- Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between. Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, a fictional realm over which several demigods rule. It was previously ruled over by the immortal Queen Marika, who acted as keeper of the Elden Ring, a powerful force that manifested itself as the physical concept of order.
When Marika shattered the Elden Ring and disappeared, her demigod children began fighting over pieces of the Ring in an event called The Shattering. Each demigod has a shard of the Ring called a Great Rune, which corrupts them with power. In the game, the player character is a Tarnished, one of a group of exiles from the Lands Between who are summoned back after the Shattering. The player must traverse the realm to repair the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.

This fight really stress tested my multi-tasking skills! Bloodflame, Flame Cleanse, healing, FP restoring, attacking, dodging, re-equipping to 2 hands, there’s just so much to do!
6:49 the baleful shadow has a different effect than bloodflame blade is all I’ll say for now. you’ll encounter this mechanic again.
Neat little trick for rot areas like this- there are actually two versions of the scarlet rot status effect, and they dont stack. So theoretically by intentionally inflicting the weaker version on yourself you become immune to the stronger version. Fortunately you have that ability, although nothing in the game would ever suggest you do this, if you roll around in the rot youll notice it builds up for a short time on its own even if you stand out of it. For some reason the rot that you get from the slow buildup is the weaker version, and the rot you get from standing in the swamp is the stronger one. So by rolling around in the rot and letting the status hit you that way while standing on dry land, you can take somewhere in the ballpark of half damage and pretty much just tank the rot. Useful for speedrunning through the area mostly on subsequent playthroughs but an effective strategy nonetheless!
Interesting! I’ll have to keep an eye out for future elemental areas. Is this just relevant for rot? Or are there other types of locations where this would be helpful?
@@GalacticOdyssey it's really only useful for Rot. Technically there are two types of poison as well but standing in a poison swamp will always only proc the weaker version, just certain weapons and enemy attacks inflict the stronger version. More of a fun fact than anything tbh
Fun fact, with this Dragonkin Soldier, I was like... "hmmm... there's probably a boss here" - *finds pressure plate* - "nah, F that, nope" - *runs away* and I never went back 😂😂😂 but my friend "easily" killed him multiple times
Yes, it's very possible to do the lake of rot without cleanse me, by switching to rot-resistent equipment and talisman and using the boluses that you have a lot of to remove the rot :)
I feel like I would run out of boluses so quickly!

Dude I have found 0 dragonkin soldiers and this is the third one I think I remember you fighting lol? I beat the entire game twice and the DLC once. Never once did I find one. I never explored that rot swamp that much because fuckkk that. I didn’t have any flame cleanse me and actually never tried faith on any souls game
Hopefully this is the last one, haha! Once was pretty fun, but thrice? In rot? Yikes
