    I'm going to buy a side by side one day. You guys really help me with trying to decide which one to get. Good video.

    Looks like an interesting machine. I have always been surprised/impressed by the mpg of the can ams

      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      Me too! I don't know how they do it compared to the V-Twin Kawasaki's or especially the Polaris..

    I am looking to purchase a Can-Am Defender XT in the next day or two. When you stated it cost 15,699 was that for the Can-Am DPS or was that for the XT with winch, top and upgraded guages?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      Yes, the HD10 XT is the upgrade package. But, as always, your dealer may very well make you a better deal than retail price.

    Is this the same class as a polaris general? Also are you going to review a general. I am starting my shopping process for a summer 2017 purchase. I really value your opinion on machines.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      This is considerably bigger with a bit more bent toward utility - bigger bed, easier in and out, etc. Plus it's more reliable.

  • @crowhunter6974
    @crowhunter6974 Před 8 lety

    Excellent, I am glad you are reviewing this. No one seems to be riding these things on trails that I can find. I would be using it for mostly trail riding with just some work around the house/farm so I have been leaning towards the Yamaha Wolverine, but it is a little on the loud side and it doesn't have a large bed capacity or dump capability. The Defender seems to have a lot of things going for it. Since you have taken it on at least 200 miles of trails, how is the ride, noise and heat? Thanks! Love your videos.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +2

      The Defender has amazed me with it's smoothness and quietness. There is no heat that transfers to the cab but on one particularly hot day the engine seemed to run warmer than I thought it should - but is was slow and the weather was hot!

    • @crowhunter6974
      @crowhunter6974 Před 8 lety

      Thanks! How is the suspension on trails? Can you compare it to something? As good as or better than or worse than say a Teryx or some other unit.
      I am planning to go and test drive one this weekend but their test track only has railroad ties covered in gravel for obstacles. While better than a parking lot, it really isn't the same as off camber hill climbing with bumps. I tried the same course with a Teryx and a Honda P1000 and the Teryx beat the Honda hands down in this department. Plus the Honda was very loud and very hot for only a 10 min drive.
      I appreciate what you do!

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      Very plush. Better (to me) than the T2 or P1000. Seats not as comfortable as the T2. Like the trail storage better on the T2. Love the cabin layout on the Defender with all the little storage things. 2 inches too wide for the 60" trails around the Paiute Trail area. Hopefully have a new T4 and a P1000 coming soon for comparison but probably too late for you ;-)

    I think the HD is Can-Am's pure utility. The Commander bridges the gap between the HD and the Maverick , like the General bridges the gap between the Ranger and the RZR

  • @wildbill23c
    @wildbill23c Před 8 lety +1

    I'd love to hear some more updates on the Commander. May be in the market soon, and kind of up in the air whether to go with the Can-Am Commander or the Polaris Ranger 900.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      One thing I can say is that I'm far less worried about the Defender's reliability than I am a Ranger - even more so with all the recent RZR recalls.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c Před 8 lety

      ATVTV Any plans of doing some heavy duty towing/hauling with the Defender? This is the type of stuff that I'd want to know as a utility machine buyer. I could care less what tires fit, what lift it should have, or how fast its maximum speed is, I want it to tow/haul and get into and out of hunting areas where the terrain isn't very friendly LOL.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      Yup. That's more how I'll be using it. Hope to even tow a Little Giant tent trailer up into the mountains...

    is the belt system any better than the polaris ? thanks Doug

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      Incredibly better! Polaris has arguably the worst belt drive system.

    • @Adam_Newman
      @Adam_Newman Před 8 lety

      +ATVTV yes ! I have a friend has the Yamaha wolveine & the belt system seems great on it ! Over 2100 miles & no issues,

    What is the largest size tire that can be put on the Can-Am?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      We haven't tried anything bigger than the 27s but I'm guessing 28 for sure and maybe a 30.

    So Doug you said there really isn't a sxs that you can do work with and then right afterwards head up a trail comfortably.....you don't think the 2-seater Teryx is capable of both in the manner your speaking of?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      The T2 is a good compromise, as is the Honda Pioneer 1000 but neither of them have the capacities that the Defender has for hauling and towing. They lean more towards a good trail machine that can do work. The Defender seems to be a work machine that can still trail....

    • @br5495
      @br5495 Před 8 lety

      +ATVTV I agree with that. I'd like to see kawasaki make a 1000 myself. Thanks for the reply and the reviews you guys do a great job imo.

    • @crowhunter6974
      @crowhunter6974 Před 8 lety

      I will say in my experience on just a test track that the Pioneer 1000 is a definite try before you buy. On an identical obstacle course I tested a 2016 LE Teryx 2 seater and a Honda Pioneer 1000 (with a hard top, cab and front windscreen) and the Teryx was hands down better. The Honda's suspension was very stiff and noticeably jarring on the articulation obstacle. It had an ear piercing gear whine even at idle and even with only 10 minutes of use it felt like someone was blowing a hair dryer on my nether regions at only 10 MPH.My wife said absolutely no way the Teryx was hands down the better machine.I am very interested to see what the Defender is like this weekend.

      +Crow Hunter I don't own a teryx I know a lot of people that do and love'em and they're perfect for our type of riding/work around the house. The Defender has some cool features tho. I especially like how the glove box doubles as a tool box or even a tackle box for that matter.

    I just got a honda 1000-5 and am amazed by how quiet it is and smooth, I bet this is nice but doesn't have the 5 seats in a short wheelbase. can't wait to see what you think of it or the honda.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      That's one of the things I love about the Pioneer - 5 seats and a short wheelbase!

    Is the can-am or the Polaris the better buy

    • @ATVTVCOM

      The Can Am is considerably more reliable.

  • @samuelowen

    Would be a good comparison to the Honda 1000 Pioneer.

  • @O2MEND

    Top speed?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      We never measure top speed as it can vary so much depending on conditions - road surface, air temperature, altitude, tires!

    • @O2MEND
      @O2MEND Před 8 lety

      I suppose it would have been better to ask if the machine is governed like some are.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      Ahhh, and to that I have to say that they say there are 3 keys to the Defender, a work key governed at 25mph, and standard key governed at 44mph, and a performance key with no speed limits.

    • @O2MEND
      @O2MEND Před 8 lety

      Thanks for that info.
