In Episode 44, Bugsy heads down to the ledge to catch dinner. What starts off as a session spinning lures, turns into a session with livies targeting pelagics. Always a great way to start the day. Bugsy catches some dinner with a tailor curry on the menu. Rockfishing is dangerous and not recommended. If you do fish from the rocks, make sure the conditions are safest and wear appropriate gear including light clothing, rock cleats (or other appropriate footwear) and a lifejacket.

    Nice little window. I've found sometimes you get a 20 min window right at the top of the tide in rough swells. You only get a VERY small window and you have to be read with your watch looking at the time. When it's over the tide dropping will bring the swell right back with a vengeance.

    Can I ask if there are places to do this on the northern beaches? I don't live in Sydney but my best friend is in Hornsby and I spend some time up there sometimes, would love to go chase some bonito, just looks like you need a nice ledge though and deep water?

      Hi Ray, I mainly fish on the ocean ledges both on the northern beaches and south side. The harbour has some good spots and fish too. Just don't eat the fish west of the harbour bridge

      Sydney open ocean ledge mate. Super dangerous to fish if you only fish twice a year, I would recommend somewhere in the harbour

    Hi Bugsy, just have a question how do you rig your rods like do you use mainline to leader knots or just swivels and if so what knots do you use for leader knots and lure/hook/weight knots?

      Hi Cooper, for this style of fishing I keep it really simple. 20lb braid mainline then I use an FG knot to tie 1 1/2 rod lengths of 20lb monofilament as a leader. Then I use a loop knot to tie the jig head on. So two knots. That's it. Really streamlined and simple
