This Tour De France Could END DIFFERENTLY Than You Think
For the past few months, everyone’s been talking about the “Big 4” and how they’re going to dominate the Tour de France, conquer the podium and not let anyone else have a piece of the cake. But seeing how some of the recent pre-Tour races have played out, this might not actually be the case, as even though it sounds wild, a super domestique could give those 4 stars a run for their money, and maybe even change the course of the race completely. So, would it be possible for a domestique to take a podium spot at this year’s Tour? And if so, which rider’s got the ability to do it?

EXPOSING Tour De France’s Most CONTROVERSIAL Question
What I like about this whole thing is that we will have some answers even on day 1. That course is very interesting. Pogi could want to put his foot down from day one even though he'll probably avoid the yellow. Too much work for week 1. Im rooting for Jonas though.
What if Pogi peaked too soon? Just asking.
Sepp kuss lol
Pogi for sure overall because of his performance this year and his teammates, they are really scary and strong this year. Remco maybe stage win but not podium I think. Bora looks strong team also maybe Roglic on podium. Strinters are hard to predict. Wating for something from EF education and Inios Granadies. So exciting this years Tour.
Definitely, they could. For my money, Tadej will have the yellow--but the other two podium spots could go to the likes of Sepp Kuss & Adam Yatesbury, or a myriad of other excellent riders. Well soon see, eh?
The best giro ever❤️
It's gonna be Jonas
I think seb kuss will not be there
cant wait for the Pogi Show
not really something new to consider, think happened in many previous seasons. then even riders like froome could have beat wiggo that year. jonas no ways goes there less than 95% fit so it won't/can't be an excuse. hard to pick someone outside the big 4 to actually win it, its more like an e.w top 10 needed to find value :) Time trial finsih makes it even more amazing, Eric could take a minute out of the best on this
No kuss. He has covid
UAE should light it up from day 1. At least dont let Jonas improve his fitness.
if they do and take a massive 30 seconds out of ready to race top other teams they may have taken too much out of themselves already. its not straighforward, i think the big guns stay close together and claw back the inevitable breakaway
Yates on the podium again, best domestique about
This excellent video raises interseting plausible outcomes that just make it potentially a fantastic interseting Tour. The Giro became boring with Pog going for so many stage wins despite a healthy lead and at the same time using up energy he might need in the Tour?
im in that minority that watches admiringly when i see greats dominating people, rather than bored.. but yep, only one way he rides:)
I'll be more impressed with Jonas getting onto the podium than I will seeing Pogi win.
wiinner winner chicken dinner!
This is a hard one to call cos nobody knows how Jonas will perform, not even Jonas knows that. There's A LOT of "ifs" to this TDF . . . I believe Jonas will be on top form but if he's not I would say it will be Jorgensen that will get a podium position for Visma I do NOT believe Roglic will podium. His display on the final day of the Dauphine was not something to be proud of. He almost lost the whole thing that last day. Classic Roglic, can't perform when it counts the most As long as Pogi stays upright and doesn't get sick I think he will win. Even if Jonas is on top form I believe Pogi will beat him this year Remco is going to be stage hunting. He's not going to be GC material for the TDF. I'll be surprised if he gets top 5 My prediction (IF Jonas is on top form) is Pogi 1st, Jonas 2nd and Yates, Pidcock or Bernal 3rd. If Jonas is NOT on top form I'd say Pogi 1st, Yates 2nd and Pidcock, Bernal or Jorgensen 3rd 🤘🏻🏴
World class video man!
Wout Van Aert
HE'S NOT GC!!! You're new to this sport aren't you? 🤘🏻🏴
B serious,,, about uae,, who was the at the Swiss,,
Why does everyone forget about Wout? I’m holding out big hope for him 💪
Wout is NOT GC and he could NEVER be GC at the TDF!!! 🤘🏻🏴
forget about him m8 ;)
Mememco back at it again.
