    Nice!
    I went with a Honda Pioneer 1000 but down deep wish I had gone with the Defender instead. The one that I test drove also had a very stiff shifter. The sales guy that brought it out had so much trouble that he just left it in Neutral instead of shifting back to Park when he brought it out to me. :)
    I also noticed the on I tested getting hotter than I thought it should. It did not overheat but the temp gauge was only one bar away from "full" during the 30 min or so of slow driving I was doing on the test track. I am not sure if it needed to be "burped" or if it just needs more air movement.
    I really, really liked the seats and the quietness of it as well as all the storage.
    Thanks for the review. You are almost the only one on all of CZcams.
    Definitely looking forward to your 1,000 mile report.

    I think the CanAm is more dependable than the Polaris. I know the CanAm Engines are ROCK SOLID!

      You are correct. Love our can ams, will never go back to a polaris.

    I would also really like a review from you comparing the defender vs the honda pioneer 1000, 3 seater since the defender is a 3 seater. I would really like to know which is faster and handles closest to a sport type sxs.
    If Polaris wasn't such a pile, (very high maintenance, not very reliable) that would be a perfect fit for me. I would love to see a few races of the two, honda and can am. Thanks

    To fix your stained seat use tire foam spray, pretty much any kind. Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe them down with a micro fiber cloth until dry. It will make them look like new and makes them much easier to wash off next time.

      Thanks. Next time this happens I'll give it a try. Also found something I used on a car called 'Back to Black'. It's a shame it has to work this way. You have to read the PR statement or you don't get a machine to test. Every time we've said something negative about a machine the manufacturer stops sending us units to test. It makes sense on their end but sad for all of us.

      I've used back to black a few times and found it worked pretty well too. One of the better products for ATV's, in my opinion of course, is Turtle Wax Wet n Black. It comes in spray or foam. I like the spray better. You can spray it on a microfiber cloth and wipe it on all plastic ATV panels. It restores faded color very well. I sprayed some on my friend's old 97 jet ski and he couldn't believe how rich the colors came out on it. I use it on my Commander all the time. It makes the water bead off the machines like it does on a waxed car.
      I agree it's a shame it works that way with PR. That's why I take online reviews with a grain of salt. I like to watch different ones, and research the online forums as well. Consumers have become dumb down by marketers. I'm glad you tell like it is but it's disappointing that it has affected your ability to get new machines to test. Like you said, I can understand brand owners not being happy about product issues being brought up, but they should address them especially when you consider the amount of money people are paying for those machines.

    I've yet to get in one as my dealership is ordering these for people & can't keep them in the showroom (good problem for them to have I guess). I want one but I'm 6'4" 260lbs and wear a size 15 boot. how much room will I have and will my wife and son be comfortable next to me?
    Thanks for the input!

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 7 lety

      At your size, your wife and son better be pretty small to fit. I highly suggest you go sit in one!

    • @gregrowe1168
      @gregrowe1168 Před 7 lety +1

      You can fit 3 people in one of these, a Ranger 1000 or Pioneer 1000 but the 3rd person will always be uncomfortable unless everyone is small. Its like cramming 3 people in the backseat of a compact car. It can be done but its a tight fit.

    Doug, what's ur druthers, Defender or Ranger for the money?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 7 lety +2

      Defender. Ranger (lack of) reliability would worry me.

      I guess I know why I cant find any videos of ranger xp 900 or 1000 on your channel. I'm surprise you would say the ranger is unreliable when you own a razor. I would think the quality and there fore reliability would be equal. Could you elaborate on your opinion. I'm in the market for a sxs.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 7 lety

      Sorry about the very late reply. Sometimes the comments just never come up in a timely manner. Yes I own a RZR but it's because there is no alternative. I have done everything I can think of to help its reliability but it is still no Honda or Kawasaki.

    Wonder if you'll ever get a honda pioneer 1000-5? interested in how you would set it up.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 7 lety

      Still hoping but rather not get one over the winter months as I just wouldn't use it nearly as much when it's so cold...

    • @crowhunter6974
      @crowhunter6974 Před 7 lety

      You should get one in winter. It has a built in "heater". Riding it around in the summer will run you out of the cab.

    • @terrplmb
      @terrplmb Před 7 lety

      Crow Hunter you've obviously never ridden in a commander. You can't complain about something if you have zero experience with any other makes or models.

    • @crowhunter6974
      @crowhunter6974 Před 7 lety

      I haven't been in a Commander but I do own a Pioneer and it is way hotter in less time than a Defender gets and significantly hotter than a Polaris RZR. It is way noisier than a Defender. The clutch judders starting on any type of a hill and the mode select apparently needs continuous adjustment since I just got back from taking mine around the yard and it won't stay in 2WD, again...
      This will be the 3rd time that I have had to adjust the cables since July to the service manual specs because the cables stretch just sitting in the garage...
      This is leaving out the potential for catastrophic clutch failure and the need to snorkel it because splashing water will get sucked into the intake and drown the engine.
      If I could do it over again, I would have definitely purchased something else.

    • @terrplmb

      I've got close to 2000 miles on mine and I've owned several other sxs's. overall it blows a commander and teryx away in heat. And reliability. sorry you have had adjustment issues. they all have a "little " shudder , nature of the beast with real gears and clutches. I would never ever go back to the other brands. no need to.
