You’re gonna love the Haligtree level! But saving it was certainly wise. I normally do it right before the last boss, which I guess you won’t know exactly when that is, but it’s sort of kinda obvious.

greatswords are really fun. you can play them like any other weapon and they’re alright, the R1 chain comes out fast enough to stagger lock most basic enemies. But against tougher foes that can ignore the hitstun you’re a lot better off using the heavy attacks (this is different from the special attack, aka ash of war). Running, jumping, charged or uncharged, they will do a LOT more poise damage letting you get crits more often. A single jump heavy does almost as much stance damage as Unsheathe, a fully charged one does even more. It’s definitely a different play style that requires you to look for and create openings because you have to keep that pressure up, but there’s really nothing else like bullying the boss so hard they don’t even get a move in themselves because this massive weapon literally doesn’t let them. Backstabs and ripostes are also really good on greatswords because you can usually get a fully charged heavy off as a wake up. Also, most greatswords have a similar guarding ability to small shields, letting you block some hits that you otherwise have to roll. 45:07 yeah astel can suck it. wait your turn ahh boss. his openings are super infrequent and he has so many moves that punish you hard for being close. Feels like a mage fight not a melee one. you’re 100% right about his moves being pretty RNG.

I just relized that when I commented "consult your sources about a boss whose name begins with an M" .. there's like 6 million npcs/bosses in this game that matches that 😂😂😂

Your greatsword takes are definitely because you're so used to dex weapons! Slower heavier weapons that hit for more. It's more satisfying to get a hit in with them, but of course, just as with dex weapons you also miss sometimes. Big weapons reward timing, and punish bad timing 😜 In my personal opinion, dex weapons in most games are just... basic. I can't really find their appeal, they aren't really rewarding, and they remove punishment completely. Also, got to remember, if this sword was the same upgrade level as your uchi, it'd more than likely hit for much more than the uchi 😂

35:13 there’s a secret here that the messages were directing you toward 55:53 thorny cracked tear has a misleading description, the tear itself lasts a full three minutes but it gives you an escalating buff the more consecutive attacks you land in short succession, that buff is the part that lasts a short time but you can always get it back. There are a few consecutive attack buff items in the game and stacking them can lead to some pretty insane one shots.

FYI; with great- and certainly with colossal weapons, jump attacks are the real deal! Jump attack, jump attack, jump attack!

Yeahh, Big Boy version of Mohg is definitely a challenging fight! But don’t worry, still not the hardest in the base game let alone DLC! You have some suffering to endure. As the one dude said, there’s another M Boss to look for that’s technically not mandatory

For your information, I would wager you actually are coming up on an appropriate level for the DLC in terms of scaling. Around level 150 is very good to get into the DLC, and you stats are currently optimized well enough to where you could probably start the DLC without too much trouble (the 60 vigor is exactly as much health as you want for it, and if you use weapons with good dexterity scaling your 65 Dex should provide you enough damage)

you also have both sides of the secret dectus medaillon that you can use at the 2nd grand lift. then you can access Mogh's palace with a teleporter hidden on the far east side of the consecrated snowfields

As far as first invasions go, you couldn’t have found a better one, even if you lost. 33:44 ironically not only does Mogh bleed, he’s super weak to it. I look at it like a knife fight, everyone is leaving with scars. 50:07 yeah unless you put in 40 levels of endurance to wear the heaviest stuff armor is largely cosmetic. extra defenses to status only matter if it hits important breakpoints, such as having enough frost resistance to take Commander Niall’s big arena wide frost blast. However, in the DLC your damage negation is going to matter a TON because of how scaling works in there, so it will be a lot more important later on. 53:57 and with that, you have officially unlocked access to the DLC! You’re definitely leveled enough to take it on, and there’s a ton of good stuff in there to check out. You can do it at any time, though, even after you beat the main game so it’s entirely on your schedule when to take it on. DLC has a completely different “leveling” system that’s irrespective of your character level so there’s no need to wait on that regard.

