David Correos is the greatest and most unhinged contestant in the whole TM universe, just the perfect mix of craziness, dedication, cuddliness and chaos
Rhod Gilbert and Fern brady are on that level
And I feel like he often gets less points than deserved, while Matt feels overpraised a lot, IMO.
To be fair, I think Lucy Beaumont beats him.
Agreed. He's BONKERS in the best way. Hands down the most watchable contestant on ANY Taskmaster, ever. It's not even close, although that's not to say there aren't a few others who are on a plateau below him, but themselves above the rest.

It was the Aussies using NZ's location not the other way around.

David is a legend, but I love Guy Montgomery, too. His sense of humor absolutely tickles me.

David is fully unhinged in the best way, even within a generally nutty cast. I adore Paul as the TM assistant, he’s definitely my favorite surrogate Alex. Also, a bunch of NZ tasks are adapted in later UK seasons (mostly from 13 on, but I think 1 or 2 from NZs1 appeared in UK12) so that’s something to watch for in the future!
Paul is brilliant. Very similar to Alex... and that's no slam, but a compliment. He pulls it off nicely. Being Alex, but just a hair different, plus having to make up for a boring, less charismatic Taskmaster (which the actual Alex doesn't have to).
I honestly think this might be my favourite season of any taskmaster, including uk ones.
There are a couple big moments in this series and they're in Episode 7 and Episode 10.
But honestly this series just gets better and better with every passing episode, so good

i was a fan of guy montgomery before this but the whole cast really won me over, especially david. absolutely one of the best taskmaster seasons ever, excited for you to see the more iconic tasks!
Agreed. Every single cast member would have been a highlight of any OTHER cast on any edition. Together? Spectacular. With David the cherry on top.
I'm not sure, but I think the Aussie Taskmaster was filmed in NZ.
They used the house, the studio was Australia.

This is my first time watching a non-UK episode of Taskmaster, and TBH I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I'm not sure about the Taskmaster himself, but the tasks and the contestants are great!

This season Taskmaster is up there with the best of the UK seasons. The whole cast is brilliant, but Guy Montgomery is just a genuinely funny bloke.
A+ on the choice. I knew none of these ppl previous to my first watch and yes, David is a Legend!!! Looking forward to this series :)))

Yeah, Jeremy isnt my favourite but I absolutely adore Paul. And this is my fave season of NZ. David, Guy and Laura are my faves this season. Theres a prize task coming up where she really shines...
Early Days, this season gets really unhinged in later episodes. Also inspiration for later Tasks in Recent UK TM Series 14 and later
Urzila stan account registering for duty! I don't know if I'd have ever realised I loved her without this show, she's so dry and abrupt, and I thought well maybe she'll be a crap Jo Brand (cause the boundary of "comically lazy" and "joylessly disinterested" is unforgiving), and then you see her fling herself off a short pier into a gross lake and ask "did i get any air?" and it turns out she's a huge goofball like the rest.
David's power is off the scale though, he's the reason courts had jesters and morris dancers have fools, his driving force in the studio sections as a source of energy and a guide for the comic fighting is just instant, everyone is better because he's there
The house is in NZ, but yes, it is the same house that the Aussie version uses.
The 5 of the contestants work so well together - i even watched a spelling bee with them in (its guy Montgomery's spelling bee with 5 friends

Loved this series and tbh don't have an issue with Jeremy - definitely dry, maybe my British sensibilities appreciate that a little more 🤩🤩🤩 Paul as the assistant is ultimately MVP throughout - just like Alex, his willingness for humiliation knows no bounds!! I love Guy's humour but all are great in their own ways.
Guy Montgomery has the most absurd podcast with another comedian Tim Batt called The Worst Idea of All Time. In the first season each week they watched and reviewed Grown Ups 2 every week for a year. In the second season they did the same with Sex and the City 2. They also do one with the McElroy brothers called Til Death Do Us Blart that’s released on Thanksgiving. Every year until they die they are watching and reviewing Paul Blart Mall Cop 2. I can’t emphasise how ridiculous and funny they are. If you listen obviously go back to the start for it and do it in order.

