Hey ....my old stomping grounds... Next grunion run ( use a Sabaki rig on pier for sardines and save them) anyway next grunion run go at night and throw a sardine in the shallows when a run comes in ... take my word for it! Yessir! I haven't fished the beach after hours in years but definitely have growing up as a kid. Under the moonlight. Holes form in the wash from the shallow gulps. It's a thing of beauty!
@@FishingWithStingrayDrew One more before I go ....you know where Huntington "Cliffs " are right North of the pier? The waves break pretty far out there... the first 50 yards or so you walk your surfboard out because its so shallow....well there's " TROUGHS" ( pronounced troffs) you csn see them from PCH they're dark green places that are deeper....they hold the Corvina and Croaker! I use light gear a trout rod with 8 lb MONO barrel swivel egg weight 4; Foot leader and small sand crabs no bigger than a fingernail! Please let me know when you do the at Night grunion run fishing! 👍✌️

I'm sure they will. If they eat mole crabs they'll go after it. I have a customer that lives in NJ that made an order looking to try them out for the same thing.

New to fishing here. Is there a Saltwater baitcaster you'd recommend?
I use Shimano. The reel I'm currently rocking specifically is a Shimano Curado 200. It's not Shimano then Diawa like for example, a Diawa Coastal. Low profile bait casters is what I recommend. Also, if you're new to fishing. I recommend you pick up a spinning reel. If you're not familiar with casting bait casters. Be prepared for some growing pains. We all go through it. Good luck!

I got in on the last batch a little late and only got a hold of 2 packs but they'll be here tomorrow and I'll be sure to give 'em a try and get back to you with the results. Though I might be the only one trying to avoid 50lb stripers and 100lb black drum on the beach. Fluke (summer flounder) opened yesterday and I'm curious if our fluke will behave like your halibut and avoid sand flea offerings. Gotta love the spring!

@@dangareau I hear a lot of good things about the Rockaway! Know personally a few of the reps and am in tight with them over at Okuma. They're all very good anglers and respect their opinions. They stand behind it and actually have been looking to order a couple myself for my Pops since he needs a couple new setups. I haven't tried them out yet personally but own a couple SST which are great rods but are discontinued now and were replaced by the Rockaway. Which tells me they're probably even better.

Plan to pair it with a Daiwa Fuego LT-XH 2500 loaded with Suffix 832 10lb. Figure I can use 4- 8 lb flouro leaders with your 3/8 jigs for Whiting, croakers and perch and quickly switch out to 20 lb Ande mono for Albies and Spanish Mackerel when/if they randomly show up. So damn excited!!

i just started fishing this winter. the rivers were not very active. caught my first fish last week. 40cm mullet. Im not sure if its safe to eat or not. Huge city river, where the river meets the harbor, brackish water from Nagoya Japan. I was super tempted to eat it but everyone says the big city river water is too polluted, so i didnt. We have something that looks like sheepshead, but less stripes. I know where to grab free wild tiny crabs and worms for bait also ! if i have more time, ill try more lures also. only caught one fish so far.

@@time2unwind690 a little over 3 years now but they went public mid last year. I've been dialing in my technique for twice as long though. I used to sell handtied sandcrab jigs, then moved on to Surfline Grubheads, and now Surf Heads. It's been a fun journey so far. Alot of fish 😁😉

I don't know if I feel more like a stalker or a junkie waiting for the next batch of jigs to drop. Just 5 more days (maybe a week)... no pressure. Can't wait to try this in OC (Ocean City, NJ) next month, probably won't be able to try 'em in OB 'til summer when I visit friends and family.

@@FishingWithStingrayDrew Green Top with Red Orange bottom (like European Green Crab). Just in case you were looking for suggestions. JK, I don't think color really matters and would opt for the unpainted if they are cheaper. Do you see any difference since you're using plastics instead of live crabs?
