    Jeremy Wells may be a bit dry but I have to say I absolutely love Paul Williams as the taskmaster's assistant

    They didn't do a lot of testing on the squirting task because it was meant to be a tiebreaker, but they forgot to put a time limit on it, so instead of everybody smacking it like Urzila, we had all these crazy elaborate contraptions and it basically got promoted.

    Now you see the brilliance of David Correos..
    And this episode really illustrates Guy, Urzilla and Laura's brands of insanity too. They're such an amazing cast.

      Really a top season. The Taskmaster being dull doesn't detract from it even.

  • @TheFloon

    The literal one thing that detracts from making this the best season of all time to me is Jeremy as Taskmaster. His scoring is...interesting.

    There's a reason David is pretty much one of everyone's favourite contestants on any Taskmaster, and you're starting to see why.

    For me, this episode cemented David as one of the TM contestants for the ages.
    I mean, stripping naked in under 12 seconds, climbing those rafters and drinking sunscreen. If that isn’t commitment and entertainment, I don’t know what is.

  • @lolake7594
    @lolake7594 Před 15 dny +2

    Fun fact: the sunscreen task was meant to be a tiebreaker, but be amuse there wasn’t a time limit everyone had different approaches, making it a full-length task.
    Plus, it had the conclusion to the Brussels sprout journey

      Whole-heartedly agree. David gets a lot of the plaudits and I get that. He has the broad, loud anarchic comedy style that translates (a bit like early Johnny Vegas), but Guy is naturally dry and funny doing very little. On the other end of the spectrum, while Urzila is amusing in the tasks, I find her about as funny as a violent anal fissure.

    Guy Montgomery is a bit of a wild card, in many situations, but I have to give him respect for his podcast work on 'The Worst of Idea of All Time' (Guy and a friend watch and review the same [bad] film every week for a year) and also 'Till Death Do Us Blart' (Guy, Tim and the McElroy brothers from 'My Brother,. My Brother and Me' watch and discuss 'Paul Blart Mall Cop 2' every year for American Thanksgiving).

    One of the best eps. David's equal measures of sweetness and anger are always a delight to behold 🙂I'm wondering if you are warming to The Taskmaster himself? I never had an issue with his dry demeanour and thought he's a good fit, but it seems many people haven't taken to him.

    The transform the room one is just so classically Taskmaster - reminds me a lot of the "Dramatically Alter Your Appearance in a Lift" from 7x4 (UK).
    As funny as the eventual resolution was, I can't agree with the scoring of the Brussel Sprout one. The task called for the Brussel Sprout to float "down from the balcony", David's went up so should have been disqualified.

    The judging of the darkness task is one of the prime examples for my dislike of the taskmaster, I mean, EVERYONE saw that David deserved the five points, and he decided on ONE??

    • @DylanSargesson
      @DylanSargesson Před 15 dny +1

      If this was on the UK version, I could see Greg giving him less than 5 points because he didn't really transform "the room" - but it definitely wouldn't have been 1 point.
      He would have also massively used that as an excuse to berate Alex for not executing the task properly (instead of allowing the Assistant to blame it on some unknown light guy)

  • @JBLoveSav
    @JBLoveSav Před 15 dny +5

    Jeremy is straight TERRIBLE at assigning points here. He does get better, but there’s a lot of grimaces first.

    • @AdamfromFWCI
      @AdamfromFWCI  Před 15 dny +5

      I still think its because they slightly map out the scores before the tapings start. People say its all 100% legit, but I would be shocked if thats true

    • @ElectricFury
      @ElectricFury Před 15 dny +3

      That's one thing that really makes him lacking compared to Greg for me. Greg often will rank them in a way I disagree with but he always articulates his reasoning very well, whereas Jeremy kind of just lists the order he's put them in and moves on with barely a word.

    • @JBLoveSav
      @JBLoveSav Před 15 dny

      @@AdamfromFWCII dunno, man. Maybe. But I think it’s more likely he’s improvising “corrections”. Like giving points to someone he realizes he screwed before. I think he’s pretty transparently insecure tbh. He settles in. Paul helps him.

    • @DylanSargesson
      @DylanSargesson Před 15 dny

      @@AdamfromFWCI In the UK version sometimes I think you can tell when Greg has gone against some of those mappings or when he messes with the scores that Alex expected at all. Especially whenever he doesn't just give 5-4-3-2-1.
      That's why there has to be a good split between objectively judged tasks and subjectively judged tasks

    • @Missy-24
      @Missy-24 Před 15 dny +5

      @ElectricFury I read comments from people who've been at the live tapings that he gives a lot more arguments for his points, but the tv version chooses to cut out more from them in order to fit the allotted time. Apparently they have an extra ad break in NZ. It makes Jeremy look bad but I think it's the right choice. Much better than cutting the really hilarious bits, the video tasks.

  • @Harbinger1978
    @Harbinger1978 Před 15 dny +1

    The issue with TM NZ, is they got almost everything right. The location is great, Paul nailed Horne's off-kilter style and the task design is so good our version actually takes and adapts a few of them. The comedic voice is very close to UK version too, probably owing to some sort of shared small-island-syndrome. But the Taskmaster IS AWFUL!!!!! Literally the worst of any international version (bar US). It's baffling that the producers can nail everything and make such a blatant misstep.

  • @edbad85
    @edbad85 Před 15 dny +2

    Great series. Just a shame the taskmaster himself is unlikeable, unfunny and awful at scoring