Oh also if you really are trying to wrap the threads, I do know you're "missing" another major boss. Maybe you could consult your sources about a boss whose name begins with the letter M 😉

FYI, there's one very interesting place you missed in the capital! 😜 It's nothing that needs a revisit, there isn't even any enemies there as far as I remember, it's just... an Easter egg? 🤔 just something to look out for in NG+

Even with tripled coop boss HP it trivializes basically everything. 42:13 Alexander (and all jar warriors like him) is basically the Highlander, his purpose is to make the strongest warrior ever, whether that’s him or you there’s only one way to know.

It also got patched recently because there was a glitch people would abuse that made the effect last forever. Fortunately that is no longer in the game. 16:54 you will be happy to know the most recent patch as of yesterday changed the default option when resummoning torrent to “yes” 39:43 you could have saved her, all it takes is embracing the frenzy flame and condemning the world to eternal chaos like Shabriri said 40:49 welcome to farum azula! without spoilers, killing the main boss of this area does trigger some map changes so I would make sure you’re 100% done in leyndell before completing this area.

There are exactly enough sacred tears in the game to max out, there are far more than enough golden seeds as well. You have only missed one sacred tear so far. Sacred tears work on a nonlinear scale so you’ve already gotten the majority of the benefit you will get from them. I think the last upgrade is like 5% more healing. 12:25 poise checked his ass

godskin swaddling cloth restores about 90 hp after 5 hits in quick succession. the actual amount of hp restored is percentage based but at 60 vigor it works out to about 90. 32:28 bleed weapons are always gonna lag behind keen for pure damage, that’s the trade off for getting the blood loss buildup. 33:53 Flame cleanse me can cure frostbite! an obscure mechanic of the game for sure but taking any source of fire damage will automatically cure frostbite, and flame cleanse me happens to do about 10 fire damage to yourself when you cast it. Truly a swiss army knife spell! i’m not gonna sugar coat it, borealis is one of my least favorite bosses in the game. Every other dragon has a way to stay underneath them and punish most of their moves with a headshot for big damage. But in their infinite wisdom, they made this one have that unreactable AOE scream attack that does a billion damage and causes frostbite basically one shotting you for being close. like you take the time to learn their moves and they put one in that not only doesn’t work the same way but actively punishes you for fighting it like every other lizard you’ve ever seen. damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of fight. fortunately he’s easy to cheese with bleed arrows.

The only benefit dex provides to casting is speed, so you can chain those rocks together for a while which is something. The beast seal you’re using scales mainly with strength and faith, and it gives a small %damage boost to beast incantations such as stone of gurranq. 36:01 very good straight sword, it has a unique heavy attack that hits twice and travels forward. Really strong with status effects like bleed and frost because of the multi hit. 38:49 there are two specific banished knights in this castle that have a very low chance to drop a rare unaltered version of the armor that all other banished knights in the game drop. It’s a hell of a farm but the drip is unparalleled! Sometimes sacrifices must be made in the name of fashion. The knight you fight at 41:34 is one of the possible drops. 47:28 a lot of people get 25 faith on physical builds just for the Golden Vow incantation, which you have. It gives you a strong attack and defense buff for a short time that stacks with all your other buffs. I use it on a lot of my builds. You’re halfway there already, and at the rate you’re going I would be surprised if you don’t hit level 200 by the end of the base game and DLC so you will have the stats to get there eventually if you want. 52:41 He’s wearing the Veterans set which you can buy from the lady in the round table hold, it’s unlocked by beating oniell in caelid.

Personally Vacuum Slash and ashes like that are my absolute fav :P Combat for me though was a lot slower in general because I used 2hand heavy weapons ^^ I enjoy the satisfaction these ashes can provide because of their risk/reward factor.

