That’s just the electronic limit though. And, we found out the speedo calibration was off, so the wheels weren’t actually spinning as fast as we thought. -Paul

We haven't tested the D-series at all, but looking at the specs the D28 has a much larger battery than the F25 for the same price and they both have the same motor power spec. We haven't reviewed the F25. It failed our 10% hill climb test with a 165lb rider (me). -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide i really recommend you to try the pro version i don't really know the difference between the regular and the pro i got the pro about a month ago and it's one of the best e scooters of the price range. I work as a sales assistant on a local shop that sells electronics i have tested a lot of them but the nineboot E2 pro is the best of them.

This is a really great subject, and where my background in physics comes in. One of the strange and cool things about weight and top speed, is that weight has almost no direct effect on top speed! It just affects how long it takes to get up to speed. The top speed is when power output = drag. Drag is wind resistance plus rolling resistance. Rolling resistance is only impacted a tiny bit by weight, especially if tire pressure is at maximum. But where weight comes into play is that heavier riders have a larger wind profile. If we could make a heavier rider as aerodynamic as a smaller rider then the top speed would be super close.... provided a long enough runway for the heavier rider to finish accelerating (since that would still take longer). I love this stuff. :-) -Paul

It's amazing how long the idea has been around. I guess it never really caught on last time. Let's hope scooters have more staying power this time. I think future improvements on batteries will make electric scooters much more popular. When we can get twice the range from the same weight or half the weight for the same range! -Paul

We’re so glad we finally started doing this testing. We just did top speed of Phantom V3 vs V4 and also 235lbs vs 165lbs. The results were sort of what we expected there. Top speed wasn’t very different (2mph = 5%) if you have a long enough runway. But acceleration times are waaaaay different! -Paul

This is a great subject. I think you’re right about motor winding being important. What I think we’ll find as we do more range tests like this is that some scooters are going to be operating much less efficiently with larger riders, so matching the rider to the right scooter (the right motor) is important for efficiency! -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Hey can I also recommend you start mentioning the watt hours of a battery along with amp hours as watt hours is a more accurate way to compare battery size because it takes into account the voltage. Using only amp hours allows the situation where a 36 volt 10amphour battery seems the same size as a 48 volt 10amphour battery. Ride ride ride!

Unagi is the very closest to this! Their app lets you input your weight and whether you’re riding hills or flat and then it looks at what mode you’re using and calculates the remaining range. They can do this accurately because they rent their scooters by the month and the app (anonymously) tracks battery usage vs miles and uses that data to help refine the predicted range. -Paul

We miss Dualtron. Ever since Voro Motors started closing out their Dualtron supply, we’ve lost our Dualtron connection. We hope to get back to covering them. -Paul

Aw I was wondering why you guys haven’t really covered them in a while. I hope so too! They’re doing some interesting things making some more budget options, I haven’t seen anything like the Popular (dual motor, small, classic dualtron lighting) for the price. And Rovoron Kullter (although sold out now) had some insane value with a 60v 31.5ah LG battery, 45mph, tubeless tires, all for $999-$1300 (sale price changed).

Small Ah scooters rock small chargers. Charge time is still totally reasonable. -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Smallest one I saw was 1.8 A on 3 years old scooter. KTM Bosch ebike form 2018 have 6A fast charger and smaller battery than this scooter.

I wish it wasn’t real. We would have blurred the plate. I commute across the Bay Bridge via motorcycle, and I ride for work, so I wear full gear even at 25mph because getting hurt means no videos for a while, and we can’t have that. -Paul (the guy on the scooter)

I’d love to see two direction speed runs on those. Please share links if you’ve seen anyone do them. The Slack Core has the best two direction speed test I’ve seen, but it’s technically not using the same piece of pavement for its opposite direction run. -Paul

We haven’t tested the Kugoo scooters, but the NIU scooters are super high quality scooters and have a two year warranty, so of those two I’d go NIU. -Paul

Where are you located? Could it be a regional limit? Are the wheels on your display blinking? If you watch our first impressions video you’ll see that it took me a minute to figure out the buttons to go faster.

24.4 seconds for the M10 Pro vs 31 for the E2 base model. We haven’t tested the other version of the E2 but with higher top speed we expect it has better hill climbing as well. -Paul
