      I had the original, sold it used after 2500km and it showed no signs of quitting! Even rode it in the salty Canadian winters here in Ontario! Was planning to buy the Apollo City Pro at the end of the summer (pro just because I wanted the longer range) but this does everything I wanted out of a Ninebot Max Successor and replacement for me. Just pre-ordered this one through your link. Thanks for everything you guys do in supporting and educating the electric micro-mobility community!

    I love mine! I took it out on a record hot Lincoln, Ne 105 F day. I went 26.6 miles from a full charge riding in sport mode. I only weigh 140 pounds and my scooter did not overheat and managed to stay at least 20 mph until the very end of the ride. When I got back home I had only 7% battery left. Overall I was very impressed and yes this is a great joyriding vehicle!😊

    I bought a Ninebot Max in October 2022. I do live upstairs and I also store my Max under my cubicle desk while at work. So not happy with the weight and size gain, but as a scooter it looks so much better with suspension and bit more speed. If it has the same solid, steady, safe feel my Ninebot has it should be a winner, also I work in product certification so seeing the UL rating on the battery and charger is nice peace of mind when charging.

    I own the original Ninebot Max and now own the much more luxurious Segway P100. I've also owned an Apollo Phantom scooter, which I sold soon after buying it.
    Of the 3 scooters I've owned it's the Ninebot Max I love the most. The riding position is so comfortable. Just about every upgrade in this Segway’s MAX G2 scooter is exactly what I would want as an upgrade to my original MAX scooter. Slightly larger deck, suspension, higher top speed, I get 30KPH (18.6MPH) on my MAX an extra 5KPH on the MAX G2 would be nice. The extra 100W would be nice for hill climbing. I like the wider handlebars and the indicators also, but I would think that your arm would get in the way, therefore block the indicator lights for drivers from behind you.
    On my P100 the indicators flash 5 times before turning off automatically, it doesn't appear that the MAX G2 has this option. I find my P100 scooter goes too fast and I can't resist hitting top speeds, 48KPH (30MPH), I would not want to have an accident at that speed, but 35KPH (22MPH) seems a lot more ideal top speed for fun versus safety option.
    I look forward to at least trying this scooter.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před rokem +5

      Thanks for commenting! You're the first person I've heard from who has a P100. It seems like a mini-GT1, including the self cancelling signals.
      Sounds like we both got the same top speeds on our G30's. You have 18.6 mph and we measured 18.4 which is within our two margins of errors.
      For my height, my elbows are well out of the way of the MAX G2 turn signals. We tried to show that in the video, but didn't quite get the shots I wanted (I wish we would have shot straight on view from the front and back, ideally in traffic). -Paul

      I think a few other segway models have the charge limit feature as well. My E45 has it as well. My E45 will charge to the set percentage, then beep and stop charging. After a while it'll start charging again, then it'll beep again. Does the G2 do this as well? Its super annoying with my E45

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před rokem +2

      It makes sense they would add it across the board where the scooters are capable of it. Was it part of your E45 from the beginning or did it just show up in the app one day?

      Thank you Carlos! I don't think we'll do a head-to-head, so here'a a quick take on the two. The Air was the best handling scooter in this category and possibly best ride quality, but now it's got competition. The Air's front end is about as smooth, and even though the rear of the Air doesn't have suspension it's a surprisingly smooth ride over all. Other things I love about the Air are that it's super super easy to pick up and toss in the trunk. The bars are a little wide, but weight wise: I'm surprised every time I lift it, by how light it is. It also out stops the G2. I love the regen-only brake and it's the main brake I use, other than emergency stops. The new G2, on the other hand is quicker, has longer range and has a lot of new features to get excited over. Both are great scooters. I'd say the main dividing lines are range and weight, and then the Air leans slightly more towards comfort and the G2 surprisingly leans more sporty. -Paul

    I am a heavy rider at 250lbs and 6'4", have to say the G2 works great in my area with lots of hills. Some of the streets are too steep, but there are lots that I can make it up, although be it at the 10-12km speed. We are weekend warriors who just want the scooter for fun, at this price point the limitation on tackling all hills is great for us. Note we first tried the D38U and while it was amazing on flat roads, it had no power to tackle even a small incline at out weight. We were doubtful the G2 would work and were worried we were looking at $2000+CAD price. My only complaint would be the poor warranty, battery, throttle and breaks are only 180 days. Costco carried them in Canada and that may be the best place to purchase if you have issues, easy return.

    The G2 Max pushed it over the top for me. Pair it with the 5a charger and all of a sudden this scooter becomes a whole different beast. It gives you a similar experience of EV's but in PEV form. I own a Vsett 8 w/ 4a charger but even that's not comparable due to the fact that 30mins charge gives you more on the Max. Range on both is the same (27mi). All things considered, the Max G2 actually edges out the Vsett 8.

