How good is IP55?
Greetings from Germany! Just preordered the 300P which should be arriving early May, can't wait for your review of the series! Cheers.
I preordered the 300x, 12 of March, it was supposed to arrive early April. Still waiting patiently. Hoping for some compensation for the 1 year delay.
I have the Kqi 2 and love it. The 300x looks awesome and if the quality is the same. I can’t wait!
The tires are bigger than the KQi3 Max. 10.5” vs 9.5” but both have the same width, 2.5”.
Also, AFAIK the max speed is 23.6 mph (38 kmh), not 25 mph but would be nice if true.
The batteries are the same, 48V 13a.
I hope they made it less difficult to access the internals under the “hood”, because with the Max/Pro seems like a tedious process which is even needed to change the rear tire!
I placed the pre-order the same day it went on sale and can’t wait to ride it!
It would be perfect if they add a power limiter in watts and/or a power cruise control via firmware for a steady load on the battery when cruising at a variable speed. The most efficient riding mode.
Love the vid!
This looks awesome. And...ordered!
Enjoy your new ride!
I absolutely love my NIU scooter. KQI Max! Unfortunately I've got an flat tire atm.. Greetings from Germany!
Sorry to hear that
I preordered the first day it was opened.
Yesterday, I got an email with the shipping label.
It’ll probably get here, Florida by Monday🎉
I can’t wait since is my first scooter.
You guys have one for testing yet?
Looking forward for your detailed review, thanks!
We will be reviewing it shortly!
For weight and portability seems the Uscooter GT is still the best buy by far on the market + it didn't look like you were loving the twist throttle on this ( noticed you didn't big it up after the test ride )
Fair enough!
Bought a kqui 3 pro and my roads are way too bumpy. Thinking one of these or the 300p
I wud like to see the rake angle on all scutrestems updayted to 5 to 15 degrees from the previus 20 and 25 degree models with slightly modified handlebar placements and displeys
Noted! Thanks for stopping by.
I actually really liked the thumb throttle on the scoot. Can we just have NIU and Apollo merge. Seems to be best of both worlds for your general commuter scooter.
That would be cool!
A more suitable merge would be Rad Power with Apollo since Rad has the largest eBike store and customer base network in the USA. NIU is from China Rad is based in Seattle, WA.
E-Scooters and E-Bikes are essentially the same.
I also prefer the thumb throttle but the twist handle is not that bad either.
Ultimately there are cheap after market thumb throttles braces that can be easily mounted on the existing twist throttle or be replaced completely with a real one.
This is just a matter of personal preference but the excuse the NIU sales representative gave is lame.
Other manufacturers of ebikes and scooter have fully functional thumb throttles, no problem, like the Apollo Go.
When I get mine 300X I’d probably change the grip handles to a beefier ones, flip the brake levers left-right, move the 4 button controller to the left hand (as ESG noted in the Max review) and if it is posible, install a proper $15 thumb throttle.
Agreed, the thumb throttle is better (if only it was better quality)
Between this and Apollo Air 2023, which one would you recommend. I need to travel just about 5 miles per day. Speed is not a big concern either. Just the comfort of riding and Safety.
Apollo Air. Much lighter and more reliable with less maintenance-intensive drum brakes as opposed to the KQi300's disc brakes.
21mph with the Air is plenty fast for you.
Or if you want more speed the recently announced Apollo go looks great.
@@chaxologist2961- Thanks for the suggestion. Being lightweight is probably as important because most of the time we'll be carrying it.
@@matthewmanzi9504yes but even Apollo stretches my limit. I'm planning to buy it only because it is around $800 right now on sale. Makes it a more sensible decision.
Go with the AIR , small commute , you should have no issues! You can use code RIDERGUIDE for $50 off
Portability will always be more important than high speed for me. I hope Niu focuses on comfort and portability when they make new models.
Niu app has some glitch’s. One you have to continually put the scooter in chill mode as standard is to aggressive. And the current lock feature works but you need to re-lock/ unlock quick to unlock it.
All in all a great scooter for the cost but a bit anoying having to log into the app every ride to adjust setting.
Thanks for the feedback!
How much is the clearance from the groud to the bottom of the deck?
