I never play games. I use mine for watching videos and writing code on my laptops. I just started walking around with my headset on so I don't have to stop what I'm doing. You have increased my interest in trying games though. I keep mine on for hours without feeling motion sickness at all. I also have a Q2, which isn't good enough at passthrough to work with but it's good enough for videos.

LG C1 48" with 6745 hours total power on time, of which a huge amount is from playing Final Fantasy XIV. Starting to see some very slight burn in around where static HUD elements are (mini map most prominently), but only really noticeable when doing this kind of a static color test (and even then, mostly in yellow because the mini map is a brass color in FFXIV). Definitely unnoticeable in regular use. Also has the same negligible dirty screen effect that others have reported. Moral of the story is that even in a worst-case-ish scenario type of situation of playing the same game 30+ hours a week, it's still holding up quite well!

Of course this is 6 months down the line, but another reason to get the Q3 (if you can, of course) is that due to the FAR superior processor, games are already being made for Quest 3 alone, not even the Q2(and these are NOT Mixed Reality games either, Batman Arkham Shadow is just one example).

I'm pretty sure I heard that they want the android app store stuff, but google doesn't want to work with them because it's working on it's own vr. When it comes to cross-platform, that can sometimes be the hardest part. Horizon OS is based on android so I can imagine that implementation isn't a huge concern, purely the business garbage.

Pancake lenses do not work with OLED displays due to reducing the light brightness by 90%. This is why Sony used Fresnel lenses. U need to go to a limited and expensive micro-OLEDs to get just enough brightness but no where near the same level as the PSVR2s This is why Quest 3 had to go with LCD which is why the display is simply worse than PSVR2

I have loved my Switch. I picked it up in…2021? 2022? And absolutely love it. I do have a PC that can run some of the stuff that doesn’t run on/didn’t come out for the switch. But I really want to play on the switch when I can cause it’s just so convenient. Also, I love having access to Nintendo’s exclusives. I tend to like lighter more “fun” games in general.

It’s a nice headset in terms of features, but the build quality is super cheap! The swivel brackets are made of cheap brittle plastic! The synthetic leather is super thin and can easily get ripped! This headset will not last long at all and Sony does not cover wear and tear in their warranty. Definitely a ripoff at a $300 price tag!

I'm mostly a ps5 and even quest 3 vr gamer but since my gf bought one last week I havn't had this much fun in years. I'm already addicted to it!

I recently did the same thing, went back to the quest 2 as the 3 was being used by another family member. I only really play beat saber, so this is a comparison for that game only. Things I noticed right away: 1.) refresh rate of the quest 3 is noticeable. 2.) lens PPI didn't really matter to me. Neither one of them look great to me. color reproduction is close enough. Wish quest 3 would have done OLED. 3.) tracking seems to be better on quest 3. 4.) game totally playable, once you get into the game you don't notice much of a difference. 5.) quest 3 is noticeably snappier outside of game. If you have a quest 2, and you just play games like beat saber casually, I really don't think the upgrade is worth $500. It's also worth noting that my glasses scratched the quest 3 lenses. I wouldn't wear glasses on that headset without spacers or something to protect them.

If you are 60 years or above you grew up with computers and video games, hence there is no population now that did not have video games, they are not age restricted apart from the young in some cases, and personally the potential for VR, AR to help the older generation is huge, when you consider that it may help them keep fit and active in movement instead of sitting in a chair bored, i think there is nothing more of value in a younger person introducing and teaching the older generation how to use VR. Do it now before they are to old to learn new things.

I sold my Quest 2. But I kept my Quest Pro. I use the Quest pro, for PCVR because it's already hooked up to my PC, and has been dialed in to the way I want it. I use the Quest 3 when I either want to watch movies, when I don't have a TV available, (I'm moving, so it happens) or for Xbox GamePass once in a while.

The latency is too high for me, probably because of my Wi-Fi, only supporting 60/70mbps. But nice vid :)

The Q3 + Elite Strap + Chinstrap = all day comfort. A simple chinstrap like you would find on a bicycle helmet or skating helmet takes 100% of the weight off the front, letting you have a secure fit, without the headset being smashed against your face. If you didn't use an external battery with your Q2, you did not spend much time in VR. A 30watt USB battery is less than $50 and will let you use the Q3 all day long.