    I loved my Ninebot Max G30. It had great range, but because it lacked suspension, I had to get rid of it. The roads here are very bumpy at times, and I got seriously bored having to be constantly alert not to drive over bumps and small holes. It actually was dangerous to ride at times, and often I had to drop speed to 15km/h because the ride was so rough. But this G2 seems to improve things. Very interested about this. But why cannot they add some kind of hole or loop to attach locks better? Some scooters have those, and it makes locking much more easier. Great video. Enjoyed watching it :)

      I mean you would probably want to be careful even with good suspension. These things aren't like vehicles where the body has so much mass that they don't have time to really drop, and their mass allows them inertia to keep going forward at the lip of a pothole. But a person on a scooter is just asking to wipe out by going over any bad road. It's not a question of if, but when. Just the right geometry for your wheel to get caught and you're going to have a bad day, even with knee pads and a helmet.

Was thinking I would have to settle for a Fluid Horizon or similar to get the range and speed I'm looking for... But the features here just blow everything else away (if the price holds to around $1000) AND you get the range and speed. Segway brand + App + Zero Start + Turn Signals + Traction Control + Front and Rear Suspension AND Tubeless Air Tires + Smart Battery Charging.... Seems one can't go wrong here.

I am the type where I don't consider that 'nit-picking' at all, and _any_ rattle of *any* kind would drive me absolute bonkers. I had to line the rear fender of my G30P with dynamat to get rid of mine after the very first ride, which I cut short due to how insane it drove me, and I refused to ride it before I could get ride of it completely. Is the rattle on the G2 something that cane be completely removed through similar methods? Is there any kind of rattle from anywhere else, no matter how "subtle", or "small"? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the review Paul! I think the G2 would be good for a certain type of commuter. The lack of folding handlebars and being over 50lbs I think makes it much more difficult for mixed mode commuting. It is much harder to deal with on a train, bus or tight storage situations. I take Caltrain to work when I have to go into the office. I get to watch a wide variety of scooters coming and going from the train. All the handlebar non-folders have problems when the train gets tight and they can't just use another seat to hold their scooter. The handlebar folders can get their scooter small enough to be less cumbersome and can even stow it in the overhead storage area spaces. Brompton bicycles are great for this as well as I watch them on the train and those are amazingly compact. As an experiment I also brought my Mosquito on the train and it was super easy to keep near me without having to take up another seat. I still would prefer to bring my electric unicycle but wanted to see how the Mosquito was in real-world commute scenarios. The G2 would be a pain the ass for that use case along with a variety of other mixed-mode commutes.
    If I am going into the 50+ pound scooter world I would much rather a dual-motor power scooter so I could take advantage of being in the street when possible. Ironically I find it more dangerous to be in bike lanes vs. being in the street and keeping up with traffic. When I was still a primary e-scooter rider having my Dualtrons and Mantis scooters in the street help me avoid all the people blocking bike lanes in addition to being door swiped. There is also just a lot more debris in bike lanes that are rarely in the main street. I think I would rather spend a little extra and either get the new Emove Cruiser or spend a little bit more than that and get a dual motor scooter.

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I was thinking about what the ideal use case for the G2 is and strangely enough it is the scooter-sharing companies. They don't need to worry about being compact for mixed mode commutes and want to keep the speed low enough to help avoid serious injuries from tourists that really don't have the experience or protective gear to ride quickly.

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Try putting 2-3 G2s in the back of your car vs 2-3 Mosquitos or Inokim Lights. I don't think it would be possible without losing your back seats. I have also been in the predicament and made it very clear to me why you need folding handlebars for the "personal" aspect of a PEV.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před rokem +4

      The difference is striking. My car has a narrow trunk, so I had to fold down a seat to get this in. We were going to mention that, but then tried it in Mitchell's trunk and it fit fine, and his is more typical.
      That said, I've piled 4 or 5 Unagi scooters in the back of my car, and Mosquitos are similar in that you can pile up a fleet of them! -Paul

    • @RCDevotee
      @RCDevotee Před rokem +6

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I would think through all the scenarios you plan on doing with your scooter and if there is a good likelihood you will need to to lift or store consistently you should be thinking of an ultra portable. The G2 takes up the same amount of floor space as most of the mid-tier dual motors. The G2 has all the same disadvantages of a big dual motor so really think if you want a tweener in terms of size and performance. If you are going to go that big then might as well go all the way. I also wouldn't add weight to the scooter by always having the charger weight included with your scooter. If range is the big calling card for the scooter why move the weight burden into the scooter vs something you can keep at home and lose 3-5lbs from the weight of the scooter.