3:52 quickstep takes practice, you have to be right in front of the enemy and then quickstep to the right or left at the correct time and it will circle you around for a backstab. I don’t see people use it all that much in pve probably because bosses usually can’t be backstabbed. You do get s from it, more or less the same as a roll, but the real benefit it provides is on really large weapons it cancels recovery frames and lets you dodge out of a swing much faster. Very niche, not surprised you bounced on it. It’s also good on a dagger or something like that for crossing swamps. 17:51 bloody slash does a ton of physical damage straight up on top of the bleed, so it will perform even if they’re immune. It also does a lot more damage if youre really close and connect with the sword and the slash part 46:06 right now because you’re only using personal buffs the upgrade level of your seal hasn’t mattered yet, but if you wanted to use offensive spells or incantations then you need to upgrade the catalyst to get any kind of damage out of it. Eventually you’ll be able to upgrade whatever you want but honestly you’ll pretty much always get better ranged damage out of a bow with high Dex.

I've played dozens of RPGs and this comes very close to some of my old favorites by Bioware, but it is also an improvement. I've never experienced this level of freedom in an RPG, I mean an RPG with an actual story. Bioware has attempted something similar, but you always felt forced a little too much in one direction or another. Of course, there are sandbox RPGs with lots of freedom, but they tend to lack story content. I've been playing this game for several months now, and it still feels like a fresh experience. I am also quite fond of the honour mode, it provides a lot of intensity and excitement. There is nothing quite like making a blunder, dozens of hours into a run, facing impossible odds because of it and still coming out alive somehow.

18:42 watching you heavy roll through this area is painful lol. jsyk, fatrolling doubles your roll recovery time from 8 frames (0.13s) to 16 frames (0.27s), meaning you have that much longer before you can roll again or attack, and whatever is attacking you has that many more frames to connect, stagger, force a roll, and repeat the process. You also get one less heavy rolling and your roll distance is reduced. You probably already knew it was bad but that’s how bad it is. There are heavy load strategies but you really need to take advantage of the options to make it good. People do “all hit runs” where they just tank everything and it’s really funny. What I like to do in order to let me swap things around occasionally is setup my weapons and talismans with the heaviest equipment I plan to use and then build the armor around that to meet my weight limit, then I know that I can use anything lighter and it’s not a problem. I’d rather “waste” a little equipment load than be fat rolling in the middle of a fight because I swapped a talisman. I just realized equipment weight in elden ring is basically a credit card. 44:07 we are so back 45:52 jumping light attacks barely do any poise damage. Heavy attacks are where it’s at for staggering. If you’re using War Cry then it will also power up your heavy attacks into a forward charge 56:57 Hard choices ahead, to sacrifice melina or to embrace the frenzy? What kind of world are you going to create?

All that's through those doors is accepting the frenzied flame and burning the world clean, whether or not you want to do that is up to you. Melina definitely won't be wanting to hang out with you anymore if you do though.

@47:30 In this par-kor bit, it is possible to sprint immediately from standing still. If you jump, and while you are air-born, press and hold the sprint button. When you land, the moment you start moving with the left analog stick, you will be sprinting. Helpful in this area where you don't always have enough room to get to sprinting speed conventionally.

i have somewhere around 2k hours in this game, done all the stuff you can do, coop, pvp, low level runs, platinum trophy, etc. The sewers under Leyndell still always give me a hard time. This place is brutal!

You're definitely giving up a bit too quickly on some of the Ashes of War. You used Flaming Strike three times, missed/didn't connect all three times, and didn't use the follow-up input (that would've given you the fire buff). No wonder it felt underwhelming! Also, once you get out of the Sewers you should go back and explore the Fortified Manor a bit more. There's a cool reveal there :)

Congrats on getting married! So the dark moon greatsword is one of the most popular weapons in the entire game. It is insanely insanely good. If you ever try NG+, I’d respec and try it. Plus trying something besides Dex would be healthy and change how you have to play altogether! I’ve done strength, intelligence, and dexterity so far with combinations of them together.

9:03 hey, more ashes of war are never a bad thing! Spinning slash is amazing with bloodflame blade, just like any skill that hits multiple times the blood loss buildup is gonna be crazy. I’m pretty sure you’re also missing a step in Alexander’s questline, but you haven’t discovered the area he’s currently at. If you go to the Erdtree Gazing Hill site of grace and head north up hill you should be on the right track, you’ll know if you end up fighting a Mariner and a magma wyrm along the way.
