I have a theory that this episode (or at least the A plot) was originally S8 E1 before they re-wrote the season following the George Floyd incident and BLM movement in 2020. To me, its the first episode that truely feels on form with the previous seasons and the idea of "Balancing" childcare and policework is a natural plot idea after Amy giving birth to Mac in S7E13. Either way, I really enjoy this episode. The Fransia case sounds like one of the most fun cases ever presented in the show, and having it all happen off screen to Boyle and how that affects Jake is a great plotline for his character and showing how much he has changed from the man he was in the pilot to a responsible father. Also the scene in the breakroom where Jake and Charles have to sing lullabyes to talk is probably my favourite scene in this season (or at least in the top 5 for sure, I haven't given it too much thought trying to think of others I like more).

The dampness of most of Season 8 was on purpose. All in the context of lockdowns and Black Lives Matter meant that producing a show that painted cops in a good light was difficult, but they still wanted to wrap it up and give the characters satisfying endings. The only other big show I can think of that even tried setting their episodes in that 2020 context (and a final season) was 'Superstore', and they had a similar problem, but still managed satisfying ends for their characters too.

Things were really nad at yhe time in the US. I think B99 was the only show still giving new episodes in the US at the time.

Respectfully, I think you’re taking the extreme behavior of the characters too seriously. The story was inspired by the Greek myth of Pygmalion, who sculpted the perfect woman from stone. Shaw uses that to create a satire of the Edwardian class structure and the dynamic between men and women of the era. The story is told very firmly tongue in cheek. It’s a very dated style of comedy, but it’s one I appreciate nonetheless. Cheers!

Watching this in theaters was soooooo cinematic and fun. It was immersive for me imo. I love how this movie gave us a new villain and introducing a magic in this world. It’s not to insane for a ghostbusters film. And yes the mayor is Walter Peck.

It was pretty good. These 2 movies remind me a lot of the 1st two movies. The 1st one was great and the sequel was ok but nowhere near as good.

I went through something like what Donny went through with my ex. They drugged me too so this episode was so much more relatable then I ever expected it. Its a really hard watch.

Here you begin to see the biggest problem with this season. The overt favortism towards Matt. I blame Jeremy, not Matt. We really have to embrace a "the points don't matter approach" here because of it. Unbelievably it DOESN'T ruin the season, any more than Jeremy being a dull drip does, because everyone other than Jeremy (even Matt in his own semi-villainous way) ups their game, in terms of staying entertaining.

Urzila asking Paul to do a thumbs up and then scorching him with the disappointed "Eh, not as good as I thought" is one of my favourite things, it's so childish. The school-bully-in-a-bad-movie yoyo flick is perfect

There are some voices that are just pure sex made of sound waves. The late, great Tony Jay's voice was one of them. (And he does such a damn good job as the villain here!) Edited to add: I forgot to point out, it's Hugo the gargoyle who is Disney's first gay character. Djali the goat is male. Esmerelda and Quasimodo use male pronouns to refer to him. Hugo, also male, seems genuinely attracted to Djali. It's not a plot point but it's definitely not hidden either. (And in the terrible, terrible sequel, Hugo and Djali sort of become a couple?)