We have not reviewed it fully yet to measure!
Hi do you have a coupon code to use?
Not currently!
Is front or back susepension usually more important?
Both to be honest
From my experience suspension works on bigger bumps. It is good for traction. It does not work on small bumps like cobblestone and rough terran. Bumbs are too close together and suspension does not react that fast. Only thing that works on cobblestone are fat tires. But not a single scooter manufacturer is willing to put those old fat Razor scooters tires on newly built commuter scooters. So on most surfaces, where riding is really uncomfortable, scooter suspension is uselless, and it requires a lot of maintanance.
All the NIU bigger scooters have front fork hydraulic suspension.
This is nothing new for them.
I’m pretty sure NIU knows what they are doing.
But the ultimate judge on that would be users confort level.
Together with the bigger 10.5” x 2.5” tires more likely it will be comfortable enough.
Do you think it is better than Segway Max G2 and why?
Yes we think it’s an upgrade!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Segway Max G2 has two suspensions in the front and rear and the model you showed has only in the front tyre. Isn’t it?
How does this compare to the Apollo Go?
Go is better because of dual motor!
FINALLY a manufacturer with the balls to step away from those stupid thumb throttles. We've been using twist throttles for over 150 years, but all of a sudden we want to reinvent hot water?
Twist throttles are nice, but is it my imagination or is there no rear suspension?
Full review will be coming shortly.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuidewondering if the video will arrive before end of launch sale?
23.7 top speed it says on website, but clearly the guy said 25mph, so which is it?
We will know the accurate specs when we fully test it soon!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thx, I have my finger on trigger for a Kaabo Mantis 10 lite
Why did you say "the battery is full, it powered off halfway thru" ? And the video is clipped... What actually happened?
I'd really like to know before I pre order this lol. It kind of sounds like you had an issue with the event demo.. that would not be a good sign.
Also, their site says the 300x has a loud alarm/horn. Yet the 300p says loud bell. Can you confirm if the 300x has a bell, or an actual horn?
We will have full specs after full review!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide so no comment on it cutting off 1/2 way with a full charge!?!?!
Mileage and distance please!
We will have that after the full review!
Do they make them look ugly on purpose ornis it an accident
👀
never undertstood the part of the throttle... i mean it is more than proven from motorcycles that twist is the best option yet only a few electric scooters are twist throttle... i dont like much of niu, i think their scooters appear to be too "weak" in therms of power, but they do that well... if motorcycles use that type of throttle why not just use it there too... pretty logical if you look at it...
Thanks for stopping by!
Glad Mitch didn’t bust his ass this time.
Why does the website say 20 and 23mph Max speed but this slippery guy say it's 25mph?
We will have official stats when we test!
He also said IP56 but in website it says IP55
@@Moosefelt apparently you can switch it into an off road mode and it'll let you go up to 25. I ordered the 300x so I guess we'll see.. the guy he interviewed at the event was real slippery. Seemed like he didn't do his homework before the show. He was slipping a lot. This video, while being the only one out, was pretty terrible too. It sounds like the demo model cut off on him, yet he won't respond when I asked about it. That and he put a filter on most of the video making all the red accents on the scooter look orange. Also, the site says the 300x has a horn, while the 300p has a bell. Dude wouldn't comment on that either! I think they're in cahoots, not a very open honest trustworthy channel imo
this is the answer to the ninebot max g2.
but i think the g2 is way better
Still needs rear suspension and a find my feature.
No way, this is a cheap 50-60$ amazon suspension. Go for monorim or shark sett suspension to go all out. I'm getting front and rear shark sett suspension for my ninebot max g2
@@donaldtrump4977 but the g2 has a very good suspension.
So no need to Upgrade
@@Felix18769 The turn signals on this are way better on this though, Segway really missed the mark on that. They are like the apollo go, visible from all sides.
Niu wouldn't admit to this but their thumb throttle stuck constantly. It was dangerous. This is the reason why they switch to twist throttle
Thanks for the feedback!
I bought more of the $NIU stock today!
Just learned about NIU's parts availability and repair policies.💩
Their scooters sure have a poor repairability scores which potential buyers should know about.
