For my wife who works in NYC, leaving the long island railroad, then to the subway, then to hit the road for about another mile on the street, nothing beats lightweight. E-TWOW GT SE Smart Edition is a no brainer for her at about the same specs and price, 700W motor, 26mph max speed, long platform, 504Wh which is more than enough, easy fold and carry all at about 26lbs. An extra 15lbs up subway stairs would be too much for her. Thanks for your great reviews!
Glad to hear it's treating you well. You two should check out the reliability video we just put out. UScooters (E-TWOW) does well in that one! -Paul
Great video and info. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
It's about time. Rider Guide was so sleepy. I am glad to see ESG come back ! Larger diameter tires !...I mean long live Paul !
Thank you so much!
I can't stop smiling. We'll probably change up the artwork a little, but I'm just super super stoked ESG is back. We're keeping Rider Guide too. We're going to post a ton of coverage of the emotos and e-bikes over on the new Rider Guide CZcams channel from the motorcycle show, but ESG is staying right here with our scooter people! -Paul
Hell yeah brother. I was wondering, I've been looking at scooters and their weight limits, is that like a hard limit, or more of a "it won't perform to spec with someone above x weight"?
Thanks! -Paul
Hulk hogan?
It's usually a performance limited weight spec. The Touring had a 330lb spec for a while, but they revised it back down to the original 308lbs based on performance. -Paul
have u reviewed the dual Tron popular im thinking of purchasing would like your opinion.
Not yet! Possibly in the future.
I owned one of these in the past. It was a challenging experience. Endless loose screws, fender design, etc. When I owned one I had to tighten screws and adjust brakes before and after every ride. Went to the Glion Dolly after that which lasted more then two years without a lick of maintenance .
Thanks for the input!
The Segway Ninebot F2 Pro or if you have much more funds, the Apollo Go will be a better choice for you if build quality is your priority without all the hassling maintenance!
The touring is faster than the cruiser? Weird. Did I miss soemthing or did you overlook to mention the range? How far does it go?
Have you tried those Chinese models? I saw some 2400w models like M1pro and I wonder if is worth it. Thanks
We tend not to review scooters that don't have US-based support, because I feel like so many of those companies just come here to dump a couple containers of scooters and then disappear. If you end up needing parts for one of those direct-import scooters, just figuring out which part to buy can be a nightmare. You also sometimes get hit with customs fees after the fact. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideGot it. I do live in Canada and I'm looking for soemthing under 1.5k. I was tempted when I saw this Chinese one 2400w, but my worries is exactly about replacement parts if I need. The shop owner gives one year warranty, but is a pretty new shop. So it made me step back with the purchase. I saw some Apollo phantom second hand but I'm not sure if it's a good idea as well. I am kind of struggling because I need a scooter a bit stronger to climb o e Hill. 😂😂
For best in commuter category it comes down to the Emove vs E-TwoW GT = Emove is less sleak but that gives more comfort. E-TwoW is most effecient , sleak + lighter but $150 bucks more
which one would you recommend from this and the alternatives that you mentioned?
Touring is a great choice!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks!
Do you need a license for riding these fast scooters?
Just ordered my Apollo Go! When you guys getting your hands on one to test?!
We are testing it as we speak!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideawesome! Can't wait for the review.
I'm really considering purchasing this model. Which throttle control would you go with?
Thumb is cool! Use code RIDERGUIDE for $50 off
Great video! At 3:38 the image shows top speed of 35 mph. Surely that can't be right. Although at another point you did mention a 27mph top speed. I went to test drive one today based on this video and I couldn't hit 35mph top speed. I'm 198lbs and I was hitting closer to 23mph.
Yes 35mph is a typo for sure! Sorry.
Thanks for pointing this out
Do you guys have a review on the ninebot f65??
We don't. There are so many Ninebots. I feel like we could dedicate a year to it and never get them all. I'd love to review the F65 though. -Paul
What up Paul. Great to see content.
