MLSE cannot afford the Stanley Cup PARADE! City of Toronto does not have the infrastructure to handle a Leafs Cup Parade. 5 Million+ people coming to Toronto for a parade. Not enough POLICE, FIRE, and EMS in the Country to cover the Permit required to have a Parade. No Insurance company will give a Policy without a Permit. For a position as big as Shanahan's, Pelley is right to be this deliberate. You don't dump the guy in that position without having a solid shortlist of replacements in mind, and that list takes more than 4 weeks to solidify.

Surprise ,surprise the Toronto Maple Leafs are out of the playoffs for the 2024 season . When will Torontonians understand with only 1 team in the NHL, there is no competition .Therefore , filling the seats because of Baby Boom generation of fans until they head upstairs(heaven) will prevail. Add to this so many subcoaches behind the player's bench+ incredible salary contracts+marketing rights-why change the formula? Yes, I was around to see 4 Stanley Cups in this city ,yes I saw 2 parades+ yes I saw the famous 1967 team in action. If I was the coach...1 .Every player must be able to play 2 positions 2 .2 goalies maximum with rotation guaranteed 3 .Every player will score a minimum of 20 goals-no matter the position. I can go on and on about ideas, but as usual without inside connections , my coaching idea will not happen. At this time after playing the game(55 years) my only option is trying out for a hockey scout(1 of my dreams) and continue loyalty to the only team in town. I feel real sorry for present Leaf fans. Its not the coaching staff(it never was)-its the scouting system .Just because a player can achieve 69 goals does not guarantee a championship . One player does not mean the Stanley Cup in your city. In the past 60 years many teams have had "non stars" and still won the cup-Vegas, St. Louis ,etc. Its all about chemistry of personality and grit .Winning teams you will notice will do the impossible in the playoffs no matter their seasonal standings. In the final analysis , I would rather have a player who almost skates on their ankles and tries 150% ,than a "so called star" who is not a team player. Let us pray for the 2024/2025 hockey season.
