    In my humble opinion I don't think it's necessary to feel the trail. I totally disagree. Feedback to the wheel does nothing but tire you out after hours of riding. Diminishing this is one of the benefits of P/S

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM Před 7 lety

      I assume you then also don't think it's a benefit to 'feel' the road in your car. Some people just drive and some people enjoy driving. Many years in race cars and performance cars has taught me the enjoyment and performance gains in feeling the road and ground. But it is not for all - obviously by the over-powered steering on most new machines.

    my wife bought a 2017 kawy 750.i didnt think i would like it as much as my 800r outlander.after riding it on two trail rides i am thinking of trading in the can am. better ride,down low power ,and just an all around better handling machine.the onle thing i have a problem with is the racks.not enough tie downs.

    well I showed up at the dealership today with my check book and test road the brute force and grizzly around the track they had on sight at the dealer and I made the big purchase. The brute force came home with me and I never looked back at the grizzly. The grizz had great handling and brakes, soft seat, power steering was a little weaker feeling than the brute. The brutes power and all around feel sold it. Came home and road about 8miles on the new brute and I am very happy with the purchase. It sounds very good and I like the two compartments-netting by the handle bars. I thought it would sit to high but when you ride it that all goes away. That low end grunt is pretty awesome. grizz has to be moving to get some power out of it.

  • @dankruger2890
    @dankruger2890 Před 7 lety

    After doing more research, do you think the handle bars are to low and seat to high. when I sat on the brute force at the dealer it felt weird. other people mentioned on you tube about it to. Maybe I am just used to Polaris and its no big deal. Yes I want throttle response, thats why I am considering a brute force. The grizzly feels better to me when I sit on it at the dealer, but I want power(TORQ) to make me smile. kinda like you was saying about hitting the throttle on the brute force. I dare you not to punch it.. Well, I want to punch it all the time and smile the whole time.

    Couldn't agree more, where is that 50" ....Yamaha.....i.e. middle of the road between sport and utility..... till it shows up I'll never see a reason to have a side by side, which is a bummer because they could make a killing off a machine like that. There is a huge market for it of people like me who will never buy a Polaris and want to buy the Honda but it's a farm and ranch machine, not a trail machine.

    • @Bowstringdotcom
      @Bowstringdotcom Před 7 lety

      I also will say that when I saw the rack on the back of the Pioneer I thought that was the best idea ever part of the problem with the sport machines is that my ATV has more cargo room... the Honda rack is Ultra wide and capable for hauling your crap, elk, deer, gear, whatever, but those seats would suck if you're riding for now than 10 minutes..... again.... Yamaha.... where are you? Stop hiding please..... I'm trying to come up with ways to make a Rhino 700 50" wide....

  • @dankruger2890
    @dankruger2890 Před 7 lety

    I think your review was right on. Polaris is big-heavy and setup for the guy looking to haul a lot of weight or tow. quality is lacking, but not enough for me to buy a Japanese machine unless I was riding all the time and riding it hard. being I am a 300lbs guy and ride on gravel roads-light trails and think about hauling a deer-elk out of the wood some day. The Polaris is the perfect setup for me. there might be a day when I have to ride down a skidder trail and haul a deer to the road and hp-torq will be needed

  • @dankruger2890
    @dankruger2890 Před 7 lety

    Great review. I took it all in. It is so much fun having a lot of atv' brands to choose from when making a decision to buy a wheeler. I find it very interesting what people like and dislike. Its so hard to give a review when a atv can be used for so many different things. Personally I look for comfort-ease of ride and then storage-hauling ability. Mainly using my atv for hunting and family trail riding. I need to haul on a family trail ride, chairs, cooler, big bag for cloths, guns, gas can and safety gear. when hunting I bring pretty much the same thing except I need steel line so I can wench a deer-elk up a hill If needed and haul it to camp. So a big bore is a must and hauling capacity is very important. Its mazing how much power(hp) you need when hauling a deer up a hill. When hunting we do go places that are to small for a side by side. So I bought a 05' Polaris mv700 and it is perfect. I love the comfort and how it takes more throttle to take off and the one break lever. But I can also see why someone wouldn't like though feature if they ride in rough trails and need more control of the machine.

  • @dankruger2890
    @dankruger2890 Před 7 lety

    The marketing of atv is crazy to me. I know its all about making money. compromise at every turn to cut costs and make an affordable machine. Don't change a thing if it works. Japanese make well built machines, but won't give us extra hp engines. Polaris and Can Am need to refine quality, but really make a nice designed machine for comfort and feel.