Thank so much! Always good to see you! Comments always appreciated! -Paul
"Can the rear wheel be switched for a tubeless air? Does the updated Cruiser S seat fit the Touring?"
I don’t think the rear tire can be switched for air filled.
I would recommend reaching out to Voro about the updated Cruiser seat. That’s a good question. It’s possible they’ll update the touring seat too. -Paul
You should review the Evercross H5/H7/H9!
No plans currently but thanks
I have the old model of this scooter and it has been very reliable. I had to replace the controller at one point, but that was under warranty and even if I had to buy one, the parts are cheap. The biggest problem with this scooter is no front brake. ESG shows how fast scooters stop from 15mph, but they go quite a bit faster than that. I'd love to see a video of an emergency stop from 27 mph on this scooter. It would be a long distance. Even with my 20 ish mph top speed, a front brake would make this scooter much safer.
It's a good point! As speed gets higher like it has with the new Touring, the front brake becomes more important. I definitely get more into a steer-away-from-danger-mode than hit-the-brakes mode when riding a single brake scooter. -Paul
💯‼️💙
Would it be worth it though to just save a little bit more money and get a emove cruiser?
Oooh, that's a great question. I thought about diving into that in this review, but thought it might be distracting to get into a whole different price bracket. I'd say it mainly depends on whether you need the range. The Cruiser is a heavy lift, but worth it if you need the range. Braking is also much much stronger. -Paul
It looks like we're probably getting a 2024 refresh of the Cruiser too, so that might affect the calculation as well.
I find the wheels too small for my safety preference, I am hoping to see some higher speed options similar to the Taur.
Dualtron has one with large wheels, but we haven't tried it yet. Fluid Freeride has the Mercane Jubel. I love larger wheels. They're great for top speed and a smooth ride but they sometimes lack torque because the larger wheels are like riding a bike with higher gearing. TAUR has decent torque though. -Paul
Maybe if they come out with a second iteration of Taur i can get back in, baring that I'm waiting for a suron type deal thats closer to 2500. @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
You should try out the Inokim Quick 4 2023 edition.
That's a fun scooter. We have one here from around 2020. Do you know what's changed (other than the price being way lower now?). -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I'm not sure, but I heard the older models had a common stem wobble problem. I assume that has been addressed in the 2023 version.
It has, there's a tube-shaped bumper across where the stem latches. It compresses when the stem is latched and can be adjusted to make it more firm. We show the difference between the wobbly 2019 version and the 2020 version back in the 2020 Touring review. (I've linked to the exact spot in the video below). -Paul
czcams.com/video/HfZyZ26GeTs/video.htmlsi=I4CluVwvvkiqvKCE&t=509
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide OK! Is that the Touring or the Inokim Q4? I'm referring to the Inokim scooter.
Aaaah! @appearoffline I was thinking of the Touring! Yes, the Quick 4 had some stem wobble. I spoke with Nimrod Sapir (the lead designer) back when we reviewed it and showed him the problem and that the adjuster Inokim bad back then wasn't doing the job. I don't know if they've addressed it or not. The stem wobble of the Quick 4 wasn't terrible, just not as good as it could have been. I still really like the Quick 4 we have, but hopefully, the new one is better. -Paul
How is this any different to the 2020 version? Seems exactly the same.
The new version has higher handlebars, a tubeless front tire and 5.5 mph higher top speed. -Paul
nice
Thanks Teddy! -Paul
Isn’t this scooter a clone of the Fluid Horizon but with suspension?
Both this and the Horizon have been out for a long time. They have a lot in common. The Horizon has more range, the Touring has more power.
The Horizon has suspension front and rear, but the front suspension is hidden in the center. -Paul
Yes - I’ve owned a V2 Horizon and aware of its front shock. My fault for not mentioning earlier! The most recent Horizon I owned has a major locking mechanism failure. It “unlocked” on me mid-ride and threw me off the scooter! I don’t recommend it until their maker updates its locking/folding mechanism.