All this hopeful talk is entertaining, but I think the top 3 should be Pogi, Jorgenson and Rog. Pogi is the best rider with the strongest team, so barring incident, he SHOULD win. Jorgenson has proven up to the task and Rog is Rog, but I think he's fading and always has incidents. Remco will get a stage but top 5 is iffy. Jonas should NOT top 3 if we are to believe in natural human recovery. I don't wish him ill will, but top 10, say top 6 would be a believable/ impressive comeback. I think UAE will have 2 in the top 5.
I agree with EVERYTHING you said. It's basically the same as what I've been saying except I don't see Roglic getting a podium spot. His final day at the Dauphine was not a good sign at all. He almost lost the whole thing on the final stage. As for Remco, a top 5 will shock me!! I would like to see Bernal make a solid comeback and get 3rd 🤘🏻🏴
I also agree with you on the "natural recovery" thing with Jonas. If Jonas is on form like BEFORE the crash or like last year's form it will be even more sus than what I already believe to be sus 🤘🏻🏴
nonsense! Those super domestiques are the best of the rest, yes; but even if they wouldn't have to do their work for their leaders but could ride as they want to, all of them would catch 10 minutes to Pogacar, Vingegaard, Roglic, Evenepoel. May be Vingegaard is not at 100%, or Evenepoel, may be Roglic does crash again (as he often does). But it is very unlikely that all of them do fail - and therefore the TdF will not end LIKE YOU THINK!
When the dopers are one step ahead of the doping controls. And people think the sport is clean. HAHAHA
I think we spoke on the other cycling channel (cycling highlights). I agree with you 10000% my friend!! 🤘🏻🏴
its the pinnacle of sports science, thats areal thing and related to health too, its not necassarily cheating so have to be careful about the nuances
Very interesting... and very plausible.
My dark horse is Egan Bernal. I know he’s not quite there yet but he looks better every time I watch him
If Jonas IS NOT on top form I would say Pogi, Yates and either Pidcock, Bernal or Jorgensen for 3rd. Would love to see Bernal make a solid come back!! Remember Bernal isn't main GC for INEOS 🤘🏻🏴
no
Sadly I think evenepoel will struggle this tour. He will light up a stage but that will be it
Pogi will not even finish on the podium... Mark my words...
That’s delusional unless he’s tired from the Giro, but I don’t think that’s the case cause he dopes
Unless Pogi crashes or gets sick he will 100% podium!!! Even if he's suffering from the Giro he will still podium. For the record I'm not even a Pogi fan 🤘🏻🏴
@@theweeklynewsexplosion5358 100% and so does Jonas!! 🤘🏻🏴
You are all correct of course... I was just checking out what kind of reactions I would get.... 😉😁 But I do think that 99% of the people will be surprised this Tour... This Tour is no walk in the park like last Giro... If Jonas is only 95% of what he was the previous two editions, he does still win... let's not forget that be gave away a few minutes on the 'Champs' last season, and that the real difference was just a little less than ten minutes.... And I am a Roglic fan by the way, but a true fan of the sport, thus I do not care who wins.... Would be great to have somebody else win this edition....