    Thanks for your comprehensive review! G2 Max looks great-but the only thing that holds me back is the stem angle. I've found that only a few degrees in stem slope can make a big difference in how stable and comfortable a scooter is, especially at higher speeds. If you compare this Segway's stem angle with, for example, that of a Niu KQi3 Max, you'll see the Niu's 75° stem is noticeably less vertical, allowing better, more natural control. I'm sure you've ridden both and noticed the difference, but I'm surprised you don't mention it very often.

    • @spinningpeanut
      @spinningpeanut Před 7 měsíci

      I'll vouch for a more vertical stem. It leaves a bit more room in the cockpit so it's far more comfortable for folks a bit thicker in the front. Plus most of the time you should be steering with your feet rather than the handlebars anyway. I have the unagi Voyager and it has a bit more of an angle though not as intense as the kqi line, plus the Voyager's stem wiggles a bit. Frankly it's less comfortable leaning back while breaking in a more angled stem than it is on a vertical one I find. Plus angled stems don't allow as much room to lean forward for acceleration uphill. I personally find more flaws in an angled stem. The room needed to lean is too important and while yes the center of gravity shifts to stay closer to the middle of the deck and prevents noobies from doing a front flip I'd rather take the extra space and control. Plus for those of us who had an escooter 15 years ago it was all vertical stems and wide handlebars with a finger trigger rather than thumb throttle or twist throttle. I learned to ride that way. These are my excuses anyway

    Still a Big Fan of the M365 Pro, with some relatively cheap and available modifications:
    1) dual shock fork suspension for about $50, delivered;
    2) rear shock system kit for about $50, delivered;
    3) 10 inch dual honeycomb solid tire for the rear ($22 for this tire, which uses the factory stock rim)...also, the larger rear tire levels the deck due to the front fork suspension raising the front of the scooter;
    4) shim ($5) for the rear fender to accommodate the solid 10" tire;
    5) V3 controller ($30) with stronger traces and mosfets, to handle more amps;
    6) SLIME and puncture tape for the front pneumatic tube and tire, resp.
    All together, about $160 in upgrades that substantially improve performance. Custom firmware freely available to increase max speed (and torque) up to 35kmph (22mph). I initially did mods 1, 5, and 6.

What is a practical method for locking these outside if we ever want to zip around the city and stop somewhere for a meal. Are there specific lasso-style locks for these? • @Bigheadedwon
    @Bigheadedwon Před rokem +5

    I owned the original, build quality was excellent. Lack of suspension was a let down. And changing the tire was beyond bad. I understand they have puncture-resistant tires, but I still got a flat. And changing it was madness. The amount of screws and cables you have to remove just to take the tire off is mind blowing. And getting the new one on beyond tested my patients. I understand most people ride there thousands of miles and never get a flat blah blah blah. Maybe I got unlucky but I got 1 after about 200 miles, and the self healing didn't heal it. This looks like the same scooter so I'd have nightmares the tire-changing process will be the same here.
    22mph is a good step up from the 18 of the G30 Max. And outside of getting unlucky with the flats I think the G30's pretty fantastic. Segway and Ninebot really know how to build quality scooters.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před rokem +2

      The self healing tires definitely aren't 100% effective. We tested it on the Wolf King GT and found that while at first it appeared to work perfectly even with punctures longer than 1 inch, the re-seal wasn't complete. So it would help you get home, but still leaves you with an annoying slow leak when the nail is longer than an inch or so. I think if I were commuting a lot, I'd keep a spare around, but you're right about there being a lot of fasteners. It should be the same in the front now, but I don't know if it's better or worse at the rear of the scooter now that it has suspension. -Paul

      Personally, I prefer pneumatic with tube...but with puncture tape between tire and tube + SLIME for the inner tube. These additions, coupled with correct tire pressure...has helped me completely avoid frequent tire changes. With enough distance travelled, any tire requires replacement. DO NOT forget to heat the tire in hot boiled water for 10 the 15 minutes, just before install. Have on hand the dishsoap (lubricant) and a few tire mounting tools to do the job.
      For the rear of my M365 pro, I installed a shock/spring dampening kit coupled with a DOUBLE honeycomb SOLID 10 inch tire (which uses the factory rim)...this has made my ride very smooth and with the solid tire...no more rear flats!

    Hey y'all. What should the psi be on the wheels to get most range out of it?

    Hey! 😉 Spontaneously, what would be the team's preference between the new Max G2 and the Mantis 8 (single motor)? 🙏
