Jonas Vingegaard is still recovering from the horrific crash, and trying his very best to be at 100% for the Tour, while in the meantime, his biggest rival, Tadej Pogačar, is shining as bright as ever, dominating the peloton in ways unseen before. And with many cycling fans comparing the two, there’s been some leaked information that Jonas might want to copy Pogačar, follow in his footsteps and go for the Giro-Tour double in the near future. But, is Vingegaard really capable of winning the double? And how hard would it really be, considering what’s happening with him now?

It's going to be a great race. If Jonas is in great shape, he has the team to compete with Pogi (who has the best team). If Jonas is not fit, then Sepp Kuss could step up. No matter what, Remco and Primoz will be up there and fighting hard to win.

@@davidbee8178I would actually say it's the opposite! If Jonas really puts his mind into it, his riding style would be perfect to do the double. Waiting for the high mountains only to gain advantage while saving as much energy in the other stages, while Tadej seems to have the need to attack even when he could be saving

Whether Vinegar is ready for the Tour or not is irrelevant. Pog is in monster form, Vinegar won't beat him. Next, as to the Double, Vinegar is forgetting one obstacle, Pogacar!

wanting to do a giro tour double is not copying anyone's footsteps. Any GT specialist will want to do the double
And talking about hardest things to achieve, wout's 2021 tour- 3 stages: mont ventoux, ITT, champs elysees. Only 3 riders have pulled this off till date
If Jonas had the right team around him and was 100% healthy, he might be able to do the Giro/Tour double. If Pogi showed up at both, I would say no, because he'd have to push too hard to win both.

horner is old school and the peleton has changed so much. he doesn't even believe in intervals. but he did suffer the same injuries
I hope Jonas will be ready - crashes are SO horrible - however I'm not as optimistic as you are - I don't think that Jonas will be able to be fully competitive day in and day out for 21 days -

I think it is, same as Cycling Highlights. It’s very good AI, but you can tell with the constant tone and style of speech. I’m no linguist but it’s so consistently the same, just like the other channel narrator. It’s annoying because I asked if Cycling Highlights was AI narrated, and they denied it. Maybe “they” is the AI. 🤔

lets be honest, Pog has had a free ride this yeah and if he wins the Giro Tour double it will be a hollow victory given he had zero competition at the Giro and his arch nemesis is very likely going to be well under his usual best.
You are delusional. Crashing is part of cycling. Or are you saying that Jonas 2023 TdF is hollow because his only competition had injury and he won it with over 7 minutes gap? Giro was easy just because Pog was there or it would be battle between 10 guys. Also last year Roglic won Giro with same level of guys, is that hollow? Gtfo

Listen, few others can compete with Jonas and Pog, Primoz is up there for sure, very close, Remco could be but we dont know yet...but theyre miles ahead of everyone else, so when the big guns race and the others aren't present then yeah, its a victory, but nobody should be under any illusions that it may have been different with the other aliens present. This works both ways, its the same for Pog, Primoz, Remco and Jonas... winning in the pro peloton is an achievement for sure, but these guys are another level, and their victories demand a little extra....its like Hinault pushing LeMond in 86, he did it for a reason...hollow victories are meaningless, the Badger knows better than you do....or was Hinault delusional too?

Also yoi are talking about Hinault but by your standards his TdF wins in 1979,81 and 82 were hollow because nobody was touching him and it eas walk in park for him.
Last year, a partially prepared Pogacar almost blasted Vingegard during the first two weeks... then came the failure during the last week. At any moment, I can't imagine Vingegard beating Pogacar, Yates, Roglic or Evenepoel (mostly because to the TT).

The way I see it is, Pogi is at the top of his game right now. He was outstanding in the spring races and cruised to a win in the Giro and has a super great team on top of that. Whereas Jonas we didn't even know if he was going to race again this year until just today. His training schedule is obviously not the same, and the team has been struggling a bit as well. Who knows, maybe Visma "Lisa" bike can wow us and carry him to a win, but I doubt it this year.

2022 his team fell apart ! & had to battle a strong Jumbo team virtually on his own ! 2023 he had a less than perfect prep ! Blocked by a motorbike & unnecessary Bike change which cost him dearly !!
Searching for excuses like crazy😂 lets be fair tadej wrist injury didnt affect him one bit last year, and if he didnt make that bikechange he would have lost by over 2minutes😉 tadej Said himself that he is about 40seconds faster on that climb with the Road bike so just 🤫

Agree . . . if he lines up for the TDF he might do well during the initial stages but then fade - I"m sorry for him despite being a Tadej fan - crashes are SO unfortunate
He's still young, so he can bounce back. Of course so was Bernal, and he didn't bounce back, different situation, but it's possible Jonas never gets back to his winning form. I think the main problem he has is Tadej. Pogi looks amazing this year and is always going to be a rival. In my opinion, if Pogi only concentrated on the Tour (like Jonas does) he would win it against Jonas with both on the same even playing field (not hurt, solid team, peaked at the right time, etc).
