as I'd never caught that. Glad you liked it.
