    Outstanding review, Paul. I just wanted to reinforce that the longer format is fantastic. Please keep doing this as the additional information is fantastic. 10:20 I had to listen to this three time to make sure that I understood correctly but it's really disappointing that the GX3 has tubed tires. I'm hoping that the wheels will accept a tubeless tire because that's a pretty significant downgrade from the GX2. Another thing that's odd to me is that GoTrax can't seem to get their act together with regards to the technical specs on their website. While listed as 94 lbs, thanks to ESG, we know that the weight is 7lbs less than specified, which is a good thing. On their website they still specific a "thumb throttle" which is obviously different from what your unit shipped with. Another oddity is the "54V 25ah (1350Wh)" (specified on their website) battery but there is no cell counts that adds up to 54V, it's either 48, 52, 56 (very rare) or 60V. Well, if the voltage is indeed 52V and it's a 25Ah then that's 1300Wh, not 1350Wh as listed. If it's 48V and 25Ah then that's 1200Wh... not "1210Wh." In future review, it would be helpful if we could have the working voltage of the scooter stated / verified... since the manufacturer doesn't seem to be capable of doing so, not to mention that's a fairly basic and important spec when it comes to any PEV. Thanks again and thanks for the ESG discount.

      Thank you so much. That means a lot coming from you!
      It's amazing how often manufacturers are off on weights. I was shocked when I measured Hover-1's ACE R350 and R350 and they agreed with my scale to within 1/10th of a pound.
      The battery thing was surprising. I checked the website, checked the owner's manual and checked the sticker on the scooter and they all said different things. The sticker on the scooter seemed like the most official source, so I went with that. Both the charger and the sticker on the scooter specify 58.8V max, which is the hallmark of a 52V scooter. So that also made me trust the sticker as the source of truth.

    No app is a selling point for me. Recent reviews on new scooter releases from ESG have shown me that companies are capable of making much better displays than the manufacturer special of the past which just included a basic speedometer and charge indicator.
    The only thing missing that an app can "solve" seems to be GPS which is easily fixed by purchasing an airtag or similar and finding a secure mount location.
    But the negatives of scooters that adopt apps seem to be innumerable (loss of core functionality without phone, anti consumer privacy policies, excuse for manufacturers to push features past the release date of a product, opening the door for overly monetizing "services" that shouldn't warrant additional costs, and more...).

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před dnem

    Just watched this video for a 3rd time and it's so well done. I enjoyed every minute of this video. Of the "big" reviews that I was looking forward to the first part of this year, two of them have been reviewed by ESG already. The GX3 and the Apollo Go being the first two. The 3rd as the NIU KQi 300X. There's really only one decent review out there but the reviewer really isn't a "scooter guy" and I believe it's his first one. In any case, hopefully NIU has sent you one. CZcams has been strangly quiet about this model, considering the success of the KQi3 Pro and Max. Looking forward to when you can post something on this scooter.
    My only slight hangups on the GX3 are the tubed tires and quite different throttle but those are not absolute deal breakers. I'm stuck between the GX3 and Solar FF Lite (2024 Update). Both are about the same price right now, with the GX3 being more all terrain with more sophisticated suspension and the FF Lite being a bit faster, 1380Wh battery, 15lbs lighter, self healing street tires and choice of thumb or twist throttle. While tire reliability and larger battery pull me toward the FF lite 2024, it's most similar to two sport scooters I have now, the RS5 Max and Mantis K GT. I don't own anything like the GX3 and don't have an 11" scooter. I'll have to give it a couple more days and just pick one. I could probably flip a coin and be happy with either.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 8 dny +1

      You've got a great collection. The Mantis King GT should really get more attention than it does. Mitchell got to ride the KQi300X a little at a conference, but I don't know when or if we're getting one for a review. I've been playing around with the full carbon Air X lately and think it may need to join my permanent collection at some point because CARBON! How is the damping holding up on the Mantis King GT? One of the things I've found is that for many scooters (not so much the Mantis King GT) the hydraulic shocks get overwhelmed by the leverage of the suspension. I feel like the GX3 will do well in that regard since the shocks are almost at a 1:1 ratio with the movement of the axles. (the wheels don't have 3:1 leverage over the shock like most C shaped arrangements where the shock is in the middle of the C). I spent the day doing speed runs on the RS Midnight Light from Voro. I set a new stopping distance record with it because it's so long and low. But the shock damping is really overwhelmed by the leverage of the suspension. It needs twice as much shock as it has. -Paul

