    The amount Keefe plays musical chairs with his lines really grinds my gears.
    Playing hockey at the NHL level is difficult at the best of times but never having a clue you're gonna be on the ice with at any given moment has gotta be exhausting for the players. It feels like whenever a line finally starts to build some chemistry Keefe immediately breaks them up because... I don't know... Coach stuff, I guess.

    • @DavidSilverthorn
      @DavidSilverthorn Před 2 měsíci +7

      Its like he's looking for things to just magically click, which does happen sometimes, but he never gives time to let them gel. Like I get it if McMann is on a hot streak, put him with players who let him thrive, sure. If Tavares is on a cold streak, put up players who are doing better and give him less minutes. But changing things game to game for the sake of changing things, especially in the case of putting Brodie and Rielly together for the millionth unsuccessful time is beyond comprehension.

And they didn't even play a great game! Don't get me wrong, I agree they had a little more rest the day before and I'd still be encouraged but the idea "look they almost beat the best in the east", is just not true. I mean yeah the refs were helping the Leafs way too much. Not calling dozens of high sticks committed by the Leafs and calling a boarding on Svech when he hit the dude in the side and not the back. The Leafs didn't get goalied, they played another 2 period game as per usual. That 1st period team effort was awful. If they can figure out how to play 3 full periods they will start beating some of these blue chip teams. Keefe needs to make the hard decision and just park Brodie for the season. He doesn't even look like he's trying out there anymore. I see him give up on plays way too much. Put someone else in who gives a 💩

    Hot take but *in this game*, and I'm only talking about this game, I genuinely think Woll was the better goalie. The stats are very close (with Andersen having the slight edge) but hear me out, the leafs' defense was not great tonight. Woll faced numerous high danger chances and several breakaways because of mistakes the team made. I guess there's not much value in who was better though, either as a leafs fan or just generally. What really matters is that Andersen played like one of if not the best goalie in the league (currently, not season-long) tonight, and Woll was undeniably keeping pace, regardless of who you thought was better. That's the goaltending the leafs need going into the playoffs, and going forward. Sammy has really stepped up too. Give them consistent defense and we actually have a shot I think.

    So I went to this game last night since I was in Raleigh for the weekend with the gf (WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT HOCKEY). She looked at me when the Tavares thing happened and before she even asked the question my response was "I don't know. This is a typical NHL officiating job." Everyone looked so slow the first period it was terrible. Then once they started going and Andersen stopped everything, I was convinced my first ever Leafs game was going to be their first shutout of the season. That second goal I'm still confused on what it deflected to go in after watching it a dozen times on the jumbotron. I was so proud of Woll for how well he played, especially in the mid second with the back-to-back Kampf and Willie penalties. Not a terrible game, but it would've been nice to see them win at my first game.

    They should try Brodie on the 4th line if they’re doing 11-7. That way they get Benoit in and still have a playable team. I think him not having to worry too much about D and instead focusing more on just being a pest like Bert or Domi that would be fun to watch.

      @@xxdarebearxx2794 , I revel in Leaf losses and heartbreaks, you know why ? Living in Nut Country ( i.e. Leafs Land ) as a Blackhawks fan, I had to endure my share of verbal abuse throughout the years, that is until 2010-2015. The ridicule and hatred came from exclusively Leaf fans, friends and family. Funny thing happened when they finally broke the 49 year jinx in 2010, all the haters went radio 🤫. I could have had a field day ridiculing the Leafs, but it didn’t seem fair I thought. I was naive. Leaf fans are the WORST! I vowed that whenever the Blackhawks became relevant again, I would give what they gave me. I understand the anxiety Leaf fans have right now….their core best players are at the same age that Kane & Toews won their FIRST cup 🤣 These guys are nowhere near that level yet.And I am keeping my fingers 🤞that they don’t come within sniffing distance of winning either. Once these guys approach 30, it’s over, time to start all over again. I know, my Blackhawks have been at it since 2017, it’s a LONG process. I predict by the time the Leafs begin their downward spiral, my Blackhawks will be celebrating another Stanley Cup win 👍 Which is why I am hoping they tank the remaining games they have, repeat what happened in 2006-07, draft two phenoms back to back, and let the future unfold as it should.

But then the players will adjust and start playing within the rules and it will be a much more beautiful game with less concussions and other injuries.
