Great episode Bugsy! Gotta love the local stones consistently delivering! - SMITHY 😉🤙🎣🐟
Thank you Smithy. Yeah, we are fortunate to have pretty good fishing on our doorstep in Sydney
Again I must commend you for looking after the fish so well in an ice slurry. If we as humans are going to take fish to eat we need to treat them with as much respect and care as possible.
Couldn't agree more. Thank you Kamado. That first bonito tasted particularly amazing because of the way it was handled throughout
Nice vid mate. Chunky bonito!
Cheers Rob. Some nice ones for sashimi. Looks like there's been some good fish up your way lately!
@@bugsyfishing was a good start to the season mate but gone a bit quiet the past few weeks
Good to see everyone wearing their life jackets lol
I choose to wear one every session these days. You never know when you will need it
@@bugsyfishing I think it’s compulsory to wear one in NSW when Rock fishing ?
@@martingray8350 compulsory within the declared areas listed under the Rock Fishing Safety Act 2016. But I choose to wear one everywhere I fish from the rocks in NSW. Could save my life one day
Pretty sure that area is declared lol anyway good to see you wearing one yes you never know
Love your content mate! Any idea on where to order one of those trail blazin 110s from?
Thank you Harry. I'm having the same issue trying to find the Ivory Halo colour in a 110. I can't see any options without overseas shipping
my first striped bonito was about 60cm i didnt realise that wouldve been classified as a big bonito
60cm is a solid bonito for sure. Apparently they can reach up to 100cm in length
Great catches mate. 👏
What's this location by the way!
Cheers Abdul. It's in Sydney on the ocean ledges. I don't get more specific than that to respect the regular crew who fish it. All those ocean ledges fish pretty similarly
I’m work in photography, wouldn’t mind checking out what’s under the water there, would you mind telling me where that is, I’m from Darwin and new to Sydney.
Hi Brandon, from a diving perspective pretty much every headland in Sydney holds fish. Each have their own unique features. Lots of coastline to explore. If you are interested in pelagics, look for the edge of drop offs to 20m+. I don't name spots to respect the crew who fish them regularly. Cheers
Loving the channel mate. How do you like the 83-150? Can’t decide on that or the 84-100….
Cheers mate. It's a great rod and I've been surprised at how well it casts, even with a 60g Hydra (fairly light for that rod). I bought the 83-150 because I could only afford one and wanted to be able to use it at home targeting big kingfish (yes, rare) and also be able to use it for dogtooth tuna and GTs when I travel (rare too). The 84-100 paired with a 14000 size reel is probably a lot more sensible for Sydney. In saying that, my next Zenaq purchase will be the Defi Muthos Accura 100HH paired with a 14000 size reel for spinning and shore jigging. 100% I will use it a lot more than the 83-150, the extra length and ability to use it for jigging are appealing
@@bugsyfishing Thanks mate!! I'm Melbourne based and think the 84-100 is more suited to the type of fishing I'll do down here both from shore and boat based. I have a 9'3 PE8 shore casting rod and a Muthos Sonio 93m. Looking to bridge the gap.
@@xXDEFYETXx sounds like a great quiver of rods! Yeah, I like that the 8 foot range can be used in the boat too. Versatile
Where are you fishing in sydney
Hey mate, I fish on the north and south sides of the city. Mainly on the ocean ledges when the conditions are safe. All these ledges fish pretty well, all have great days here and there
My biggest question is how do you pull out your lure from the water when you don't catch anything? For me either I get it stuck on the ledge or I skyrocket it in the air just trying not to do option 1.
Hi Davide, good question! I had a friend hook himself in the leg attempting this recently. I usually wait for a wave and bring it up onto the ledge with the surge of the wave with the lure on the top of the water so it doesn't snag. Then lift it straight up carefully when the lure is directly (or close enough) under the rod tip. That way you get less of the pendulum effect. Hope that makes sense. Cheers
@@bugsyfishing 🤔 gonna learn to time with the waves then. For this reason I practically stopped using metals from the ledges, when I don't lose them they get beaten so bad! Thank you btw 🙏☺️
@@Davide608 it's not perfect. It still happens to me every now and again where I scratch a lure. Depends on the ledge too. A longer rod helps
@@bugsyfishing Yeeeah, I mean, as European used to surfcasting, adapting to Oz rockfishing while trying something new (never tried spinning before) it's honestly one regret after another!
How good is that! All the ledge lords present on this fine day🥳
Just missing you brother!