    No doubt this IS going to be our next purchase. I sold off my last atv and we already have one sxs now but it is pure utility. It's a Kubota RTV 1120d model..Great work machine so no complaints at all. But after having it for a couple of years I am thinking its time for something more "in between" good for work and odd jobs as well as plowing snow, and more fun on the trails with a lot more power. I have always been a big fan of the Kawasaki V Twin engine...heck they started the multi cylinder atv craze! My old Prairie 700,,,2005 model,,,still runs like a top to this day to the man I sold it to 7 yrs. ago...No it doesn't look nearly as nice as it was when I owned it but it has really taken a beating from his kids and relatives etc...and it still purrs! That's good enough info for me on how reliable a Kawasaki Vtwin and drivetrain is for sure. I looked at the new Defender as well...I do not like to brand bash but I do not care for that make as much as good old Kawasaki. Polaris I overlooked the Ranger series altogether as I have fixed just way to many of those to be a coincidence for friends...Yeah I have driven plenty and they are a smooth ride,,I will give them that...thanks for the real truth and unbiased reviews that you do..

    I bought a used 2007 Suzuki KQ 450 and it's a fantastic ATV. I upgraded to larger 27" tires (no lift kit required) and installed EPI clutch kit for CVT. Drives great on trails! Clutch kit really woke this machine up. I prefer old school manual shift, but this KQ cvt does work well. Nyrocatv site has great mods and handy fixes for these quads. No regrets buying a KQ.

    oh ya, and seat comfort compared to other machines. I like comfort for those 5 hour rides. I would like to get the most comfort and I know 3 hours into a ride the seat changes on you compared to when you first sit on it on the show room floor. Like my Yamaha works great at first and then it starts pulling my back compared to my older Polaris that is simply comfortable through the whole ride, but lacks refinement of modern machines. But maybe my older Polaris is just perfect and I need to just be happy with what I got, because nothing else will make me happier.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM Před 7 lety

      The stability is great but remember that these machines (as well as the King Quad and Grizzly) come stock with really cheap and flexible tires that adversely affect the handling and stability. A good set of tires will really make the machine. We remove the sway bar and run our tires at a low PSI for the best handling and ride. With that said, nothing will be a soft riding as a Polaris. Most of that is the seat foam which I've always thought could be an option...

  • @dankruger2890

    could you include seat comfort, tippyness and how well the power steering handles hitting blunt objects in your reviews. I hit a stump today with my old machine without power steering and it shook me up and now I want power steer, but the power steering has to protect me against sudden stumps and rocks, ripping the handle bars out of my hands.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM Před 7 lety

      The BF and King Quad have the best power steering in my opinion. Not overpowered like the Polaris, but just enough to make the steering feel right, like I always say, it's just like you are stronger and younger :-) It is very effective as a stabilizer.

    my bushing in my wife's 2015 850 touring has play in it too, very annoying. Makes it feel cheep for a expensive machine. when it comes to power, it was very impressive almost to the extent I couldn't believe it. she's happy with her machine. it does get great fuel economy when she rides it. When I got on it not so much.

  • @dankruger2890
    @dankruger2890 Před 7 lety

    a little bit of extra power.... my wife just got a 2015 850 touring and she let me ride it and I was blow away by the power that thing had when you wanted it. sure you can drive it slow and it handles great, but if you give it full throttle it takes off right now and freak me out. to the point of unbelief that there is a atv that fast. Guess I must be getting old and used to 700's in the mid 2000's Yes, the power was very controllable and the handles worked great, but no one, on any of these review express what kind of power these 850 have. Does the newer Brute Force 750 and Grizzly 700 have that kind of power as the 850's have? my wife really likes the 850 and never once expressed to me how much power it had, so if you ride it slow it go's slow and doesn't give that impression of crazy amount of power.

    BEST review I ever listened to. I used to owned a 05 king quad 700 and your a 100% right on everything. Now I own a 2005 Polaris mv700 because I like the size(carrying capacity) of that machine for what I do. Hunting and slow easy trail riding. Deep down I know the Suzuki is the best machine made on the market to date hands down in every way. Suzuki doesn't cut corners on quality and made a utility atv machine that makes sense. Its great to go on You Tube and actually get a REVIEW. Keep up the good work

    any opinion or thoughts on why Kawasaki fell so far behind on motorsport production?? I mean now a days there's only the brute force 300 and 750. it's sad really

      The current market is extremely weighted towards UTVs (SxSs). Not only do they sell more side by sides than ATVs but their profit margin is bigger....

    I'd always go for Honda reliability over Polaris. Most people on the forums complain of many repairs over a couple years, some amounting to many thousands of dollars with the RZR. Maybe with the Honda find A more comfortable aftermarket seat and call it good enough. I'd be more worried about the power with the Honda. Can it go up a hill with a full load comfortably? I see in this other video the suspension is pretty bad on the Honda. Looks like a bucking jarring ride! Maybe some aftermarket arms and shocks would be necessary. czcams.com/video/m0oIM0AuhHA/video.html

      While the Honda is INDEED far more reliable it is also much less comfortable and far less powerful. It really comes down to what you want and what you are willing to put up with. Better shocks will help considerably and we are working with Progressive suspension to come up with a reasonably priced set of better dampers, but there is really no good fix for increased power. I see many people more than please to putt along the trails in their Pioneers. I personally still can find a machine with the looks, power and comfort of a RZR with the reliability of a Honda. There is no justice..... Where is the Suzuki Trail King 750?