That's the downside of that type of mechanism. Any scooter that looks like these can potentially have that problem, because they can sometimes feel like they're latched when they aren't. I mention making sure it's all the way latched in this video, but wish I would have illustrated it a little better with a shot of what the scooter looks like when it's half-latched. You'll notice how hard I shove it into the latched position in the video. It's become a habit of mine to over-latch this type of scooter. -Paul
The touring is only 0.7 swconds slower up the test hill thantm hover 1 jouney max dual motor and its only 500 watts? So its pretty powerful single motor that keeps up with dual?
The Journey Max is a hill-climbing beast! Motor power specs often don't predict performance accurately. It's one of the reasons I don't talk about motor power that much. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide oh I see. I didn't expect the touring to be so powerful uphill. Cool!
Thanks ESG, Enjoy the channel. Is this just a clone of the V-max R25? please comment
I hadn't heard of that one. It's strange because there is another scooter company called VMAX out of Switzerland. I'm reviewing the VMAX VX2 Pro GT right now.
The scooter you mentioned looks like a clone of the EMOVE Cruiser. Both the Cruiser and Touring have been around since 2019 or earlier. -Paul
Thanks, yes thats v-max from switzerland. its a model they put out in 2021 i think, i have one. again v sim to the e move crusier, just with a dif folding mech and less battery@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
Yes, the Emove Touring is just a rebranded UniCool - Titan T8 scooter that has been sold by several other companies under several different names since at least 2017. Each company adds their own branding & logos, and also adds some features unique to their brand. But yeah, the fundamental ‘bones’ of these scooters is all Titan T8.
Thanks Paul, yep defo a clone, just rebranded, which makes me think? this could be a good platform for a DIY upgrade, bigger battery, better controller, ect. is this something you would advise or are you by the book on that one?@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
I finally made my mind I order it with the discount
Awesome! Enjoy your new ride
this looks promising, I wonder how well it resists water and rain?
It's rated IP54 which was state of the art back in 2020, but others have surpassed this level of water resistance since then. It's ok for light showers, but I wouldn't ride it in a downpour or through 1" deep puddles. Also, keep in mind that almost no scooters in the world have warranty coverage for water damage, so be careful, and bring it inside to dry out if it gets wet. I'd also recommend adding silicone sealant where the cables enter the front of the deck.
-Paul
The joyor s5 is 650$, 31 mph, about 17 m range, 800 watt single motor
We have not tested that brand!
1 negative about this scooter is the wheel size, IMO.
You know what's funny is I didn't really feel the effect of the smaller wheels while testing. I definitely notice the harder, solid, rear tire though. I'm always scanning way ahead for pinecones, potholes and squirrels, and fortunately if I ever miss seeing something, I can always hop over it. Early in the video I jump over my brand new phone! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide OK! Comfort is quite important for me. I'm guessing the stiffer suspension combined with smaller wheels and a rear solid wheel makes it inferior to the F2 PRO and G2 comfort-wise. Is that a fair assumption?
Ancient scooter. You have so many better options now
It's definitely an older design. The very first scooter I ever rode was a Skip Scooters rental back in 2018 (before I ended up working for Skip and Lime). It was a very similar to the Touring! -Paul
Still love my Dualtron mini 2022 version it's a little beast. For single motor scooter it's amazing had mine nearly 2 years and i live in the UK so that says it all buy Dualtron you won't be disappointed..😊
Can not wait untill u hit 100,000 subs aand the the day 1 million subs and i dont think this fatest a inmotion scooter and horizon are faster but it. Got a higher top speed for close to same price 600 or so watt 750 watts or so inmotion
Thanks for the support!
How is this only 41 lbs? That's crazy.
Great weight for sure for all the features!