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36 Před 5 dny

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Well, thank you but you and ESG have the real collection!! The Mantis King GT has been quite good other than some suspension clunking when unloaded. I didn't figure out the source right away and ended up having to mod it with some shaped rubber bumpers a few months down the road. The stem tube has a little bit of flex but I'm sensitive to flexible stems. The adjustable rebound damping is nice but once I set it.. I haven't touched it since. The RS5 Max has been much a more solid and quiet scooter out of the box and feels more premium with an absolutely rigid stem system. It's also slightly faster, which wasn't expected. Oh...I set a distance record on it yesterday 71 miles (cruising at 16-20mph) with 45.5V remaining so 20% -ish left? It included stops and I was out 4:52min. The GPS showed 69.54miles and the odo. showed 72mi. I was in a 3-4 parking garages however and the GPS was likely loosing signal. I split the difference.
      So far, no felt difference in the damping on the Mantis but 98% of my miles are on road and I'm nice to my equipment. I'm about 190lbs with all my gear on. I don't doubt however that there is likely some measurable degradation as you point out, due to the leverage of these "middle placed" c-type swing arms. The 1:1 ratio of the GX's is very interesting and that never occurred to me until you mentioned in. You would know better than with your racing background I but I'm wondering how much of what you're feeling is insufficient shock damping vs. insufficient spring rate. My guess is that the spring rates are selected to allow for an amount of typical movement that correlates to the designed swing arc of the arms. It's also my guess that if the spring rates were increased for "track" type duties" useful suspension travel would be reduced but overall track performance would be increased with brake dive decreasing. Congrats on the new stopping distance record!

      The GX1/GX2 are probably closer to what you're looking for, as they are closer to what you want weight-wise while being dual motor and trail capable. If you're looking for dual motor transport and you're not worried about longer range, then the GX1 is probably your best bet; the biggest improvement the GX2 will give you over the GX1 is increased range (if the few additional MPH don't do anything for your use case).

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36 Před 9 dny +1

      @@AdrienMitchell69 Unfortunately we won't see that specification in this current era of battery and motor tech. You currently need about 2200W to go 40mph on a scooter. So while everything you mentioned is cool, you'll typically need 52V to 60V scooters with corresponding appropriate battery sizes... at least 20Ah at 52V or 18Ah at 60V (which means range will suffer, so manufacturers typically go larger. The lightest scooters hitting 40mph are about 66lbs using all lightweight aluminum chassis and quad spring front ends. Go to the superior C-Type suspensions and they're typically coming in from 70-75lbs in scooters like the Mantis King GT and Solar FF Lite.
      That stated, I'd also like to see NIU's version of the Apollo Go. Something that goes 27-30mph but has a bit more range to it. Apollo could have added 25% more battery capacity to the Go model for about 2lbs additional weight and with minimal additional cost, perhaps $100 or so. Unfortunately they didn't and so the Go lacks the versatility it could have easily had. Perhaps NIU will would bring us a 50-ish pound, lightweight dual motor with 25mi of ESG tested range. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Likewise, if Apollo did a "Max" version of the Go, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. There are hardly any choices in lightweight dual motor, mid performance scooters. The manufacturers are really missing this boat in this area. In the case of the VX4 they basically gave it dual motor performance and then missed educated scooter buyers with a 24mph top speed. The VSETT 8+ used to be a fantastic scooter but the design is archaic now.

      The tires they're using are manufactured to be used without tubes, which is why they say tubeless on the outside of the tires. So the type of tire is tubeless, but they are using tubeless tires with tubes installed because the rims they're using aren't designed to run tubeless. It has similar controls and switchable gear like the GX1, GMax, and G(Number) series. And it has the Ironically huge display as the much cheaper Apex series. It has 0 to stop which I like, using kick to start scooters is so aggravating. I just hope it doesn't have the auto parking mode like the GX series which I don't know if it does.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 8 dny +1

      I didn't open this one, but I did open the GX2 in that video and it sure looks the same. There are 6 little rubber flaps in the deck so you don't need to pull back the deck rubber itself. Under that are 6 screws (I think they might have been phillips screws. Then the battery is right inside. Usually they are held down by 4 to 6 screws.
      They have batteries listed as available for 17 different models right now. The GX1 and GX2 are listed, but showing as sold out, the GX3 isn't listed yet.
      In the long-term video I did on the GX1 and GX2 I called customer service and was shocked to get a real person on the line within about 10 seconds. She said that if you need something that's not listed you have to email customer service. I emailed them and they responded, though it took a few days.
      I've been encouraging all of the scooter companies to list more parts on their sites, since it wastes everyone's time to not have all of the parts listed.

Really? it will break if you get water damage, it's not an indoor vehicle so why not protect it from the rain? this should be an industry standard, these vehicles are used by many people to commute to work, good IP protection is a must.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide

      The P1 Pro has more raw speed and power. The GX3 is more refined, and easier to ride. They both have very different looks, of course. Both are a ton of fun. If you can never get enough speed, the P1 Pro is unbeatable for performance per dollar. If you love great suspension and 38mph is fast enough, then the GX3. I bought this for my daily commute, but the gx3 I bought was defective. The pin latch hole on the neck looks like it has a fracture that gotrax/manufacture rewelded, hammered and repainted. The pin DOES NOT go through the oblong hole (should be round). Please be careful in case you get one of these. I haven't heard from their support department and the people on the phone can't do anything about it. The c-clamp gets loose from the vibration of not being fully secure. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