      That's such a conundrum! I think for me I'd still want to be in the reliable Honda. Nothing worse than breaking down, I hate it so much. I'm bitter though because when I was a teenager I saved every penny I had and got a used (few years old) YZ125 and it broke every second ride! At least I could walk that home in most cases. So I'd hope for an upgrade from Progessive suspenion that would improve the ride and just live with the power as is. I did see a video of the Pioneer 500 pulling a RZR and also dragging a large tree down a road. Looks like becuase of the real gear box and very torque biased gear ratios that it can do OK pulling/towing wise for a small UTV. As for top speed I'm never ripping in a trail anyway. I just need a more cushy ride.

      I agree. If we could just get a little better shocks and maybe even pad the seat a bit more...

    I just can't figure out why people don't like the braking. are 2015 Polaris 850 touring has great brakes, very predicable and precise.

      Many people prefer to also be able to control the front and rear brakes separately.

    Do you recall how much fuel the Honda used? That rather smallish gas tank they have is one of my hangups before buying one.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM Před 7 lety

      It took less than the tank (smaller) while the BF used a full tank (bigger). But I carry extra fuel just to be safe.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 Před 7 lety

      All my experiences with Honda Boat motors and ATV's showed me they are always the most fuel efficient so I'm not surprised that the Pioneer 500 burned less.

      I have the same experience with all Honda things being very effecient, Honda claims 4.1 gallon with a 1.1 gallon reserve. I was just trying to get an idea of what that equates to in terms of time or distance. Especially since Polaris gives their 570 rzr 7+ gallons and the 900 rzr almost 10 gallons.

    Now, I was thinking about getting these for my Polaris scrambler 850. And i heard people say that if you put a bigger tire then stock you will break the axles, now in this case are these tires so aggressive that if I punch the throttle I break my axles or burn a belt or should I be just fine? Also from a 1-10 rating 1 being the worst and 10 being the best what would you guys rate them? (Or anybody else who has or is owning these tires)

    I have owned one of these for about 12 years now. I pull it offset behind a 2185 cadet with ag tires on it and 4' deck. I mow about an acre and a half with it . I have about 15 large pine trees and several hardwoods to mow around as well. I am covering 9' in one pass. Bettter for me than zero turn. trail mower goes under the trees, I don't. Tried it a little behind atv. All I have a sport quads. Didn't have much luck. If grass isn't too wet It will keep up with the cadet at top speed. Have replaced belt 2 times in 12 years. Have raised it up high and mowed barn lot with it. When I do something like that I usually set the tractor about 2" higher and pull it inline. If I let my yard get away from me I also pull it inline. My only real complaint is that the paint started falling off from day one. no matter that I cleaned it off and parked inside. I personally think these don't get the recognition they should for pulling with lawn tractor. But I don't find them too practical for use with atv. Neighbor has a 44" he pulls with utility atv to mow a rough one acre barn lot and it is much more suited for that purpose. I do suggest ag tires on the lawn tractor if you have banks and hills. I made a swivel out of on old heavy duty caster (removed wheel) and welded it tongue instead of ball hitch. That way I can run with trail mower over side of banks with tractor on flat and no binding at hitch pin. When you grew up pulling a discbine behind a farm tractor over a 1000+ acres a year getting use to it is a snap.

    If Polaris thinks they will push Forrest service in all these jurisdictions they continue to give the finger to their customers and dealers. Too bad... they make an incredible product. We own an 800 and a WC Trail. Want to buy a 900 but cant. They will not fit through the gates in Colorado. Polaris.. thanks for screwing up our hard fought relationships with FS and making more work for those of us who work so hard to keep trails open.

    I like the brake lever on the left side owned a 700 king quad and Yamaha big bear and I couldn't stand the front brake on the right handle bar wear the throttle is. its so much simpler to have the brake on the left hand bar. I love my 700 Polaris, very comfortable, and easy to operate on open logging roads and trails. good for hunting and recreation

    • @ATVTVCOM

      Sadly, as we dumb down the controls for a machine we also dumb down what is required to operated a dangerous and potentially dangerous machine.

  • @dankruger2890
    @dankruger2890 Před 7 lety

    I disagree with a lot of what your saying. I like the brakes on the left side only. My Yamaha has the front break lever on the right throttle hand and it is hard for me to use because of the throttle. Polaris doesn't sit to high for today standards. just have to ride different. I would rather have ground clearance and comfortable riding suspension than fast low center corning. because I aint trying to go that fast to roll my machine, but I am going to ride it over smaller rocks and little trees. For ease of use on trails its good for a rookie rider that only uses his machine 5 to 10 times a year for hunting or logging road trail riding. the Polaris has the best control and ease of use and practical suspension. If you want to race around all crazy like, one might get something different. Polaris is setup for the average guy looking to trail ride, go hunting or work around the property. I love the 4x4, brakes, ride comfort and towing-hauling of my Polaris 700

    This is a great little quad. Works well on my heavily wooded property because of it's size. Power to weight ratio is good, lots of torque with a good belt in it. It's a joy to ride and very versatile. I also have an '08 Sportsman 500 HO EFI, I often opt for the Hawkeye 300 for in the woods.