I honestly don’t love the head guy here, but maybe that’s just because no one will ever be Greg Davies. I think Paul is amazing though, and once I heard Urzila’s name I remembered how great she is too.
I do hope you circle back around to the first series of NZ, but I’m happy you’re doing it at all for a bit.

My favorite is Episode 8, I think. There’s a task that’s surprisingly very American, and seeing these New Zealanders struggle to demonstrate what they know about American history never fails to make me laugh.
When you get back to the British series, watch closely. Some tasks will look rather similar to New Zealand’s.
The TM/Assistant banter is my least favorite part of any iteration of the show, so much so that I tend to +10 through is whenever possible, so lack of it in NZ is perfect for me. I’ve also heard that the NZ version gets cut down for time much more than the others, so that may be why.
This episode is actually one of the tamer ones. 2, 4, 6, 7 and 10 have some truly insane moments - can't wait! Re Jeremy as the TM, his style of humour is very very dry, which is quite a Kiwi thing but doesn't always translate so well IMHO.
Great reminder. I recall liking Ep 1. But Ep 2? Made me sit up and realize how great this season was, and would be.

Paul Williams is easily the best thing (sorry about objectifying a person :)) in Taskmaster NZ. I have resommended the original Taskmaster to all my friends but I made several of them watch NZ season 2 with me, because it is just that great.
I watched TM NZ Season 1 and struggled to even finish it. It was so mediocre and lacked all the charm of the UK version. I'm glad I stuck around for Season 2, just hoping for a better group of contestants to save it (and they absolutely did). This season has some top tier Taskmaster moments.
There's also a fan-made Taskmaster Minnesota made by college students. I was really surprised by how well they captured the feeling of Taskmaster. It has two seasons and is probably worth your time at some point.

Your NZ idiom accent is choice eh, but the way you're saying Taskmaster sounds super Saffer a la Urzula (who does a lorra work in Oz bro)
The banter part isn't good, but it's not just Jeremy, as pretty much everyone says. I don't like onstage Paul at all. He does a good job on location. In the studio... his joke attempts are trying to be awkward, like Alex Horne's. He doesn't get the same kind of reaction from the TM and he keeps doing them. The thu thing is, from what I understand, Jeremy Wells is a news guy, a morning show host, therefore dry. Paul Williams is a comedian, so I expected him to be able to engage the TM. Of course, them having to cut a lot of stuff due to an extra advertising break isn't helping the in-studio part of the show.
About the Jeremy-Matt relationship, I've seen people comment that Matt gets more points than he deserves. I think Jeremy does that both for him and for Urzilla a few times to sort of keep them from trailing far behind.
Although series 1 is not as good, I might have loved series 2 a lot less if I started with it.
Yeah, Jeremy (the taskmaster) is for me by FAR the weakest part of TM NZ, he doesn't really do banter much, shuts down funny moments more than the others, and his judging decisions are the ones i most disagree with, but especially this season is still incredible because of the cast.
100% he's like a personality black hole as the Taskmaster, which is such a shame given how amazing everyone else is. Particularly Paul. I'd love to see Paul with Greg for a one off.
In a way I’m glad he’s not trying to be Greg but yeah I wish they got someone like the TM AU “Greg”
@@stackels97 It's honestly a bit sad, because it really plays a big part in the enjoyment of a series; my sister only watched a few episodes of season 1 of NZ, and then stopped, because she didn't like Jeremy and absolutely despised the 'comedy' from Pauls brother.
Jeremy is shiate. But the rest, starting with this season, is SO good, it actually makes up for him. Somehow.
@@stackels97 You wouldn't think it but i believe he has the most broadcasting complaints ever in New Zealand for saying outrageously offensive things in interviews, all with totally deadpan delivery. I think the issue is that he's toned it down for TM.
Matt Heath is so annoying in this series. I enjoy the rest of the cast, though. The Taskmaster isn’t anywhere as good as Greg but I enjoy their version of Little Alex Horne