@@swissbiggy remember the final stage is a ITT so there may be a surprise. I doubt Remco will be close enough to podium but if he does podium it will be because of the final ITT. I think he'll be lucky to get to 5 and Roglic will be lucky to get 3rd 🤘🏻🏴
Remco has nothing to do with the other three
Thank you. Personally I don't see Remco ever being the big TDF GC that everyone hopes he will be. People say "but he won La Vuelta", but we know that's the easier GT out of the 3 and we also know that 42 year old Chris Horner won La Vuelta also😂 so that doesn't translate to Remco being able to EVER win TDF. I'll be SHOCKED if he's top 5. I'd say he will be lucky to get in top 10 and that would be success for him I believe 🤘🏻🏴
@@kennykaniff you got what I meant men, exept for this he's a fenomenal rider and could win pretty every one day race
@@diobrutto664 he can afford a bad day when he can take big time off riders in the time trials, needs good teammates to keep him within touching distance
@@diobrutto664 I would never take that away from him. He is an incredible rider. I just don't see him on the top podium spot at TDF EVER 🤘🏻🏴
@@PazLeBon I was having this conversation the other day with somebody. Somebody said "Remco will make team UAE's life a living hell" and I said there's no way ONE rider can make UAE's life a living hell especially when team UAE is the strongest team in the peloton. Remco doesn't have the support he needs to compete with UAE or Visma. We already know what kind of team is needed to win the TDF and Remco does NOT have that 🤘🏻🏴
I think Pogi takes the GC, one of his domestiques comes second and someone like Jorgenson ends up as third. I wouldn't be surprised if Roglic crashes& abandons. Evenepoel hasn't got a chance. He'll end up fighting for those final top 10 spots with some Ineos&UAE riders and perhaps Kuss. As for Vingegaard, I haven't got a clue. If he's not in form but is able to ride out the 21 days he could end up playing a domestique for Jorgenson.
That's my prediction also. If Jonas is NOT on top form I say Pogi, Yates and either Pidcock or Bernal. If Jonas IS on top form I say Pogi, Jonas and Yates, Pidcock or Bernal. I really hope to see Bernal make a solid comeback and I'm gonna say he's got a great shot at 3rd 🤘🏻🏴
" Evenepoel hasn't got a chance. " ive added that to he predictions of the season for later use
@@PazLeBon It's true, Landa will end up outperforming him, you'll see. Another surprise we could witness is Gall fighting for GC
@@PazLeBon 😳 you just got done defending someone who said that Remco will make UAE's life a living hell in another comment thread. I was doubting Remcos ability to be top 5 and you told me you've seen riders that were dismissed do better than expected. Everything in your previous comment was telling me that Remco is stronger than I expect and that he will do better than what I expect but here you are saying what I got done predicting in other comments, telling us that Remco doesn't have a chance. You can't play both sides of the fence mate. At least I'm consistent. Even if I'm wrong, my comments are consistent 🤘🏻🏴
This is the time for Pogi to show his Mercx mettle now; if he cant win this year and beats Visma head on he can never be.
Everybody seem to underestimate Evenepoel. My bet is that he's going to be in the best form of his life and that he's going to make uae's life a living hell
He won't even podium. If he gets top 5 I'll be surprised!! 🤘🏻🏴
@@kennykaniff what are the next lottery numbers then ? I need a few millions quick 🤑
@@user-fd1qq9mv6uI wouldn't share my winning lottery numbers with someone who thinks that one man (Remco) can make an entire teams "life a living hell" especially when that team is literally the strongest team in the peloton. How do you even come up with such a statement? There's no logic in it 🤘🏻🏴
@@kennykaniff the thing is you simply can't have them 😂 i'm simply betting and you're stating, that makes a great difference 🙄 and also, one last thing to remember, race outcomes are in fact impredictable due to events like falls, illness 😁 but, you're an expert and are aware of that, of course 😉
@@kennykaniff theres more than one way to win a tour, and this years one offers a wider possibility of variance, we have a mad start, uphill time trials and gravel roads ive seen many dismissed riders win it over the years
I think the most common podium prediction would be Pogi, Jonas, Roglic. But if Jonas struggles heavily, and Visma needs to turn to someone else, if I had to make a "maybe it could happen" prediction I would go with: Pogi, Yates, Jorgenson. Jorgenson has looked better than Roglic in most racing, but a lot of what Jorgenson will be allowed to do will depend on Jonas. I think Remco isn't going to be able to stick with the leaders in the long climbs. And Yates, well he really should be a team leader as he is that good and showed great form recently.
