this minisseries broke me. I'm still emotional watching your reaction
I put the 1st episode on at 9pm last Sunday night, I thought "if I like it I'll watch the rest over the week" .... I binged the whole thing that night 😅

I love your take.
People seem to focus so much on how uncomfortable they are that they miss that both Donnie and Martha are charming and charismatic in their own ways.
That some times we spend time with people through work, or whatever that might not be our first pick as a friend but are polite and kind and try to make the best of it.
Most people just want some connection. We're social creatures. Hence going to pubs and such.
I was in the bar biz for a long time. When it comes to customers getting attached, it's not a question of if but when. Obviously, not all Martha level. But there are lots of lonely people out there.
And approval is a hell of a drug.

I wonder if the actress who played Martha took inspiration from Kathy Bates' performance in Misery (if you haven't seen it, it's a great movie for the channel, really underappreciated). She definitely has the same vibes as Kathy Bates' character
One of the most realistic depictions of abuse against men ive ever seen. Obviously because the main actor went through it so he basically shared his life with the director

I saw you posted this and i thought to myself ive got to watch it first before seeing your reaction, and like others on here i ended up binge watching the whole series...disturbing in places and full of OMG moments, i reacted exactly the same as you.. cant wait to see your future reactions to this.. it could be one of the best things to watch of 2024, currently no.1 on the netflix charts here in the uk.

Yes! I'm so glad you're doing a reaction to this. More on what you said at the beginning - the main character/actor (Richard Gadd) is the one who went through this and wrote it. How amazing that he could write this and act it after experiencing it. Anyway, looking forward to your reactions! 🙂