The 3 major components, Battery, Motor and Controller which are proprietary can't be found anywhere else other than NIU.
They won't sell those parts to the user or even repair shops!
Eventually, any of those parts need replacement so the only option is to ship the scooter to their repair center, be without the scooter for several weeks and pay as much as as new scooter!
Essentially, this make NIU scooters disposable items, hence NOT RECOMENDED.
Not even Apple gets to be so exclusive with their OEM parts and now they even sell repair kits to their smartphone customers! [Right to Repair]
Other scooters have generic or OEM parts that can be purchase directly from the manufacturer or anywhere else. Go for those instead.
After putting more than 100 miles on the 300X I want to bring some issues to your attention and the upcoming review, hoping NIU fix them.
1. The 300X is a good scooter but the way riding modes are indicated is terrible and unsafe, it drives me nuts!
Since the Dynamic riding mode has no explicit, dedicated icon on the dashboard, that mode is indicated by alternating, flashing the E-Save mode and Sport Mode. As a consequence, the rider doesn't know in what mode the scooter is at with a quick glance when driving, you need to stare at the dashboard for few seconds to asses the current mode (unsafe). A possible easy firmware solution would be to borrow the Pedestrian icon to show Dynamic mode and show Pedestrian with its icon + E-Save icon on. Another issue is that Dynamic mode is deactivated after a power cycle, it doesn't remember it.
2. The twist throttle has a dead zone at the first 1/3 of rotation and then acceleration happens abruptly in a narrow range, at the slightest twist, even in Chill acceleration mode, this makes for a unpleasant riding experience plus drains the battery faster in what is otherwise a well rounded package. Other scooters at this level have better acceleration control/customization.
3. A truly regrettable omission which would have made a ton of difference in better riding quality, convenience and safety is the lack of 2 dedicated buttons, which are already there, but disabled!. One for Cruise Control and the other to toggle Riding Modes, just like the Segway P65 has. Unfortunately, this one has no fix but wanted to mention it since is so critical and disappointing to me.
Gosh! NIU was so close to make the best Scooter under $1K but missed by small but consequential details...
I'm looking forward to watch your detailed review and expert opinions.
Keep the good work folks, you guys rock !
Yeah, the-save flashing has been there since the first NIU we tried and still doesn’t make sense!
Thanks so much for the feedback!

Wow that is beyond the pale.
No wonder NIU's NASDAQ stock has been in a free fall.
Great hardware but handicapped by shit that doesn't make any sense.
Still wouldn't stand a chance against the Apollo Go!
The Go seems better in many specs except the 9” tires, it doesn’t have a charging limiter and is $300 more right now.
The KQi300X also has a longer 2year warranty and range. So I’d say both are competitive in this class.
@@alexp9379 The 9 inch tires won't make much of a world of difference compared to 10 inch tires in terms of performance and safety as much as the ease of storage and portability that fits with the Go's frame.
Its the suspension that really does the trick in dampening rough road conditions when both sizes are pneumatic tires.
One can simply extend the Go's warranty to 2 years with just under $200 extra which covers battery defects or deteriorations within that time period.
I'd still admit that the Kqi300X would be much more reliable than the Max G2 with the non-hydraulic suspension because the latter is susceptible to failure and leakage.
To me the Go looks the better package. I’m not worried about the 9 inch tires vs 10 inch, especially with the great travel of their front and rear suspension. Real world range should be about the same, give or take a few miles as the niu has about 9 percent larger battery but not as good of regen braking. power and speed is definitely better in the go and subjectively the go looks nicer. The new Niu looks like a nice option for many though.
Love appollo in theory (having direct control over the regen brake is awesome) but their rough warranty + lack of physical retail stores makes them impossible to justify for me :/
They're both under power just get more powerful scooter!
Testing this in a full review... when?
Keen to see how this compares to say the Segway Ninebot MAX G2 and Kugoo Kirin M3.
Should be soon!
25mph is still too slow you can't keep up in with vehicles will just keep past you by NOT safe too dangerous. At least 30 to 40mph just to keep up with vehicles around you.
Except that speed is illegal in most western nations.
Thanks for the feedback!
25 mph is plenty fast for little used neighborhood streets or streets with a bike lane