I dont see anywhere where it holds 300 lbs. It says 220
It’s 300lbs! They will adjust it
So they’re an American company like Ford. Just like Ford, built somewhere else, for the most part…got me curious…😊
It's true. Voro, Fluid, Apollo and GOTRAX are all based in the North America, but manufacture in China. As far as I know, the only scooters built in the US are 2Swift (more of a eskate than scooter), Rion, and sort of TAUR. Last I heard, they were doing final assembly in Los Angeles, but that may have changed.
I suppose there are some fringe brands like Hollyburn too.
Help me out folks. Anyone else know of a U.S. built scooter?
-Paul
I have used one of these. Suspension is absolutely horrible (might as well not have it) and after a few hundred miles the front stem flex's so bad it feels unsafe IMHO. Hard pass.
What year was yours? In 2020 they updated the stem so the tension is adjustable. -Paul
Same, I've rode about 20 different scooters and the most trash one was a emove cruiser, rode 2 of them used with under 300 miles are both were hot garbage.
Which of the 20 were your favorites? -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Imo the vdm-10/ghost, t9/old apollo city, e-twow gtse and gotrax gxlv2 were all fantastic for their class/price point.
How reliable is this scooter?
I'm glad you asked. You may not have made it this far into the video, but we're giving scooters reliability scores now. The Touring does very well. -Paul
czcams.com/video/0XE1aXeZUDw/video.htmlsi=0iKuyvFyCqXH_qHV&t=388
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I'm getting this scooter for everyday commute for work save me gas money. Thank you for your review really appreciate that!
Extremely confused how nothing negative was said about this scooter. Low mounted headlights are next to useless and used to be pointed out as a negative on this channel. The trigger throttle is similar. While that's something that can be rider preference, it's largely considered outdated and potentially the least desirable out of the three throttle types on scooters. Again, something that used to be mentioned on this channel. The low mounted headlight should be completely unacceptable on an electric scooter in 2024. How can you get a high "reliability" score if you can't see at night? This review reads like "don't say anything too harsh because we were sent the product for free". You didn't disclose that it was, so I assume it wasn't, but that makes the lack of any obvious negative remarks all the more strange.
Thanks for your input.
Negatives mentioned:
Rattling headlight
Suspension stiff for my weight
Solid rear tire transmits vibration despite suspension
Single brake not as good as dual
You have to be sure to latch the stem all the way up
Two different types of accessory lights were recommended.
Lighting would impact the reliability score if the lights themselves seemed likely to malfunction. A scooter could have no lights at all and still be extremely reliable.
Cheers
-Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuidethank you, Obviously that person wasn't really listening to the video I heard all the negativity about it but I was still buying it.
Just Live for god it doesn't matter how it looks as long as your having fun riding it and you don't have to walk.also nobody cares how it looks cause most of people don't even know I'm there until they almost hit me with there car.the drivers where I live are crazy they will mow you down on a scooter just cause gas prices are high and electric scooters have more traffic rights than a car.i don't use a seat on mine cause i love to stand proudly with my chest out zippin through traffic that's backed up for blocks and show out a little bit for the onlooking traffic as I sway side to side across the busy intersection.ive got a hiboy s2 and a gotrax rival right now but I plan on getting a scooter that goes 35 to 40 mph with a price range of $800 to $1200.
@@Spook-Tha-General-PWE Yeah 35 to 40 mph, I can use it as a car.
With a 500 watt motor, I’m sure it will be a struggle to get to 35mph. Has to be PERFECT conditions. 88lb rider weight, downhill, wind behind you.
Race my Solar P1 and find out. 42 mph.
Ur comparing a $1200+ scooter vs a $800 one ?
Great scooter. We have a Solar P1 2.0 and 3.0 We did a recent review of the P1 3.0 titled Fastest Under $1,300! -Paul
It says max load 220, you claim 308.
Thanks for pointing this out. That's really strange. The Touring has always had a famously high rider weight limit. It was once spec'd as high as 330lbs then was 308lbs for a very long time. I'll reach out to see if it's really 220lbs now. -Paul
very outdated design, They launch new models, to me they all look the same
Specs to price it’s one of the best out there!
