  • Tadej Pogačar Is About To Do A TRIPLE And MAKE HISTORY
Over the past few weeks, there’s been a lot of talk about quite a touchy subject in the cycling world, all across the internet, cycling magazines and in the comments on our videos. And especially after Tadej Pogačar won Liège-Bastogne-Liège, with nobody able to even closely match his power, the topic has now become so serious it must be covered in a video. And it’s of course the question whether Tadej Pogačar will go for the triple this season, and what the chances are of him winning all three grand tours this year. So that’s exactly what we’ll discuss in this video.

I think the biggest limeting factor is still Jonas Vingegaard. By that I mean the following: If he isnt ready to compete in the Tour, then I think Visma will give Kuss the chance, and let Jonas go for hte Vuelta. Its still uncertain if Jonas will be ready for the Tour, but I think its out of the question that Tadej can compete with Jonas for the Vuelta, after riding two GCs already.

I do have one thing to add to this. Lets just say Pogi gives it a shot at La Vuelta . . . Jonas is MOST LIKELY going to miss TDF this season so he MAY just try his luck at La Vuelta. Why not!! Jonas debuted at 2020 La Vuelta but rode for Roglic so what's stopping Jonas from trying La Vuelta this season? Sepp won it last season so why not keep the jersey within the team and give Jonas a shot since he's probably going to miss TDF. It would also be a HUGE spanner in the works for Pogi getting ALL 3 in ONE season!! I wouldn't put it past Visma to try and stop Pogi from doing what no other rider has ever done. @user-en9qd5nx8w Před 22 dny +3

@@miyanohm True but when you're riding as a domestique you can "relax" in the TT, fall back on certain climbs, it's not like he was going for a podium in the Giro and Tour. But still riding all 3 in on year is already a hard enough thing, especially depending on the timing of when the grand tours may occur. Given how competitive Pogi is this year, and the fact that Jonas may be not on form, this is definitely setup for the triple. A lot will come down to Pogi's desire to ride the Olympics and Worlds. As the video commentator said though, getting the triple is something never done before, and I think would be worth passing on Olympics or Worlds as it could help him to a later potential greatest of all time label.

Do I think Pogi COULD do it? Yes I do. Do I think he WILL do it? No, I don't.
If Pogi is going to do it, he has to ride smart. He can't be trying to win every sprint stage, sprinting at the top of mountain top stage when it's not necessary, etc. He has to be smart and focused.. Dose his efforts during the Giro. He doesn't have to try to win it by 20 minutes, he just needs to win it. Save the legs for the Tour and then if they feel solid go for the Vuelta.
I'm not sure that's Pogi's style though. I think if he's in a race, he feels he has to win, whether it's a sprint stage, a time trial, or a mountain stage. I think he'll have to be smarter than that to win all 3.

Not sure people know how fitness levels work.... first of all, it's prettty well documented that you can only carry your peak fitness for 2/3 months which is why riders schedule it so they can peak at specific times, making it possible to win two grand tours in succession - they fit in that time window. Second, a grand tour drains your body and takes a toll on your blood levels... which is why too big a rebound in levels after a rest day indicates more than just "rest". Thus at the end of a tour it takes a long time to restore your blood levels, doing that twice in one season has so far proved impossible (unless you peak at start of season and then again towards the end).

This is so bonkers! There's 0 chance he does this.
First, let him win the GIro, then let's talk about the Tour. people keep forgetting that Remco and Rog will be there. And if Jonas is there, even not at 100%, he's still a force to be reckoned with.
It's quite possible that they'll all be evenly matched: Pog due to Giro, Jonas due to injury and Rog and Remco because they're a step below the other 2.
Even if Pog takes the Tour, he has a much better shot at the Olympics, Worlds and Lombardia, which would make for the greatest season ever already. Doing the Vuelta is much harder, and throws all that away. Plus Jonas will probably be there in top shape, regardless of whether he's at the Tour or not.

It is true, his chances will never get better, simply because Jonas is injured. However, I think Jonas has demonstrated that he is in a league for himself in TDF, and even if he starts TDF at only 95% - he has shown that he gets better in 3rd week, where the winner will be found and Tadej gets weaker. Unlike the past 2 years, now Tadej also only has roughly 1 month from his likely win in the Giro to recover before TDF starts.

Three GC's within the timespan of only three months is just too much, even for Tadej. After all, Tadej is still a human being. I don't think people realise how exhausting it is to ride a full GC, let alone win it. Also there are other factors to consider, not least the competition. Well, when all your top rivals are all injured and / or had surgery and haven't been able to train, and you have well, i wouldn't call that a hard thing to do. And then to think you did something great if you win all 3, well I wouldn't say you did something great. Now if you did it with all of them at 100%, that would be defrent.

Why did i even watch this. This guy has no idea what hes talking about🙄🙄
Didnt even metion Gerant Thomas who basically had the pink jersey last year in his hands before roglic pulled off a pogi 2020 move and took it in the last stage.
The fact that you'd even consider wva a competitor for pogacar is a joke. Even wout himself have already said his objective is not to win a grand tour. Dont get me wrong, he will definitely win a couple of stages at the giro, but he wont even top 10 the gc. Dont think he has ever came top 10 in a grand tour.
Primoz and Remco will be in top form at the tour. There is no reason for Jonas not to be. There has been people with the same injury and less time before the start of the tour and still showed up in great form.
Also the UAE team for the Giro has been announced already. The media says it is their C team plus pogi. Have you looked at the ineos lineup. I recon in a mountain stage there is gonna be 5 ineos guys at a point in the peleton and only 1 uae guy plus pogi.