That is possible, assuming Roglic can stay upright...I am thinking Pogi, and either Yates then Jonas, or Jonas then Yates. My bet is that Remco will do well to finish in the top ten. We will know a lot about Remco, Jonas, and Pogi if Pogi wins the first time trial.
@@denisesayer9225 Juan Ayuso is also a contender for the top three. The UAE team is very strong. However, I believe Roglic has not yet shown his full potential this season. I do not see Vingegaard on the Podium either. Yates, Jorgenson and Kuss will be interesting to watch. Remco's time is not now. The Vuelta is not the Tour. He will overdo it again in week two.
Matteo is definitely a dark horse for this tour!!!
@@denisesayer9225 The early TT's can often be won by the TT specialists, but later TT's, it seems will usually go to the GC guys as they have the best legs at that point. I always wondered, why the GC leads do so well in week 3 TT's and it makes sense as they're the ones with the most endurance, best legs to last 3 weeks of racing. So I would guess Remco may win that early TT, or maybe even a specialist like Ganna. But I would put down Pogi to will win the final TT in Nice. I agree with you Remco to finish in the top 10, I personally don't think he will be close to the podium at all.
@@dmoore4520 I agree, but if Jonas looks good, Matteo, Wout, and Sepp will be playing domestique and that means potentially going hard, burning out, and then pulling off to the side, preserving energy, and dropping in the overall. Unless Visma plans to keep Matteo and Sepp high in the standings just in case Jonas can't cut it late in the race. Whatever the case, it's going to be very fun and intriguing to watch this year.

Of course he has that special Jumbo Juice 💉💉💉
How Can Jonas copy something pogachar has never Done?
To be honest, Jonas is probably the strongest rider in the GC. But he won't be able to win this year.
I hope Jonas will be fit enough…he will be a beast if he is…
If Jonas is fit and contests the Tour….he will serve it up to the Pog…
The videos of people other than cyclists are really stupid and so distracting that I will not watch to the end. Grow up.
If Jonas had the right team around him and was 100% healthy, he might be able to do the Giro/Tour double. If Pogi showed up at both, I would say no, because he'd have to push too hard to win both.
Hot take- the actual showdown will be at the Vuelta this year. Pog will dominate tdf, then announce intentions to go for triple. Fully healed Ving will battle Pog at Vuelta
nah, he's not going to the Vuelta. He wants to win TDF, Worlds and Olympics. Don't think he'll have the legs to then go to Vuelta onto of everything
Jonas didn’t destroy Tadej ! 2022 his team fell apart ! & had to battle a strong Jumbo team virtually on his own ! 2023 he had a less than perfect prep ! Blocked by a motorbike & unnecessary Bike change which cost him dearly !!
Searching for excuses like crazy😂 lets be fair tadej wrist injury didnt affect him one bit last year, and if he didnt make that bikechange he would have lost by over 2minutes😉 tadej Said himself that he is about 40seconds faster on that climb with the Road bike so just 🤫
I take my hats off for Jonas… Even though he’s not at he’s best he’s still trying…..
wanting to do a giro tour double is not copying anyone's footsteps. Any GT specialist will want to do the double And talking about hardest things to achieve, wout's 2021 tour- 3 stages: mont ventoux, ITT, champs elysees. Only 3 riders have pulled this off till date
I'm psyched for the tour!!! No matter the result... It will be epic!!
Poggi has learnt from his mistakes and this time i think he has matured and more prepared...giro was a prepararion..he had no compatition at all
We'll see. Hard to find any excuses for Pog this year if he is beaten again by Jonas.
If he will win it's because Vinge is not 100%.
It's going to be a great race. If Jonas is in great shape, he has the team to compete with Pogi (who has the best team). If Jonas is not fit, then Sepp Kuss could step up. No matter what, Remco and Primoz will be up there and fighting hard to win.
It looks like Matteo Jorgenson would probably be the one to step up
Roglic can’t avoid the asphalt
